Evatt Park - Temp

7:40pm We parked on the curb and saw that the cache was across the street. So we tried to cross the street for a few minutes but traffic was very busy. So we got back into the car and parked nearer to the cache. Spotted the cache right away as it's not really hidden. TNLNSL.

7:05pm I kouldn't quite make the konnection between what I thought I had to do and what I definitely had to do to solve the puzzle. I needed some help and a fellow kacher gave me another nudge. I got a few numbers but not all so I needed a bigger nudge. After that, I got the koords and we went out to look for the kache today. We checked a few spots until finally uncovering the kache. 6:25pm We drove by and of all places, Santa Clara's finest was parked nearby. So we drove off to find other caches then came back to this one on the way home. Coast was clear and we took about a minute to find the cache. Yep, it's not in the juniper but I still managed to draw blood while searching. TNLNSL.

5:40pm We parked at the nearby residential area and made the short walk over to the cache site. As we were approaching, we saw security driving by so we wanted until he passed. We overshot the cache and had to turn back. Easy find after that. Took new coords, LNSL.

6:12pm We've driven past this spot a couple of times before but there was always someone playing volleyball. Today, no one was around except for a few dogs walking their owners. Took a couple of glances to find but spotted the bold hide, like another cacher said. Yep, the contents were wet but the logsheet was still writeable. 5:28pm We've bypassed this one for a while now, over two years I suppose, since I heard it had a "height requirement" and the reports of ducks in the area. We decided to finally try it today and we had to use teamwork to grab and replace the cache but we managed. And no ducks either! TNLNSL.

Hayward Fault at Fremont's Central Park

7:59pm After trying to find the correct way to get to another Earthcache and not having much luck, we decided to stop at this one since we knew how to get there. We parked at the first spot, took a pic and got the answer, then drove to one of the park's parking lots and walked the rest of the way, finding all the waypoints. Along the way, we met up with a goose that had Jenn "shaken up" the rest of the way. Mahalo f or the EC!

6:18pm This one was a cool puzzle. I finally found the location using Google Maps and we made the walk out to the cache site today. It took a couple of minutes to find the first stage but I eventually did. When inputting the coords, I spotted a biker watching some birds. With our luck, I knew that's probably where the final cache would be. After plugging in the coords, the GPSr pointed us about twenty feet away from the biker. As we walked towards him, I guess he decided it was time to go, so he left and we got to search in peace. Spotted the nicely hidden cache and took digitalfish, left geopin, signed log.

Big Worm-Gear Needed

4:00pm #1500!!! We decided to come back for this one as our 1500th find and with the help of some hints from the owner and another cacher, thankfully I was able to have the cache in hand in about two minutes. Thankfully because there were some ducks down below quacking away and Jenn wasn't enjoying that. I'm not sure I put it back in the exact spot I found it but it's close. The logsheet is full and needs to be replaced so maybe df can make sure it's where it belongs. TNLNSL. Mahalo!

4:32pm The garden parking lot was empty but as we were getting our geocaching stuff together, someone pulled up. We thought it might be another geocacher, as he waved to us. He got out of the car and it wasn't a geocacher, just someone trying to find a Presbyterian Church. Not being from the area, I couldn't help him. Anyway, no one was in the garden so we could search without being interrupted. Spotted the cool cache pretty quickly and TN, left my Geoscrew Geocoin, signed log.

4:23pm We parked in the lot (within the lines) and walked over to the cache. At least we thought it was the spot. Nope, it was another forty feet away. So we walked over and spent another few minutes walking around until I finally spotted the cache. As I was replacing the cache, someone pulling out of the lot squealed his tires and cut someone off, which would have definitely gotten him a citation if law enforcement was around. TNLNSL.

7:13pm I had looked at this one a few times as I wanted to figure it out before we headed out to grab the surrounding caches, but nothing clicked. One day, it did click and I got the coords. We were going to grab this one a few weeks ago but a group of geese on the trail put and end to that. We came from the other direction (Palo Alto side) today and no geese, pretty much no birds near the trail at all. Anyway, the GPSr pointed us to right on top of the cache. Took a couple of TBs, left a couple of TBs and my traveling Kids Geocoin, signed log.

7:43pm This one took a few minutes as I checked certain spots but didn't see anything. I took my sunglasses off and I spotted the cache, in a place I had looked at before but I guess didn't see because of the darkness of my sunglasses. Didn't have time to sit and enjoy the spot as the wind was blowing and it was cold! Stupid me didn't take a jacket so we wanted to get back to the warmth of the car. TNLNSL.

