Tafoni of the Sandstone CavesBy: Erickson Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Not chosen
5:36pm This was our destination cache of the day and by the time we got here, it was freezing! But we stuck it out and took our time checking out the awesome formations and reading the great information panel at the observation deck. Thanks for the great Earthcache!

The TafoniBy: geekster Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small
5:50pm We checked out the nearby tafoni formations, then it was off to find this cache. By this time in the day, it was getting really cold and at this spot it was windy. My GPSr was leading me to spots I didn't think were right. Jenn said, hey, that looks like a good spot and what do you know, there was the cache. My fingers were so cold that I had a hard time opening the cache but I managed. TN, left my traveling Motogrrl Africa geocoin, signed log.
The MotherlodeBy: geekster & tavahi Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular
6:04pm We had a hard time finding this one as our GPSr was taking us up this trail, then down another. So after searching for it for about ten minutes, we did another few caches, then tried this one again before heading home. It still took another few minutes until I searched a spot I hadn't before and there was the cache. TN, left my traveling GBES geocoin, signed log.
Portola TreasuresBy: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small
7:01pm On the way up to do some caching at El Corte Madera, I spotted the sign. So on the way down I decided to stop again to take a photo and see if it was waymarked. I looked at my GPSr and hey, what do you know, a cache. So we got the needed info, took photos of the sign, then off to the second stage. There we found the cache, another possible waymark and a benchmark too. There was a bit of water in the cache but I turned it upside down while we were signing the log to get it all out. Still a bit damp though. TNLNSL.
Triple Madrone ViewBy: Rain734 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular
5:17pm Our first cache of the day and a nice spot at that. We went up to check out the view and have some lunch before finding the cache. Our GPSr had a good lock and led us right to the spot. TN, left my traveling Two Happy Hikers Geocoin and a traveling Guardian Geocoin and a keychain, signed log.

We attended last year's GW5 and since this one is a few thousand miles closer, of course we'll be attending! Add two from the South Bay to the list of attendees.
GW6 Pep RallyBy: BADGES Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen
I went into work early today so I took an extra long lunch to attend the event. Lots of great conversation and yummy pizza and pastrami sandwiches. We've been registered for GW6 for a while now, although I have to go check to see if I added a Will Attend to GW6. Thanks again for a fun lunchtime event!

Nefertiti's Pyramid: Royal GatesBy: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
5:17pm This one was easy with the hint. I wrote down the info but had to hurry up as we heard what I think was a peacock nearby. Jenn wanted out of the area ASAP. BTW, there's a small restroom at the new parking lot nearby. TNLNSL.
Nefertiti's Pyramid: OfferingsBy: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
5:26pm Our last Nefertiti cache of the day. I made the small ascent and grabbed the cache, which is now a decon container. Took the Guardian geocoin, left my traveling Yellow Mailer geocoin, signed log.
Nefertiti's Pyramid: UnderworldBy: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
4:18pm This one took a few moments until Jenn made the find. Lots of muggles passing by but hopefully they just thought we were looking at the creek. TN, left my traveling Mauison's Annuit Coeptis Geocoin, a traveling San Diego geocoin, and a traveling Micro Vegas geocoin, signed log.
Nefertiti's Pyramid: ShrineBy: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
3:59pm Igor was our cache destination but we decided to look for a few of the Nefertiti's series as well. This was our first cache of the day and what a nice day for caching it was. Sunny, blue sky, everything's green and an easy cache find. TNLNSL.
Tamarack GateBy: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
5:44pm Our last cache of the day and it took a while as a spider had spun its web on the cache, making it blend in even more with its surroundings. Thanks for another trailhead cache. We love these caches that let us know where the "secret" trailheads are. TNLNSL.
IgorBy: Mike Hildum Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen
4:40pm This was our cache destination of the day and boy it was a doozy, definitely not a terrain 1.5, more than likely at least a 3, but I guess back in 2000, there weren't many caches to compare the terrain to. Jenn waited about halfway up and I made the rest of the way up to the cache. Had to dodge some barbed wire and also some poison oak right next to the cache. I found the lid so replaced it. Thanks for the oldie! TNLNSL.
Knick Knack Paddy Whack ?By: OT_Tucker Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Large
6:07pm We did a couple of U-turns before finding the correct side of the street to search. Very cool cache and watch out for the "poop"! As we were looking through things a cop cruised by but didn't stop. Phew! Took a couple of traveling geocoin, NLSL.
Hanging and Waiting to be foundBy: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
5:33pm We had a nice walk along the river today finding a couple of caches. This one took a few minutes as it definitely blended in. We didn't have a pen to sign so I tried to use a rusty nail to engrave the logsheet. TNLNSL.
HEY! I'm hanging over hereBy: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
5:18pm This one took a while as we eventually found the cache on the ground. We also found out we didn't have a pen to sign the cache with so I tried with a leaf, then sort of engraved our name onto the logsheet. I'll email the cache owner to let them know where we left the cache.

