Magic Squares of Singly Even Orders

By: TeamJiffy Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

3:10pm Finally got around to finishing up the last of the "series". There were only a couple of families in the park today, even though it was a beautiful day. Jenn found the cache easily after checking another object first. TNLNSL.

Little Cache of Horrors

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

5:11pm We searched for this one the night it came out but couldn't find it in the dark. We also drove past it another time and I pointed out what I thought the cache was. We were visiting WoW today so we decided to stop off and find this one. Yep, the cache is what I thought it was, and we TNLNSL.

Flash of Inspiration

5:24pm Another quality hide by WoW. When we pulled up, I pointed out what I thought the cache was...and it was. I couldn't figure out how to open it but Jenn figured it out quickly. TNLNSL.

Lost in the Woods

By: Mystery Ink (adopted by Workerofwood) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

4:59pm We had something to drop off to WoW and we still hadn't done this one. We found it easily with WoW standing right there...phew! Took WoW token, handed off wooden nickel to WoW, signed log.

Little Cache of Horrors II

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

5:37pm Like Kealia, we knew what we were looking for but couldn't find it after looking for a few minutes. Went back to the car to doublecheck my PDA and when we walked back, I found it in the first place I checked. TNLNSL.

WoW!

By: Nurse Dave Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

5:08pm We finally decided to try this one after driving past it a couple of times. Only a car or two drive by while we were searching and we found it after a couple of minutes. TNLNSL.

BMX Rides Again! (formerly BMX No More)

By: ed777 & little_hiker Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

2:53pm I need to thank MRsquared for retrieving the first stage container. We found it right where it's supposed to be and made sure we replaced it very carefully. We found stage 2 after getting a better angle to search from. TNLNSL.

Any two five elevennis?

By: ed777 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

2:38pm We decided to park .17 miles away and get a little exercise to this one. We searched the wrong object at first but the second one yielded the cache. TNLNSL.

Honeymooner's Cache

By: scarredknee Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Unfortunately, there is no geocaching community on Maui, only a few scattered geocachers here and there. Most of the caches on Maui are/have been vacation caches and very few have been placed by Maui residents. It is also unfortunate that the three Lahaina Pali Trail caches as well as the Haleakala virtuals have been or will be archived. I can kind of see where the DLNR doesn't want the caches in that area, as the caches I did find there were both off trail. One of them, I needed to climb up the hillside and there was some erosion. I do agree that the DLNR should worry about the trash in the parking area a lot more than three containers spread out over a mile or so. I think the archiving probably has something to do with legal issues, as the DLNR didn't want to get sued in case a cacher got hurt while trying to find the caches. It's too bad, but that's the kind of world we live in now. Sue everyone if you stub your toe. I have no idea why the Haleakala virtuals were archived. I didn't get a chance to do them but it looks like all one needed to do was find a plaque or sign for the answers. No offtrail walking or searching for anything in the native plants. It does seem kind of fishy that park management wanted them removed, as there is NOTHING to remove. Tourists will still visit these spots and look at the plaques and signs, just as cachers would have done.

Someday I will return to live on Maui (I live in California) and place some caches so future visitors will have something to look for.

Blarney Stone

By: Jeo & Workerofwood Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

While visiting Las Vegas this past weekend we decided to gamble at Fitzgerald's. I remember reading about this LC that there were only two Blarney Stones in the USA, one in Reno and one in Vegas, but that the Vegas one wasn't there anymore. Imagine my surprise when I was signing up for the players card and there next to the wall was the Blarney Stone. I didn't have my GPS that day but went back a couple of days later to take a pic. The coordinates are the closest I could get to the entrance of Fitzgerald's.

Whole Lot of Shakin'

By: TeamMoehrke Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

4:38pm Had a couple hours wait for Jenn to finish with her class at the Moscone Center so I walked over to the Metreon and found this one. Very interesting!

