Word Police Quiz

By: The Rat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

11:10am The last time we looked we had the wrong coordinates but were very close. This time we parked right in front of it and made the grab. TNLNSL.

Nihonmachi

By: payakoi Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

11:03am After DNFing this one a couple of times we tried this one again because we were making a stop at the Shuei-do manju shop. I was standing around, waiting for my GPSr to settle down. It didn't want to cooperate so I started looking and I saw the cache peeking out from its hiding spot. Finally, I thought, as I TNLNSL.

Outta Play

By: MuirBoys Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

2:50pm This one took about fifteen minutes but a change in perspective helped me find the cache. TNLNSL.

Venor Infernus Sempervirons

By: Kealia & Hula Bum Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

We can't miss this event...got a couple of SC geocoins to pick up! [:D]

Debbie and Kevin's Cache

By: XB70man Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

6:30pm FTF...by about thirty seconds. Met up with Sharkz and had a nice chat about locationless caches, geocoins, and other geocaching-related topics. Left Beltira Troll TB and got Sharkz #41 tooth, signed log.

LV Money-makers

By: Pharmacache Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

10:23pm Vacationing in Vegas for a few days. This was the last one we found. We found this one after watching the Sirens show at TI (Treasure Island). Wished we could have seen this show instead of the Sirens show.

May 19, 2005

MM MM Good

By: Tromboneman Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

2:04pm Vacationing in Vegas for a few days. Doing some caching up and down the Strip. Didn't go in this time, spent too much money last time and ate too much!

IN THE BELLY OF THE BEAST

By: kd7mxi Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

1:46pm Vacationing in Vegas for a few days. Our GPSr led us to a couple of spots so I'll post both pics. It's hard to get good reception along the Strip, probably from all the hotels and electricity running through all the signs.

LAKE-VEGAS

By: kd7mxi Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

10:15pm Vacationing in Vegas for a few days. We saw the show from the top of the Eiffel Tower and then came on down for the close up view.

NE-ON THE STRIP

By: kd7mxi Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

1:06pm Vacationing in Vegas for a few days. I wasn't sure if we had found the correct spot but I just got the title of the cache, doh! Walked over from where we were staying, the California Hotel. Boy was it hot, we hit every casino on the way just for the air conditioning.

Sin City Micro

By: Dru Morgan Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

4:44pm Vacationing in Vegas for a few days. This is the only traditional cache I found, all the others were virtuals. Coincidentally, we parked right next to the correct staircase, only had to go up a few floors. While I was opening the cache, I heard some muggles so I signed it on the first line I found and put it back quickly. TNLNSL.

Eiffel Tower

By: Dave and Niki Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

9:45pm Vacationing in Vegas for a few days. We lucked out, only waiting for about ten minutes before going up. The ride up was quite scary but once we got to the top, the views were great. And we only had to wait a couple of minutes before the show started down below.

Las Vegas Cache Cow

By: TwoCampers Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

2:45pm Vacationing in Vegas for a few days. We walked right past it but our GPSr turned us around to find the cache. Interesting object but then again, this is Vegas, isn't it?

View From Poets Bridge

By: Pharmacache & Redirtwriter Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

1:20pm Vacationing in Vegas for a few days. Walked over from where we were staying, the California Hotel. Boy was it hot when we walked over. We stopped a few times in the shade to take a drink over water.

Toga Party

By: bthomas Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

10:58pm Vacationing in Vegas for a few days. Walked up and down the Strip caching. Took a photo of Caesar and a strategically placed Jenn.

"The Presidential Suite"

By: Pharmacache and Redirtwriter Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

11:09pm Vacationing in Vegas for a few days. Another "wouldn't know it was there without geocaching" cache. Interesting history of this spot and hotel.

The 4 Corners Cache

By: LV Hiker Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

1:39pm Vacationing in Vegas for a few days. This was our first cache in Vegas and our first webcam cache! Back home in the Bay Area, Batfish took our picture of us at the top of the escalator. It took a while, as we had to wait for the webcam to cycle back to the correct position.

Santa Clara Youth Soccer Park

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

We went to look for this one but the gates were all locked and our GPSr was pointing us about 150 feet beyond the gate. Will try again when it's open.

Agnew Historic Cemetery

By: Marky Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

5:08pm Took a while to find this one as I probably looked at the cache but didn't think of checking. Jenn checked the same spot a couple of minutes later and found the cache. TNLNSL.

May 14, 2005

Taphophobia?

By: Jeo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

4:oopm Visiting friends in Folsom and this was the closest to their home. Jenn, Kristie, Nancy and myself went searching for this one and Jenn found it. After clearing some cobwebs, she made the grab. Nice custom container! TNLNSL.