The Big GulpBy: PurplePeople Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
5:36pm It took us a few minutes to make the find, as our GPSr took us here and there. I finally spotted the cache in the general area that Jenn had been looking at previously. Cool cache! TNLNSL.
Lower CrestviewBy: the voucher Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro
6:03pm We had to dodge a few sprigs of PO but nothing in the general area of the cache. We actually went past the cache by about thirty feet, as our GPSr was leading us that way. We turned around the spotted the cache using the clue. TNLNSL.
Polly wants a cacheBy: dollarman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular
5:02pm We walked too far along the trail, then had to double back. I spotted the cache from the trail and made my way to it. I saw a glass star nearby and put it back into the cache. TN, left my traveling Virginia geocoin, signed log.
Edgewood's Front DoorBy: PurplePeople Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
6:26pm After hiking a few miles, a near drive up cache was greatly appreciated. Only checked a couple of spots before I had the cache in hand. TNLNSL.
Off The Leash - A Kids' CacheBy: PurplePeople Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular
4:21pm It was a very nice day today so after sleeping in a bit, we decided to go on a hike. I wanted to go find Doggie Do so Pulgas Ridge Preserve was our destination. After hiking up from the parking lot, we started hiking down the Bishop Trail until I saw we were walking further away from the cache. So we backtracked and I saw the correct trail to take. It was an easy find and I took a couple of TBs, left my traveling Team Desert Geocoin, signed log.
Pulgas ParkingBy: PurplePeople Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
6:13pm Our last find of the day at Pulgas Ridge Preserve. We'll have to come back for the caches along the 2.2 mile trail some day. This was an easy find, although what we thought was the cache wasn't the cache after all but the real cache was nearby. TNLNSL.
Take A RestBy: NavySparksandtheMrs Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small
6:34pm We decided to find one more cache before heading home after an afternoon of caching at Pulgas Ridge. Parked nearby and made our way to the cache site. Easy find and TN, left my traveling All American Geocoin, signed log.
Doggie Do (revived!)By: Paul Hoff - > Team Dralasites - > crawburr ! Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular
4:52pm This was our cache destination today and we had a nice time in the Preserve today. We got to stage one, then started looking. Not finding anything, we looked some more. Finally, something clicked and we were able to get the coords to stage two. Stage two was an easy find as we took in the great view. TN, left my traveling Bigfoot Geocoin, signed log. Love these oldies!
Cordilleras Creek CacheBy: Effie, Caleb, Paul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular
5:47pm I was hesitant to try this one after reading about the poison oak but I decided to go look for it while Jenn waited on the bench. I found a fairly clear path, not too much poison oak and easily avoidable, had to jump a little creek. Got to the top and took a couple of minutes to make the find. Yes, the lid is cracked and now unfortunately, when I was trying to take the logbook out of the ziploc bag, it ripped right in half. So now the logbook is exposed so a maintenance run is highly recommended. Sorry about that! TNLNSL.
Appreciation of OSPsBy: ed777 Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular
2:35pm I figured this one out quite a while ago but didn't get to the area until today. It was windy walking down to the cache and that made it very chilly. But once we got out of the breeze, it was warm which made the walk nice. Found the cache easily and TNLNSL.
End of the Trail 2: Lambert CreekBy: darrenk13 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular
4:30pm Wow, only 37 finds in over three and a half years! Well, we found out why. It was a long way down (well, only half a mile) and when we got to the bottom, we realized we had to walk all the way back up. We saw some fire newts along the way squiggling around a mud puddle so that was kind of cool. Along the way back up, we first passed one muggle on the way down, then another group of two. One of them said, "Human beings are the last thing I thought I'd see on this trail!" Guess it doesn't get used too often. =) TN, left my Mauison traveling World Caching - Ocean Geocoin, signed log.
Farewell CA CacheBy: Punsmann (Adopted by Marky) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular
4:00pm When we first passed by the cache, there were muggles down near the creek so we went off to find another cache. When we got back, the coast was clear and we found the cache blended into its surroundings very nicely. TN, left my traveling Mauison Team OleOmi/Allinfun Geocoin, signed log.
Born FreeBy: Mark and Alex Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen
3:43pm This was our chosen to-do cache of the day as it's one of the oldest in the area. We took the long switchback way up and since there are many more fallen trees since there was over seven years ago, we checked a few spots before letting our GPSr to its job. The coords were very good, even under the tree cover. Took the Team Ottlet sig token, left a geopin and bead necklace and my traveling Mauison Mexico Geocoin, signed log. Thanks for the oldie!
