g.S.F.R?T. Moving Cache

By: 26 Fe via SirGerald, adopted by BuckyD Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

[Cache has been replaced. This is a busy area, with a few different hiding places -- difficulty 2, terrain 1. My EPE was about 38' on the 4 readings I took. Hint:] extra

Bovine Inspiration

By: X-C Girl and Searoom Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Thanks for a fun trek around the Lake district! I was in the wrong footwear for this one, but I managed to get the cache anyway. I don't recommend flip-flops to future cachers. Also, watch out for the evil weed in the area. Took the Washington TB, I'll see what I can do to get it near a north-going freeway. Didn't see the other TB. TFTC!

Who's Lyon?

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

Came back to try this one after a little guidance from WalruZ. I had overlooked this spot yesterday with all the GPSr and exercise chaos. Had good reception today and just had to time things right. Thanks!

Tatanka

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

GG park can definitely be sketchy at night, particularly out this far, so I made a lunch run to grab this one. Unfortunately, it wasn't a grab sorta day, as there were a steady stream of people around. Hung around a bit and made a few phone calls after figuring out the hiding area(s), grabbed the cache during a lull, then hung onto it for quite some more time waiting for another lull. Don't all these people work!?! No Tatanka today, but I've seen 'em before. Traded bugs, TFTC!

Who's Lyon?

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

Came by at the end of the lunch hour, and man was this place hoppin! I found the plaque about 120 feet from where the GPSr thought I should have found it, and then headed back to where I had been for the find. The GPSr was pointing me smack into the middle of the street. It was a really nice day in SF at lunchtime, which means that its really hard to cache in this kind of area unless you know exactly what you're going for. I managed to find an empty can, an empty fifth of something, a lighter, some random smoking (of what... I don't know) paraphenalia, but not a micro cache. I'm surprised the neighbors put up with that kind of behavior here. I'll have to return and finish this one when there are less folks to worry about, and I can be more sure of the coordinates!

Mini Park Cache (Sunnyside Conservatory)

By: brettmalone Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

21:45 Second to find, behind "Roberto", but first to log (borrowed that one from dyknomight!). Anyhow, the GPSr was jumping around a bit, but narrowed it down in the dark with the clue and the motion-detecting lighting. Nice area to come and sit a bit, and not really apparent from the street. TN, L The Lost Dutchman TB. Jar might need some cammo to last. TFTC!

Totally Awesome and Sweet

By: kev110382 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

22:10 Took a little walk to get to this and enjoyed a fuzzy view of Eastern SF. Followed the geotrail and found easily. I had been procrastinating this one, but the foliage wasn't as problematic as I thought it was going to be. Left a TB. TFTC!

Doug's Addiction

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

22:45 It took a while for the GPSr to decide which area it was pointing to, but I finally narrowed the area down after a few strolls back and forth. After looking around a bit in the dark, it finally dawned on me what I should be pointing the flashlight at. Found quickly after that. Took the mini caribiner, Left a pen. Thanks!

Willie's Cache: A LooneyTunes Puzzle Cache

By: LooneyTunes Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

Stepped up to the plate tonight after working late. I rounded 1st base, but didn't see the bag to touch it, so my 1st base coach stepped in and gave me a hint. I then easily sprinted around the remaining bases to hit home. I am not sure that 1st base hasn't been lifted, but I won't assume anything so I won't log this as a find until the missing base is verified!

g.S.F.R?T. Moving Cache

By: 26 Fe via SirGerald, adopted by BuckyD Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I've checked on my last placement, and you won't find it there. I'll be updating this with new coordinates this weekend.

Southern Cross

By: TeamMoehrke Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

On my way out for the weekend with a little extra time at the terminal, so I thought I'd walk over and check it out! Thanks for the diversion from the maddening summer travel crowds. The answers are on their way.

Candlestick Point

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Came by with Woof! this morning to see what we could see and hear what we could hear. Posted hours are 8 to 8, but we pretended not to notice the signs. After some improv at the first waypoint, we headed over to the cache site. Woof! is quicker than I with these things and found the cache first. Unfortunately it wasn't in very good shape, but we put it back as best we could. Took Winnie the Pooh TB, SL. Thanks.