5:48pm I called my bro to take this picture of me. I'm the one in the upper left corner with the shopping bag, talking on the cell phone. Lot of kids playing with the lights. Later, I went down to the arcade and played a few games myself.

Somewhere .....

By: catomcat Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

5:20pm FTF! I saw this one pop up when I was at work and so I was only a couple of minutes away, I printed out a map (since I didn't have my GPSr) and headed over. I got to the cache site and figured out what I needed to do but it took a couple of tries to finally retrieve the cache and FTF prize. I decided to stick around and see who else would show up. Motorbug, WeBeDnD, and British Invasion showed up and we had a nice chat before heading on home.

PEZtacular view

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

5:13pm We finally made the walk out to his one. Jenn had to close her eyes and/or keep her head down as there were tons of pelicans around today. Got to the cache site and took a few seconds to find the cache. I'm glad I took a look at the picture of the cache site before we went searching. TNLNSL.

101 TFTs - Two Pair

By: winini Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

4:10pm Just posting a note here, as I still need a B/W Jazz token. I'll just have to keep checking winini's finds. [:D] 10/2/05 Finally managed to obtain one of the B/W Jazz tokens so I'm logging this as a find.

Geobeads #6 - Pick Up Stix

By: zapboy with help from workerofwood Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

3:20pm We had figured this one out previously, but there were muggles hanging out so we aborted the search at that time. We came back today and the coast was clear. We were searching the wrong object for some time before Jenn started looking elsewhere and found the nicely hidden cache. Our final bead! Thanks for the creative and enjoyable series! Took bead and signed log.

GeoBeads #8 - A Little Evil

By: zapboy with help from workerofwood Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

3:00pm After DNFing this one previously, we got a good hint from the cache owner and went back today to look. It took a couple of minutes to find but we finally got our second to last bead. BTW, there are five beads left in the cache.

Big Calves 2

By: stbk and alphamoose Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Let me reiterate that I do not believe we were being shot at. I think it was probably a stray or ricochet. There were multiple gunshots while we were hiking but only one bullet passed us. So I do believe that it is a safe place to go, but like stbk said, if you hear anything like a gunshot, it's not worth hanging around. It really is a beautiful trail.

Something to read?

By: pao_flyers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen

3:38pm The library was closed so there were only a couple of muggles in the park nearby. I was searching the wrong objects for a minute before Jenn found the cache. Well done! TNLNSL.

*missing* That's Just Not Natural

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

2:50pm Jenn found this one fairly quickly after I told her the name of the cache. Nice camo! Took wave sig item, left mad cow button, signed log.

Big Calves 2

By: stbk and alphamoose Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

3:36pm Found this one after trying to go up a steep "trail". Walked a little further past it and found the correct trail. We heard gunshots while looking for it and after a bullet whizzed past our heads, not even 30 feet away, we hightailed it out of there. We told the parking lot attendant and he alerted the rangers, since hunting is not allowed there. I'm sure it'll be a safe place to cache but we're not going back. TNLNSL.

The Home is Where the Heart Is

By: summerandnana Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

4:17pm It wasn't too hot today, so the walk from the other two caches to this puzzle cache wasn't too bad. We had rushed out of the house so we didn't take anything to drink with us. It took a couple of minutes to find the cache. Took FTF prize, sig item, left sig keychain, signed log. Mahalo nui loa for the very creative series!

Family Beginnings

By: summerandnana Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

3:36pm FTF! This was almost a comedy of errors. We saw it pop up, so we rushed out of the house. First we parked at the wrong "secret walkway", then I almost blew right past a stop sign, then luckily we picked the correct part of the creek. It took a couple of minutes to find but I found the nicely hidden cache. Took one baggie, lnsl.

Family Additions

By: summerandnana Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

4:00pm FTF! We walked down the trail from Family Beginnings. This one took a while to find as it was REALLY well hidden. After about ten minutes looking, I eventually found it. Took the four tokens and plugged in the coordinates for the puzzle cache, nlsl.
