Iao ValleyBy: WhipLash511 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other
5:45pm The last cache of 2005. And it was a good one, as we had a previous DNF on it. The coordinates posted were pointing me to where we had searched previously but I knew it wasn't located there. So I searched where I had been told by another cacher to search and after a couple of minutes I found it. I'm posting the coords I got. TNLNSL. Hauoli Makahiki Hou!

4:12pm Found this one on the way back from Haleakala. A couple of pheasants flew out of the grass on the way down to the cache so Jenn stayed up top and watched me make the walk down. Easy find, took Scout patch, left sig keychain, signed log.

We visited Haleakala today, the highest point of Maui County, Hawaii. The posted elevation is 10,023ft but my GPSr said we were at 10,078ft.
Where the Wild Things Are (Locationless)By: AlanC Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Virtual
We saw this Nene or Hawaiian Goose while caching on the way to Haleakala. The Nene is Hawaii's State Bird and is endangered, about 800 left in the wild. It is similar to the Canadian Goose, but smaller.
Haleakala GloryBy: Team RCTZ Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Virtual
There was beautiful weather today so no glory to be seen. The view of the crater was crystal clear.
Kahakapao GeoCacheBy: Selina_and_Eric Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular
4:51pm We decided to try this one today since no one had found it in over a month. It took a while, as it's almost uphill all the way. We took a couple of wrong turns, which added about twenty minutes to the total hike. When we got to the cache site, it took about ten minutes to get near enough to the cache to make an educated guess where it should be. For future cachers, if you usually wait to get to the cache site to check the hint, it won't help here unless you have a PDA or laptop that can connect to the web out in the field. The round trip took us about two hours with the twenty minutes of wrong turns. Took luggage tag, left sig keychain, signed log.

On the Run, In the Wind (Maui)By: phillipm Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular
4:29pm Don't go barefoot on this one! It took a while but eventually found the cache. Spent more time picking the kiawe thorns out of our slippers than searching for the cache. Took TB, LNSL.

10:24am FTF! We saw this one pop up an eighth of a mile from us so out the door we went. We got stuck behind an elderly woman driving really slow which made the anticipation of the FTF worse. When we got there, there were only a couple of dog walkers around this cold morning. Used the hint to narrow down the hiding spots and found the cache. Took Hot Wheels car (to make into a TB), left sig keychain, signed log. Logging for Coin Quest.

Out To LunchBy: nielsenc w/Glimcoil Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small
1:30pm I was out to lunch and after eating a delicious sandwich from Subway, I headed to the library, which I do often since I have half an hour to kill. As I was walking toward the entrance, who should I see, but Bullit. I waited for him to find the cache and signed the log...easiest find ever. [:D] We chatted for a while, then he was off for more caches and I was off to do some reading. TNLNSL.

Killarny Farms OakBy: CKayaks Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
Tried to find this one but after looking for about 15 minutes at the new location, it was getting a bid too cold for us. Called it a day but we'll try again.