Poet's Peak

By: Dr. Zaius and WalruZ Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

My 2nd stop on tonight's MUNIcaching trip. It makes it just a little more challenging to navigate the SF bus and trolley system to the cache sites without having to tromp up hills. For this one, there was no way around the hike! I got a 2-fer on crazy people at the cache site tonight, but it was nice to see how both the other thirds live... One of the neighboring buildings has a tennis court with a view. TFTC.

Pacific Heights

By: Dr. Zaius Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

[Last stop on my MUNIcaching trip tonight after work. Unfortunately bus 12 doesn't run past Van Ness after a certain hour anymore, and I had to hoof it up the hill a few blocks. Then hoof it over to Fillmore to catch a bus in the general direction of home. I could probably use the exercise anyway. Pretty quiet up here on a Tuesday night -- no parties and no car-moving, probably since street-sweeping isn't until Thursday!] The bedding in the bush threw me off a bit, but the cache was still there! [TNLNSL, Thanks!]

SOMA Little Pictures

By: kablooey Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I had been putting this one off for some time, largely because I hadn't ever done a photo cache and I'm not really secure about walking alone in that particular neighborhood. I had nothing to worry about, really, as long as I left work early enough... Tonight was another MUNIcache night, and this one kicked off the evening. Took the tour, found everything except #5 and #8 (well, it looks a little different now, anyway). TNLNSL, TFTC!

Parrot's Perch

By: Dr. Zaius (adopted by CKayaks 1/2007) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Another adventure on MUNI to cache after work... There was some guy sitting there drawing into a big journal and he wasn't moving anytime soon. So, to make the best of the situation, I visually scoped out potential hiding places and then left to run an errand for a TB I'm holding onto. When I came back it was dark, the guy was gone, and I knew right where to go. No parrots either time, they must've been out to dinner or sleeping. I think I've done my fair share of stairs for a while! TNLNSL, thanks.

Jul 18, 2004

Sierra Point Surprise

By: SacredPhish Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

A nice area, very quiet here on Sunday evening with no wind and a slow fog bank fighting the hills to get here. The mothership is pretty cool too! TNLNSL -- TFTC.

Jul 17, 2004

Clipper Cove Musical Cache

By: graymalkin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Made a special trip here with Woof! to coincide with low tide, picking a day when that wasn't in the wee hours of the morning! That was the difficult part, the rest was a walk on the beach. Woof! beelined to the hide while I was still wandering around looking at the plant life the tide had uncovered... Thanks for a unique #200 while staying within the city limits, TNLNSL.

Union Square

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

So we were in the area... Yeah, hints. Need those. Woof! and I were having little luck initially, and the place was starting to fill with people as the charter buses were unloading their cargo right into the square. We looked at each other and knew the hints were going to have to come out. I hadn't run a PQ since this was listed, so I only had the coords punched in. Needless to say, without caching with Woof! this morning I would have another Did-Not-Finish on my list... TFTC.

Heron's Head Park

By: AuntFlora/WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Decided to find just about the only place in SF this morning that one could see the sunlight! I would have never ventured into this neighborhood without the pull of a cache. I saw a family of herons frolicking (as herons do) on my way to the cache, and also got to see the new projects side by side with the old projects. Interesting mix of views around here. Anyway, very good cammo for this area. The lid on the container is cracked, so the next finder should probably bring some ziplocs to protect the log and other items until the owner can fix it somehow... TFTC.

Mom's Wild Ride

By: The Owl and The Pussycat Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

By the time I found where I needed to be after work yesterday, it was way too dark to get out there and hunt for the cache. I got here a little earlier today and the coords were pointing right there! Thanks!

Es Effo Bug Hotel

By: bthomas Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Bug drop -- Belgian Waffle TB wants to head to Belgium for a race its in. I didn't see some of the bugs currently listed; a little unregistered activity, perhaps? The cache was pretty full, so I took two bugs to my one in order to close it up.