Man's Best Friend

By: cpnkr Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

4:30pm Visiting friends in Folsom and this one was nearby. Parked at the recommended lot and made the nice hike to this one. A little hot out so we worked up a sweat. While I was moving something, Jenn saw the cache. TNLNSL.

Fold Bags to help Trash Out

By: Inventor Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

1:58pm After a short hike, we left three CITO film canisters in: Foothills OSP (GCJPGT).

Girlie Pants' Cache

By: javrach Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

2:56pm We took the long way to get to this one, probably going twice as far to the cache as back to the car. We did the entire loop trail. Almost stepped on a snake trying to find the cache, and poison oak and mosquitoes everywhere. Finally found the cache and while swatting away the mosquitoes, TNLNSL.

PMAX - Page Mill Animal Exchange

By: javrach Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

4:28pm Took the little walk to the cache site and found it easily since it wasn't covered. There was a little water in the container so I emptied it out and TNLNSL. CITOed an empty Starbucks cup out of the area. Lots of broken glass in the area but didn't want to cut myself.

Foothills OSP

By: darrenk13 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

1:58pm Took a while to find a good trail to the final hiding spot. Jenn found it for her fourth find of the day and I'm at zero! TN, left 3 CITO film canisters, signed log.

Foothills OSP Gateway

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

1:45pm Jenn found this one while I was reading the OSP information sign. Her third of the day and I'm still at zero! TNLNSL.

Sag Ponds on the San Andreas Fault

By: workerofwood adopted by Bootdisk Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

3:52pm #600!!! I figured I found the other local earthcache for #500, I'd do this one for #600. We grabbed the educational map at the trailhead and followed the trail across the faultline until we reached the sag ponds. Thanks for the educational earthcaches in the area!

Mao's thawed cat

By: Team Shadow Cat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

1:25pm Walked from the other cache on the trail and Jenn found her second cache of the day. I think there might be a small sprig of PO growing under the cache. I tried to push it in to the ground with a stick but it's still there. Future finders, be careful! TNLNSL.

SWAT coated ham

By: Team Shadow Cat Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

1:12pm When we got to the cache site, I went back to the car to get a pen. While I was gone, Jenn found the cache. Like the previous cacher said, watch out for the poison oak. TNLNSL.

May 8, 2005

A, W.Y.M.M?

By: Pinky B Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

5:25pm It was raining out so we figured this was the best time to look. Yep, the park was completely empty. It took a few minutes to find the cache but Jenn eventually found the first stage. I went looking for the first stage and could see it from a "distance". I took the TB and signed log.

Skinny Park

By: cclark2004 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

4:59pm It was a little rainy out but we figured we'd try this one anyway. Took about fifteen minutes to find, as we couldn't get a good WAAS lock on our GPSr. Finally just looked around and I noticed a spot where a cache might be. At first I didn't think it was the cache but it was. TNLNSL.

Tube

By: McGrude-n-Nif (adopted by mjp303) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

5:11pm Walked over to this one from the Water Dog Lake cache. Jenn got a leg cramp on the trail up to the cache so she let me go ahead. I still hadn't found it when she got to where I was but I found it shortly thereafter. Be careful, there is poison oak very near to the cache. It's avoidable but if it gets bigger, it might be harder to retrieve the cache. The inside of the cache is wet, which is surprising since it's an ammo can. TNLNSL.

Kiss the Dog!

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 4.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

3:57pm We were up in San Mateo for a dachshund picnic and decided to continue the dog theme with this cache. We got to the cache area and after looking everywhere, I asked Jenn, "What about here? Did you check here?" She said she did but I checked anyway and there was the cache. About ten minutes of searching. And to think, it was the first spot Jenn checked but not well enough. Nice hide!!! TNLNSL.

Painted Ladies

By: GeoCraig Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

This is the Rengstorff House in Mountain View, CA. See http://www.r-house.org for more info.

Community Garden

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

3:00pm First the good news...I found the cache, bugs and beetles inside. The bad news, the logsheet is soaked but I did manage to sign it with a pen. The ugly news, while placing the cache back, whatever was holding the object below the cache broke so now it's hanging down. And the cache fell below, in sight but out of my reach. This one needs some definite maintenance. Sorry! TNLNSL.

