A Fresh Friday Night Event

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

I enjoyed my first event cache and meeting some cachers I only knew by their geocaching handles. Thank you to M & J for putting it together and for the Tecnu/Anti-Itch Gel I won. It may come in handy some day. Knock on wood! Mahalo nui loa!

A Fresh Friday Night Event

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

I'll try to make it. I've eaten at Sweet Tomatoes a lot but would like to try Fresh Choice. And I'll finally get to meet a bunch of local cachers.

What A Crock!

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

6:16pm Decided to try this one again. Had to park a block away on a side street. Spent most of the time looking in the wrong spot until our GPSr said we should try another spot. Found it within a minute. I'm not sure the cache is where it was originally placed. I'm about 99% sure I had checked that same spot when I DNFed it before. Oh yeah, the log sheet is completely full. We had to sign on the top of the log. TNLNSL.

San Veron Park

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

5:54pm The cache is still there and hidden pretty well. There was a mother and daughter shooting hoops nearby but they weren't paying attention to us. We looked for a few minutes without luck and then let our GPSr settle for a bit. We found the cache right were the GPSr said it would be. Took Livestrong bracelet but didn't have anything to leave. Didn't have my sig item to trade so I promise I'll double up the trade items next time. Signed log.

Jackson Park

By: darrenk13 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

5:34pm There were a couple of families enjoying the park but not where the cache was. Easy find as we've seen quite a few hidden this way. TNLNSL.

Los Gatos Creek Trail

By: tkohler Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

1:33pm Got to the cache area and the cache was out in the open, with its lid off. There was a rat control container fairly nearby so maybe whoever put that out found the cache. Everything was still in it so I TNLNSL and put it back where I thought it might belong. The cache owner hasn't been on this site for a couple of months so maybe someone else can check to make sure it's in the correct spot?

Gato Grande - Oh the Roar!

By: DR. Doolittle, the Mrs. and Zoo Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

3:14pm Started a 4.5 mile trek from Los Gatos County Park down to Lake Vasona park to hit a few caches along the way. On the way to the lake, there were a few office workers taking a break under the overpass so we couldn't search then. On the way back no one was around so after looking for a few minutes I found the cache. Took dollar, left signature item and signed log.

Secret Trailhead #9 - Vasona

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Started a 4.5 mile trek from Los Gatos County Park down to Lake Vasona park to hit a few caches along the way. Got down to this one and looked for about ten minutes before giving up and walking down to another cache. After DNF'ng that one we walked back and searched for this one again. Now that I read some previous logs, we were searching for the wrong kind of micro. Oh well, at least we know where to park for free. Just found out the other cache I DNFed wasn't even there. So my find percentage jumped from 60% to 75%!

The Finish Line

By: Frankenlurch, Aargnpopo, Mallrat46 & 2 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

3:42pm Started a 4.5 mile trek from Los Gatos County Park down to Lake Vasona park to hit a few caches along the way. Decided to hit this one on the way back. No one was around so we could look for a while. Found it nicely hidden. TNLNSL.

Goose Meadow

By: jabberwocky and the little momeraths Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Doh! Temporarily disabled and didn't even know it. Guess that'll happen when you upload waypoints to your GPS and cache pages to your PDA months earlier. Spent a good fifteen minutes looking in every nook and cranny. At least I don't have to post a DNF since it wasn't even there.

Klein Park

By: DavidT21 & Fisherwoman Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

10:11am We've driven by this park a few times, but it was always busy. This morning, there was only a mother pushing her kid on the swings so we started searching the usual spots. A few minutes later, a group of kids started playing basketball but we kept searching. I was ready to give up but my girlfriend said to give it one more look. And so I did...and found the cache. TNLNSL.

Rengstorff Park # 2.5

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

10:23am Had searched for this one a few days earlier but had no luck. Today my girlfriend found it in a few seconds. We had looked there the first time but not good enough. Still no WAAS lock, with an EPE of 23-30 ft but good enough. Finally cleared this park. TNLNSL.

Rengstorff Park # 3

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

5:16pm WAAS wasn't locking on so I had to rely on the hint to get me to the cache spot. Couldn't find it but took one last look and saw it. TNLNSL.

Rengstorff Park # 1

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

5:10pm WAAS wasn't locking on today so I had to rely on the hint and previous logs to make the find. TNLNSL.

Rengstorff Park # 4

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

4:31pm Had to wait for a few rugrats who were running around before we made the grab. TNLNSL.