Point San Bruno

By: mjp303 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I came by well after work hours tonight, so only a lone fisherman out -- and he had his back to me. I looked around and then started to "violate" a structure, but decided -- prudently -- to stop and read the hint. It had me puzzled for a moment, but then I had an "aha" moment. Easy find at that point. No TB, just the log, in the cache. TFTC.

Quackie Quack

By: DKAK Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I, too, can't believe I didn't find a terrain1, gallon-sized container here. I guess I was distracted by the nesting ducklings and their mom, who was a little irritated that I came upon them. I'll be back.

...smells just as sweet.

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze (adopted by CaliSeaSta Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Wow, this wasn't what I was looking for, but I'm glad I found it. It took some time, as the GPSr was bouncing around and I was looking for a different container. Took serenity prayer chip and left a keychain. TFTC!

Secret Garden

By: Spider Woman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Was on campus today for a conference and thought I'd grab the ones nearby. Neat cammo job, and I got a two-fer garden special -- one desert version, one grass version! Took cassette and TB, left CD.

Little House at the Park

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

With the whole park area under construction and off limits, the cache area has become a hotbed of activity, apparently. I was there before lunch and the place was hoppin'. I went to my work meeting at Stanford and came back around 6, and a huge bus of senior citizens had just let out... Managed to overcome my fear of being watched and tried to blend in to get the cache. TFTC!

Lyle Park Cache Lives!

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze (adopted by CaliSeaSta Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I just about found this one by accident, trying to position myself in an awkward manner to shield where I was going to look from a nearby grandma and child. This is definitely not a park to cache in at 11 am on a sunny weekday! Lots of folks around suspicious of a lone adult... Thanks for the hide!

Menlo Park Rest Stop

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze (adopted by CaliSeaSta Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

On a sort of ChrissySkyking and Blaze half-marathon of micros today, apparently. This was another one I hung out for a bit, and then went to a couple other caches and came back. I was there just before the lunch hour, but a woman was planted near the cache on the phone. When I figured out that she wasn't leaving and I wasn't getting the cache around her, I decided I'd get it a bit later. When I came back a half hour later, the coast was clear! TFTC.

Valley of the Serpent

By: Kreebelle & Kids (maintained by WalruZ) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

For a while I was searching for the wrong cache, but as soon as I figured out which end was up, I found pretty easily. Thanks for a cache close to a work meeting today -- made the field trip much more enjoyable! TNLNSL, Thanks!

Tongue Radius: A LooneyTunes Puzzle Cache

By: LooneyTunes Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

[Grabbed this one on a lunch break from a very long conference nearby. I love this guy's work, I just wish there had been a little breeze today! ] Auguste Rodin

Stanford Hospital Parking Lot

By: kablooey Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Had fun playing with part one, but then got to part two and looked around. Made a few attempts, read hint, made a few more attempts. Didn't know my right from my left by that point. Ran out of time and had to go back to the conference. Came back after conference was over. Moved car to free parking. It was a little cooler. I was happy. Stuck my hands in a few mo re places. Gave up. I'm supposed to be back here tomorrow for work (we'll see), so perhaps I'll try again.

Lost and Foundation

By: Laird Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Easy find in an eerie area! It's amazing how different Treasure Island is from just about anywhere else in the City. Lots of stuff in the cache for a micro, but TNLNSL. Thanks!

DNA

By: dgreno Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Grabbed this cache on a TI caching evening after work. A couple was hanging out nearby, but not terribly interested in me. This is an unique view of the Bay Bridge that I had not experienced before! TFTC.

T-aye!

By: Laird Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Is this place always this deserted? Before hunting for this one, I came to the rescue of some guys in the area that needed a jumpstart. After my good geocacher deed for the day, I found the cache after they had gone on their way. For some reason, this one took longer than it should have to find. TFTC!

What a Sight!

By: Allwayslooking Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

What a great history lesson, right on the cache site! Thanks for a great SF Bay afternoon! Email is on its way...

Island 2: Treasure Island

By: LooneyTunes Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Nice day on the island, and it was pretty quiet along the trail after work. Dropped off Al-K-Taz TB who would've really liked to be on the next island... TFTC!

