'Iao Needle (Volcanic/Basalt & Erosion)By: tigerboys Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen
4:01pm Since it was hot and humid this afternoon, we all decided to head up to Iao to cool off in the shade and mountain breezes. After we got the last spot in the parking lot, we made our way up to the lookout to check out the Needle. Lots of people at the lookout checking out the views. Took a photo, then headed for the trail along the Stream. Lived here almost our entire lives and never knew about the specific volcanics that made up Maui. Thanks for the EC!

Ugh...once again, we're the first DNF on a cache with only finds. Went looking for this one myself, since my parents and Jenn didn't want to go into the brush. Not too bad though, I've done a lot more bushwhacking at other caches. My GPSr kept taking me from spot to spot so I searched a bunch of spots. Didn't spot anything but kept looking. Eventually, my dad came to check on me and helped me search for a few minutes. Gave up for the day but since we walk here a couple of times a week, I'll be back. Maybe I can convince the whole family to help me search.
Town Center CacheBy: Konacoffee Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
Our first Oahu cache! Staying nearby at a friend's home and while waiting for them to get home, we stopped by the town center and got to find this cache as well. Cool hide! TNLNSL.

5:11pm After DNFing this previously, we knew we had to find this one before moving back to Hawaii. So after dropping our car off to be shipped across the Pacific Ocean, we headed to the Baylands with parents in tow to try to find this one again. We parked at the main parking lot, not having to pay the entrance fee because the guard station wasn't being manned. Made the walk out to the cache and started searching. Amazingly, after about 15 minutes, I spotted something and it was the cache. I walked away, announced I had found it, then let everyone else try to find it. Since we had a dinner to get to with friends, I narrowed their search down until they spotted it. What an awesome cache, blends in perfectly with its surroundings. Glad to find this one, mahalo for the challenge! TNLNSL.

While my wife and mom were waiting to buy their ice cream across the street, my dad and myself went looking for this cache. We weren't looking for too long, when Daryl, who worked at the info booth, noticed our Hawaii shirts and struck up a long conversation, since he was originally from Hawaii. My wife and mom eventually came over with the ice cream and when we told Daryl we were geocachers looking for the cache, he gave us a hint. Found the cache shortly thereafter. TNLNSL.

4:32pm This one took a while, even though we parked pretty close to it. We walked around in circles until we found the correct spot. Made the quick find and grab after that. Signed our name in an empty spot. TNLNSL.
Red Lake 6By: HighSierraLakes Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
6:08pm On our way to Lake Tahoe and we stopped to take in the view of Red Lake. Decided to check if there was a cache there and there was! So we parked the car and went looking for the cache. Quick find, TN, left a geocoin, signed log. Then took a couple of quick photos.
Turner's TreatsBy: Wildlifeguy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro
3:56pm On the way from Yosemite to Lake Tahoe and stopped for a few caches (and new counties) along the way. This was our first stop. There was a muggle parked nearby but it looked like he was reading a book so we went searching for the cache. Spotted it pretty quickly and made the grab. TNLNSL.

6:00pm On our way from Yosemite to Lake Tahoe and stopped here to grab a new county cache. The last time we were in Kirkwood was 12/03 for some snowboarding. Today it was much warmer in the area. Drove to the boat ramp, took a quick photo, then we were on our way. Nice spot, especially with the sun out.
Penny Pines 2By: pfargo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small
3:36pm We drove down the partially paved road, then parked outside the (open) gate, then walked to the cache site. Took a minute or so to spot the cache. When I grabbed some swag to leave in the cache, I discovered I had grabbed a Sea World smashed penny and a copper benchmark pin! How appropriate for this cache! TN, left a penny, pin, something shiny, signed log.

4:15pm We walked way too far for this one, first walking down to the hill, then back up. Should have just taken the faint geotrail. Once we got to the correct spot, we made the quick find. Took the traveling Triad Geocoin, LNSL. Also found some ladybugs living under some fallen bark further down the hill.

4:00pm We've driven past this spot many times, as we're staying in a "cabin" down the road while we visit Yosemite. We've seen the sheep and lamb many times and today, we noticed they had all been shorn bare! This cache took us a while to find, as we first walked right past it and searched other object first. Jenn finally spotted the cache and I made the grab. Took a couple of geocoins, left a couple of geocoins and a geopin, signed log.
Big Oak RoadBy: yosemitesu Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular
5:04pm This took a few minutes to get to the oak, as we couldn't find the correct trail not covered with fallen poison oak leaves. We eventually found the trail and saw the oak. Made the quick find and took the traveling Lori and Bill geocoin, LNSL. This should probably be a terrain 2, definitely not a 1.
In The Rim Of The WorldBy: Death_on_Wings Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
3:22pm We'd driven past this spot a few times, but had never stopped to look for the cache. Today, on the way back out of Yosemite, we stopped and searched for the cache. Made the quick find, then took in the view. TNLNSL.

6:26pm In the Yosemite area for my brother's wedding on 8/8. We got to go to Glacier Point and Washburn Point for the first time, since the last time we came in April of 08, the road wasn't open yet. Spectacular views from both points, even found the benchmark at GP. Mahalo for the VC!

4:58pm After the Aloha Festival in the Presidio, we decided to drive around before heading back to where we're staying. We had driven past this spot many times but never stopped so we decided to stop and check out the view. And there was a cache here! We got the coords quickly (although I kept adding wrong so the checksum wasn't working out) and made the short hike to the cache spot. After waiting out a few muggles walking past, we made the grab. TN, left my traveling MOGA 2008, Temecula 2007, and GeoBingo geocoins, and something shiny, signed log.