But I remembered where the cache should be and when we drove up, it was an easy find, as the cache was on the ground. Add another DNF to the other 102 DNFs. I noticed there are more DNFs than finds, a true 4.5. We spent about 35 minutes there poking, prodding, feeling, etc. almost everywhere. We probably even touched the cache but didn't know it. We did run into the cache owner a few minutes later at REI and he gave us a few hints to narrow the spot down. We'll try again soon because we REALLY want to find it!

Tick-Tock Bus Stop

We were going to skip this one today but when we drove past there was no one at the bus stop so we decided to stop and have a try. Twenty minutes later, our hands were filthy and no cache. 5:19pm We were having a hard time finding LGT: Pruneyard so while we waited for a lifeline to call back, we walked down to this one. This one took a while until we thought about what the hint might mean and I spotted the cache. TNLNSL.

5:36pm We got to the cache site and started searching here and there, everywhere. After about fifteen minutes, we called a lifeline. We left a message on his voicemail and decided to go look for another cache down the trail. Our lifeline called and gave us a couple of hints. So after finding the other cache, we walked back and started searching some more. We still couldn't find anything, although I found a particularly nasty (as in evil) spot for a nano. So another call to our lifeline gave us another hint and this one led Jenn to spot the cache almost immediately. I can see why it's a 4 star hide even though it might not really be. TNLNSL.

7:32pm We were just about to park in front of the cache, when we saw a man jumping up and down crazily, like he was doing jumping jacks. He was only trying to flag the attention of a taxi cab drive, which he succeeded in doing. We did another lap around the parking lot until he finally got into the cab. 7:43pm Our coords pointed us to a home on the corner, with someone sitting outside. We walked up and asked if this was the home with the geocache? He said no it wasn't, but he told us it was the yard next door. We apologized but he said he tells cachers all the time which yard was the correct one. 8:00pm Took a while to figures this out and a hint from the owner, but I finally figured it out. At the first try to find the cache, there was someone parked in the adjacent lot, looking our way so we didn't even try to look for it. The second try was at night a couple of months later, but there were a couple of people looking through bags of bottles and cans next to the cache so we left. We tried again tonight and the coast was clear. Used the shoe-tying distraction to replace the cache. TNLNSL.

5:36pm This one was a nice multi, checking out the various sculptures along the way. When I plugged in the final coords, I saw that the cache was in a park so thought they made sense. Then I reread the description and saw that the cache should be in the same vicinity as the art. So Jenn checked my math and found I had written down a wrong number and after the correction, she made the find. Took DuckeyLee sig item, left a geopin, signed log.

6:00pm We took a nice stroll around the park, dodging mini-muggles running all over the place. We couldn't find the Patriot Corner until we looked around and thought, Hey, we haven't gone to that part of the park, maybe it's there. And yep, there it was. Got the final coords and then took about ten minutes to finally find the cache, although we had been searching around it for a while. TNLNSL.

Somewhere with No Strings Attached

We decided to try this one again today as we had DNFed it previously. As we approached the site, we saw someone standing on the bridge. We passed him and said hello. We continued down the street until I looked back and thought I saw something in the man's hand, which I hadn't seen before. Could it be a cacher? I saw him jump over the guardrail so we thought, hmmm, maybe he's searching for the cache. So we walk back and instead of a cacher, he was a fruit picker. There's some sort of cherry-like fruit beyond the guard rail and he was putting them into a plastic bag, the object I must have seen. Anyway, we kept walking and will try again some other time.

Napping at the Salt House

9:32am On the way to this cache, I remembered I hadn't grabbed a pen. I thought I might as well go look for it and improvise if I have to. Using the hints I got to the area and no one was around. Made the easy grab and used a leaf and my Palm stylus to write my name and date in green. [:D] TNLNSL.

Somewhere in the Baylands

7:30pm We enjoyed a nice afterwork stoll along the Baylands, dodging the ducks and geese. When we got to the cache site, it was either this one or that one. I choose wrong first and found a couple of bugs. The cache is nicely constructed and should last. TNLNSL.

6:47pm We had just visited the Japanese Garden and walked down to this one. We finally found what the hint was referring to and as I started looking for something magnetic, Jenn made the find. I guess the container's changed. Anyway, after TNLNSL, we pretended to take some pictures to replace the cache. Nice hide! I proposed to my wife on New Year's Eve, on my parents' deck over looking the Pacific Ocean and Haleakala. The New Year's fireworks had just ended and it was a great moment to pop the question. She said yes and we were married on Maui last October.