Henry's Hidden Box

By: mjrose381 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Easy find on a warm Pleasanton summer day! Icon Daddy and I left the event nearby to catch a few of the old-timer caches in the park, and weren't disappointed. TNLNSL, Thanks for the hide.

Once an Orchard

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The park across the street was practically my second home growing up, so I remember the trees that used to cover this block (save for the OSH) very well. I also remember that they were VERY off limits! We used to sneak onto the property to see if someone would come and shoo us off. I only remember someone hollering at us once. Rumor around my elementary school was that they kept a bunch of wild dogs onsite just to bite little kids that tried to climb the trees and get some cherries! I think there still might be a cherry tree in Las Palmas Park, but there sure aren't any in Borders! I'm also amazed at the number of apartments they've crammed together here. This isn't the town I grew up in anymore! Easy find on this Sunday night -- not too many people in this part of the area. TFTC.

A Pepper Picnic in the Park

By: Marky & Joani & Hotfoot Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

Thanks to all for the great day in Pleasanton -- I'm glad to properly meet most of you for the first time! I wasn't sure I had the coords loaded in for this one, so I approached the large parking areas with trepidation. Luckily, the GPSr found the waypoint and led me in the right direction. Took several bugs and a few good tips on GPS hardware, Left happy, salad-filled tummies (hopefully).

Haunted Toys

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I like stopping in my old 'hood when I'm driving to and from someplace, just to see if they've put up any new high-density housing, so I usually pick a good drive-by when I know I'll be in transit. Today was the day to visit the ghost! My high school boyfriend actually worked here when we were in school, and I spent many a late night waiting here to pick him up after work. We never saw anything unusual, though, which has contributed to my cynical nature, I suppose. Figured this one out pretty easily, and replaced the missing log. No TB in cache, but there was another finder today that has yet to log... Took something -- a bracelet I think, Left Chuck E. Cheese tokens, signed new log. TFTC!

Old Blue Eyes

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I came by here tonight because, as it turns out, a good friend of mine happens to live down the street. Unfortunately, I was attracting WAY too much attention looking for this one -- the park wasn't busy enough to be ignored and not desolate enough to go unnoticed! I'll be back...

C Monster

By: Cachin' Katie and Sandi Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Found with IconDaddy today during the nearby event cache. I don't think this is quite a 1 terrain anymore, but there was no worries for this crew. TFTC!

A Hole In One

By: drinkprimus3 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Another neat hide just off I80 -- there were some very bored employees across the street that I needed to watch, but eventually it wasn't interesting to watch me watch the ducks anymore. Found in the only place I wouldv'e hidden anything in the area. Cache was really, really full, so I took the bag of jacks to move along to another cache, and left the Ninja Racer TB who is on the way to Utah. Thanks.

A Basic Micro

By: TeamMoehrke Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Experienced this type of hide enough to know that was the first place to look. There was a minivan with all its doors open across the way, but it didn't seem to be peopled, so I went for it. Of course I looked in the non-cache spot before I found the one that was! Blame it on the GPSr I guess... TNLNSL, Thanks!

Vitameatavegamin

By: Johnny Vegas and Julie Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

My GPSr was jumping around, so in between nosey shoppers I managed to look in two of the places that I thought it might be. No dice. I'll try to catch this the next time I'm up this way.

The Lady from Shanghai: A LooneyTunes Movie Cache

By: LooneyTunes Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Neat hide -- and larger than I was expecting. It wasn't quite low tide, but a beautiful day in Sausalito along the shoreline. A methodical approach to this one was the best way for me. TNLNSL.

Seymour Butts was Here!

By: Andy and Robin adopted by Wild Spirit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Came around noon for this one, but there was too much activity in the area, so I hit it on my way back home around 8:30. Looks like a nice park for a party. TFTC!

By: forman Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Thanks for the bathroom break! At 11 am things were just ramping up around here, and the cache area was reasonably clear. Thanks!

Deadline USA

Stopped by on my way back to San Francisco from Vacaville. Thanks for the rest stop!