Mission Hospice

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

[4:16pm We parked on the wrong side of the road and walked over to the cache area. It took a few minutes but eventually Jenn found it nicely hidden.] I think it might be easier to find now that there has been some pruning done. [TNLNSL]

Water Dog Lake

By: NavySparks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

4:57pm It took us a while to find the trailhead but we eventually found it. Nice little walk to the cache. Took a few minutes to find, as our GPSr was making us go back and forth. I was going to take the Oscar Meyer whistle to continue the dog theme we had going today - went to a dachshund picnic, found the Kiss The Dog! cache, then this cache is Water Dog Lake, Oscar Meyer weiners. Anyway, TNLNSL.

I See Sick People

By: Rocket Girl and DuckeyLee Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

7:12pm Like others we parked right in front of the cache and I could see it before getting out of my car. Not sure how long this one will last. I think a strong storm might knock it out of its hiding place. TNLNSL.

Rengstorff R ätsel

By: noababoa Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

6:18pm Nice hide!!! We found the cache first and took a while to find the tool. I saw another object nearby that I thought could be the tool but it wouldn't come out of the ground. Finally found the tool and waited out some muggles to procure the cache. The cache was full of stuff but TNLNSL.

Hill View

By: NavySparksandtheMrs Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

1:49pm Drove up from San Jose to the 1st Annual Dachshund Picnic taking place at Laurelwood Park. Parked fairly close to the cache and found it quickly. TNLNSL.

A Digital Puzzle

By: zapboy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

6:42pm I'm still doing this series backwards as I've found 2,3,4,5 and now 7. But I still need to get 1 and then 6. Anyway, I figured out the puzzle fairly quickly as I had just learned this in one of my computer classes last semester. The find took a little longer as our GPSr was sending us up and down the trail. Used the hint to find the cache. Thanks for the bead! TNLNSL.

SVC: Microsoft in the Valley

By: stbk Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

5:58pm I figured out this one this morning and after spending most of the day in San Mateo, driving back we stopped for this one. We searched the wrong object at first and Jenn found it while searching the second object. TNLNSL and thanks for the history.

SHHH!

By: Rocket Girl and DuckeyLee Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

1:11pm FTF w/Batfish. I work right down the street and had thought about placing a cache here but you snooze you lose, I guess. When I saw this one pop up, I hoped my better half was bringing my GPSr when meeting me for lunch. She didn't but we got a call from Batfish who was closeby. We met up and proceeded to use his GPSr to find the cache. We walked up and down the walkway until my better half's big grin on her face let us know that she had found it. Batecher walked up and we chatted for a minute before we were off to lunch. TNLNSL.

Word Police Quiz

By: The Rat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I had worked this one out a while ago but was in the area today and decided to go look for it. The GPSr was pointing us to an object that the hint describes but it was behind a fence. So I'm figuring I probably have the wrong coordinates.

Bird Person of Willow Glen

By: Tammie The Dog Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

3:54pm We drove around looking for a parking lot to the park but there was none so we parked in front of some houses and walked over to the cache. My better half found it while I was thinking about the hint. TNLNSL.

Nihonmachi

By: payakoi Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Tried this one today and figured with all the people at Nikkei Matsuri it'd be easier to blend in. Too bad there wasn't anyone in the area we were searching. Looked in a few places, then gave up as our GPSr wasn't even picking up. At least we had some good food at the festival.

Stonehenge

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

We know we had the correct spot but couldn't find the cache after looking for about ten minutes. It was getting hot and there were a couple of neighbors tending to their yards so we gave up for the day. Aw crap, just saw that the location, container, and story about the cache are different from the one loaded on my PDA. You think I'd learn my lesson about having cache descriptions nine months old but I've done this several times already. [:(]

Somewhere in Loehmann's Plaza

By: catomcat Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

5:13pm With a bunch of hints from other cachers we tried this one again. Even with the clues it took a couple of minutes to finally spy the cache. Took digitalfish #1703 and DT21 & F button, left digitalfish #1307 and micro sig item, signed log.

Rails to Trails #1

By: Team LegGoes Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Searched for a few minutes in all the possible places we could see and looked some more. No luck, will try again sometime.

AKA Pete Marsh

By: 2blucats Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

5:38pm Solved this one the first night it came out but didn't get out to find it till today. It took a while to find because we didn't look in the logical places. TNLNSL.

Trinity

By: 2blucats Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

7:10pm I finally solved this one after some "help" and then some more "help" from the owners. Got over to the site today and found it quickly. TNLNSL.

Cache Cove

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

4:19pm Luckily, I found the cache in the first place I touched. TNLNSL.

Los Gatos Creek - Revisted #3

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

3:31pm Took about a minute to find this time with the corrected coordinates. TNLNSL.