Rengstorff Park # 2.5

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

When we got to the spot, WAAS wasn't locking on and I was getting EPE anywhere from 30-125 feet. So we looked at the hint and searched up and down the fenceline for probably 20 minutes or more. The tennis courts were empty so we could look without feeling rushed. Just couldn't find it. When we got back to the car on the other side of the park, I looked at my GPSr and WAAS was locked on. Oh well, will try again another day.

Barely Secret Walkway

By: katiecacher Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

4:04pm Parked fairly close and it took a couple of minutes to find. I had a hard time getting it out so my girlfriend had to use her longer nails to extract it from its hiding spot. TNLNSL.

Redwood Preserve

By: PhilippeGPS (Maintained by MotorBug) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

3:34pm I got the YJ notification that there was one in this cache. So I jumped in my cachemobile and was off. When I got to the area, I found the entrance but there was no parking there. I asked a nearby resident if there was any parking and she said only on the street. So I parked on the street and took the nice stroll to the preserve. There were little rugrats running all around and when I got to the cache site, one was trying to climb up the hill. One of his friends told him he wasn't supposed to go up there but he kept trying. So I walked a little further down the trail and when he gave up, I turned around and took my turn at conquering the hill. I made it up pretty easily and found the cache. At first I thought the Yellow Jeep was gone but it was at the bottom. Yeah! Finally got my first Yellow Jeep. Took that and left my signature item. Signed log.

Dark Overlook

By: PhilippeGPS (maintained by trode) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

7:06pm Our last find of the hike. There were a few more along the trail but the sun was going down so we decided to head back to the parking lot, 2.5 miles away. It took us 2.5 hours and 3.5 miles up but 1 hour and 2.5 miles back down. Did we really hike an extra mile, just looking for caches? I guess we did. Saw some deer, a bobcat, and possibly a coyote or wolf on the way down. Oh yeah, TNLNSL.

Backpack Camp

By: PhilippeGPS (maintained by trode) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

6:47pm I started to follow my GPSr into some bushes but my girlfriend found it first. Covered it a little, as it was in plain sight. Well, not in plain sight from the trail though. TNLNSL.

bLEb bLOb

By: Woof!, Marky, and Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

6:24pm Looked for a few minutes before finding this one. I put my hiking stick down and there was the cache, right next to it. TNLNSL.

Mello Bello

By: Marky & Joani & Woof! Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

6:04pm I looked for a couple of minutes while my girlfriend waited on the trail. I couldn't find it, so she came down to help and found it right away. Took the digital fish since I'm originally from the 808 state and left a Chinese coin I found earlier. Signed log.

Succession (or: A Faulty Cache)

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Decided to do a bunch of the Monte Bello caches today. The first one we look for and a DNF. We were hoping it wasn't a sign of things to come. It wasn't, as we found all 11 that we looked for after this one. On the way back down, my GPSr said that this cache was on the other side of the trail, about 150 feet away from where I had searched earlier. It was getting dark so we decided to skip this one and come back to find it and the others we didn't get to look for. We hiked up as far as the Dark Overlook cache and it took 2.5 hours. It only took 1 hour to get back down though. We saw some deer, a bobcat jumping into the brush and possibly either a coyote or wolf? Thankfully they were all running away from us. Great day of caching.

Sweat? Not!

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

5:00pm Decided to hit a few of the Monte Bello caches today and this was the first one found. Found this one pretty easily, making sure there wasn't anything rattling near the cache. A lizard scurried by, making me jump. TNLNSL.

PEZtacular View 2

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

6:56pm Found this one quite easily, as its lid makes it stand out from its hiding spot. Nice views a further up the hill. TNLNSL.

Rocky Ledge

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

5:29pm This definitely rates a 3 for terrain as I was slipping down the slope. I had my hiking stick with me so that helped me get down, look for the cache, and hike back up the slope. Man, was I tired after that one. TNLNSL.

Lizard Troll

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

5:10pm Found this one easily, because I just happened to be looking at a similar object on the way up. Made sure there was nothing hiding and grabbed the cache. TNLNSL.

No Time Limit!

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

6:31pm As I walked up to the camp, I thought I knew where the cache was based on the title. Yep, there it was. TNLNSL and used nearby facility, which was greatly appreciated. [:D]

Monte Bello Road - West

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

5:45pm As I was about to look elsewhere, my girlfriend told me, "Why don't you look there, instead?". And there it was. It wasn't covered at all so I left a few twigs on it. TNLNSL.

Troll Lizard

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

8:09pm After doing a bunch of Monte Bello caches, I saw this one was on the other side of the road and only 500 feet away. We drove over and found this one fairly quickly, as we had found a similar one earlier. No "Troll Lizard" today, as I checked with a stick before retrieving the cache. TNLNSL.