Cloudview Cache

By: LooneyTunes Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

First of 10 caches from Marin to Vacaville today. I found the location easy from the highway, but getting down to the waterfront afterwards was a different story. Swapped out the plastic bag the log was in for a ziploc I had handy, but otherwise TNLNSL. Thanks!

A lonely green bench

By: drinkprimus3 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

I was so happy to find something other than a micro by the time I came by this one today (~5:30), that I took my time in the area. Took a disney McToy and dropped off Liz's Lizard TB. TFTC!

Boulder Valley

By: The HotWheels Gang Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I have a sneaking suspicion that I stepped on it several times... It was 4:30 and still really hot out, or I might have had the patience to stay there and be a bit more methodical about things. One of 3 DNFs on a 10-find day.

A Basic Virtual

By: TeamMoehrke Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

What a strange place for this plaque, but I learned something today about Vacaville. I don't ever remember driving by an onion drying plant on the way up to Tahoe before... Answers have been emailed. Thanks for the cache!

Leave The Driving To Whom??

By: MisteryMe Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Piering Around

By: Erickson Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Third log of the day on paper. Rode the F train with the tourists and enjoyed this quiet spot around 8:30 -- just as dusk was coming into full force. It has been a really long time since I visited this particular tourist trap -- the indoor carousel has been replaced by a Hard Rock Cafe and all the storefronts seem slicker than I remembered. Easy find from the description when hardly anyone in the area.

A Pepper Picnic in the Park

By: Marky & Joani & Hotfoot Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

Planning on being there, at least for a couple hours. Wouldn't want to diverge from my original precedent for event caches and actually stay for the whole thing... [:o)]

Dolores Park & Bark

By: PisoMojado Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I've been around here before, but too many people were doing their normal weekend people-watching thing. Today I was between meetings in Berkeley and SF and for some reason I found myself in a car (rather than the MUNI) to get from one to the other. My car found its way to parking very close to the park, so why not take a few minutes to grab the cache?!? People were hanging around, but no one paying any attention outside their little groups, so this was an easy grab. Swapped TBs (Dori for an unregistered TB in the cache) and signed log. TFTC!

Going to a Giants Game Cache

By: Wild George Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

[I spent many a Saturday here this winter during Jack Wolf's softball league, and usually played on this diamond! This was a great hide by Woof!, indeed, but since it's a moving cache, I thought it was appropriate that I moved it. Besides, it gives Woof! the opportunity to place a permanent cache here if desired... The new location is easy to walk to, but difficult to retrieve. I'm rating it a 2/4. Hint:] up the tree

Dragon's Tongue

By: Rutemple Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Virtual

Couldn't find legal parking, so I couldn't get out of the car to do this virtual properly (I've had too many experiences with those 3-wheeling fiends), but I did notice the Japanese flag flying today!

Is there anyone that has found this cache previously and local to the area willing to go and verify this cache? If not, I'm planning on submitting an SBA soon, since a 2nd try (albeit still in poison oak season) came up short and the owner is incommunicado about more than one of his California caches (he's currently in Dallas, I believe) Thanks.

Iowa - A Place To Grow

By: Spothors Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Neat little park we stopped at on quick trip to Omaha from Des Moines. Thanks for showing us the park and trailhead, TNLNSL!

Lauritzen Gardens

By: The Court of HRM Queen Mikki I Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

We came by after a trip to the zoo nearby, and so the gardens were closed. Hopefully we'll make it back to see them someday -- looked like a very well-kept place! Found a couple new TBs in that I can help put some miles on, but otherwise TNLNSL, TFTC!

BADGES Dinner #4

By: BADGES Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Pretty sure I can make this one... Seems I don't have any out of state trips for that weekend (that I know of yet).

pulp fiction

We enjoyed getting off the interstate to find this little bit of history and a big amount of shade! Left Uncle Frank's TB (wants to get to Nova Scotia someday), but otherwise TNLNSL. Meant to grab the other cache around here on the way out, but it looked like rain!

"Field of Dreams"

By: Pflynn9143 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

We thought about attending an event here this evening after visiting the zoo, especially since one of Team Bucky's favorite teams was in town. Unfortunately, it looked like a rain out was in the works. Thanks for the cache, email is on its way!
