Pillow Lava, Pillows Too Hard To Sleep On

5:00pm This was our last Earthcache during our Christmas vacation down in Southern California. We got there with a few minutes to spare as daylight was fading. We parked closeby and got to take a few pics of the pillow lava. Mahalo for all the ECs!

3:11pm Stopped to grab this one and take a restroom break. Looked in a couple of spots before finding the cache. Took digitalfish, left geopin and my traveling Beach Cachoids geocoin (since there are numerous beaches nearby), signed log.

4:03pm Another stop on our Earthcaching day. Parked in the lot and made our way down the beach to the coords. Spotted the impressive formation and the layers in the rock. Took a few photos, then headed to the next EC. Two people in our group today. Thanks again!

3:18pm We hit another EC along the coast. Paid for parking, and made the long walk down to the beach. We stopped at the coordinates and took a few pics before heading back to the car. There were two people in our group. Thanks again for taking us to a great spot!

4:33pm Last of our Earthcaches today and it was a cool one, catching the spot at sunset. There was a small break in the berm, letting water in and out to the ocean. The layers we found weren't as prominent as the owner's photo but we could still make them out. There were two people in our group. Mahalo nui loa for the Earthcaches!

Monterey Formation Folds and Oil - Corona Del Mar

2:48pm We had a few free hours from the relatives so we decided to head back to the Newport Beach/Laguna Beach/Dana Point area to find a few more ECs. This was the furthest so we decided to start at this one. We parked and made the walk down to the beach. There were lots of muggles on the beach but none in the water it seemed. We found the folds and took a few pics. We tried looking for tar but didn't see any. Mahalo for another great EC and spot. There were two people in our group.

Edit to claim a find. We made it back up to the Aliso Point EC after loading it into my GPSr and PDA last night. We got to see both cool sites and one of them at sunset. There were four people in our group. Thanks again!

3:09pm It was also our first time in San Pedro, so we took a few side streets and wrong turns to finally get to the correct spot. It was neat to see the contact, similar to spots on Maui where you can see different layers that had formed over time. There were four people in my group.

12:12pm Found this one on the way to Sea World. Easy find but still camoed from muggles. TN, left my traveling New Zealand and Long Island geocoins, a clownfish TB, signed log. To whoever grabs the clownfish TB, could you please email me the TB# as I forgot to grab it from the last person who had it and I didn't write the number down. I just want to make sure its mileage is correct. Mahalo!

4:54pm #1200 We decided to make our latest milestone cache an Earthcache and this one was in the vicinity of our visit to Sea World. We made the short walk up to the cache site and admired the sandstone formations. We do wonder what would happen if there was an earthquake here, especially to the homes above. Mahalo!

12:50pm We're down visiting relatives in Carlsbad and decided to make the short drive to Temecula to do some caching and gambling. We overshot the parking lot but turned around and Jenn, her dad, and myself went looking. I picked the correct spot and found the cache in the first spot I checked. TNLNSL.

4:53pm I had a bunch of TB's, Jeeps, and coins that I held for too long so I figured this would be a great spot to drop them. Easy find, TN, left a bunch of TB's, a couple of Jeeps, my traveling Swiss and Kentucky geocoins and a Pez, signed log. The Sky was in the driveway so we rang the bell but M & J were out enjoying the nice day.

4:46pm We were on the way to M & J's house so we stopped at this one first. Took a couple of minutes to find, although Jenn had spotted it first but didn't say anything. The log was completely soaked through, so we took it to return to M & J and put in a new log, but it'll probably get soaked with the next rain too. TNLNSL.

2:38pm Very nice cache container! Themed very appropriately. Took a couple of looks before seeing the cache. Didn't stop for any drinks as there were still caches to find. TNLNSL.

Magical Pepper Tree

3:20pm This one took a while. First, we walked down the wrong side of the creek and had to turn around to get to the correct side. Then, since we had no idea what a pepper tree looked like, we kept inspecting the wrong tree. We had an idea of what we were supposed to look for but couldn't see anything. We finally had to call a lifeline and Batfish came through with a description of a pepper tree. With that info, we started to search the correct spot and Jenn made the find. Classic container! TNLNSL.
