Cacciatore del Anatra B-Day

By: Anatra Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Was listening to a CD in my truck and blew right by this one. At some point I checked my GPS and made the return trip. Saw the cache before I even got out. Thanks!

Doc's Geo Cache V

By: The Doc Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I came to Henry Coe State Park because I thought the rain would let up (I was wrong!) When I paid my parking fees the rangers asked me where I was going, so I mentioned the trail that I knew led to the cache. They said 'Well I hope you have a good rain jacket then" and they gave me a map, with the trail highlighted. Actually what I had was a windshirt made for golf (its the most waterproof thing I own!). So off I went up the trail, and it wasn't raining hard at all, and I found the cache in short order (an anteater led me to it). Thanks for the adventure.

Higher Than You Think: Hardcore Hiker #1

By: Abraxas Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

I had just found 'Doc's Geo Cache V', and and had been noticing signs along the trail reading 'Mount Sizer 5.5 miles' and then 'Mount Sizer 3.5 miles' etc. I don't know at what point I decided to do it, but there I was heading down to the Coyote Creek in the rain, and eyeing the trail on the other side of the creek heading steeply up into the clouds. Reaching Coyote Creek, I found that it had a good amount of water flowing, but it was still crossable. The rangers had warned me that enough rain could make it temporarily impassible due to high water level. When I made it up to Blue Ridge, the wind started blowing around 20 mph, the mist was blowing right across the trail. Found the cache in short order, rescued the Moby Travel Bug, who'd been up there for a while, and left a bag of marbles. I made my way back to the car, total time spent was 6 hours round trip from and to the car. Loved the park, it was my first time here, I'll be back, thanks.

Ohlone Wilderness 1; Midway

By: VA SLIM Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

It IS all about the hike. Started at 7:30am, early enough that the Sunol kiosk wasn't open, so I didn't have to pay for entrance. I biked as far as the 'W' tree, stashed the bike, then took a left turn and followed the Ohlone wilderness trail right to the cache. Wonderful views from the cache in all directions. Met up with a few cows (shooo cows!), a couple of hikers, and a backpacker on the trail. After all that hiking, it was nice to see that the cache was a full size one with good coordinates. Total mileage the way I did it was 17 and one quarter miles. Thanks!

Equinox Sky Camp

By: GeoROCKS! Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

GeoRocks you got me! It was brain fade really, I had hiked out to Midway, and figured I'd find this one on the way back. DNF'd 'On the wings of eagles'. I picked the wrong trail from there and ended up way below the cache, and I was too tired to climb back up. I'll be back!

LeChuck's Cursed Treasure

By: LeChuck Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I don't know what is more entertaining, the cache report or finding it. After an initial scan of the area, with my GPS wandering all over, I finally had to ask myself 'Where would a pirate hide treasure?'. Thanks.

Tolman Gate Cache

By: VA SLIM Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Micro

I took advantage of the break in the rain to go up and find the cache. Nice views all around. Thanks.
