7:25pm: after checking with Kablooey, yes I had looked here before. Tonight, however, I found it quickly by flashlight. I had a slight bit of difficulty replacing it, but after about the 4th try, I figured out the right direction. TFTC!

Just a note to let the owners know that a "no hiking" sign was posted at the "entrance" to the cache area from the most obvious parking area. I may have come from some way other than the owners intended, particularly since it would not fit under the GC/CJ guidelines for a terrain 1, but it appears that the "cache" coordinates may be in an area now off-limits.

Going In CirclesBy: ibenthere Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small
Made a lunchtime visit today, since the weather was too nice to be in a cube and I was free of meetings. After carefully timing my movement around said area to avoid detection by walkers doing "laps" of some sort, I was able to see the cache and grab it. Then, after more careful timing to avoid the walkers, I was able to put it back. I can now understand why I didn't see this one during my last visit at dusk... TNLNSL, TFTC!

Last cache on a nice breezy day in Walnut Creek/Mt. Diablo area with WalruZ, unfortunately a few DNFs short of making my milestone of 500 today. Nice location for this type of cache, as the art is well worth a gander. Thanks!
SpreckelsBy: GlobeSniffer Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small
We were in the area hiking Diablo today, so WalruZ was nice enough to bring me by here for a little history lesson. The Bay Area was really a neat place (and still is) during its birth 100 or so years ago. I was wandering around and noticed where WalruZ was standing around, so I ignored the GPSr and wandered near his location to find this one. TFTC!
Blarney-A-BlazeBy: GlobeSniffer Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
We were hoping to get a bite to eat, but alas the Blarney was not a-blazing this Sunday night. Thanks for the cache!
M-A-S-H HawkeyeBy: Team Pinecone Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
5pm: This one took a bit longer than we thought it would, since WalruZ either remembered the hide wrong or it changed. So we turned to the GPSr and went to work. Found it after a methodical (is that was that was?) search. TFTC!
Idle HandsBy: Kimbo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular
Came down with WalruZ over hill and dale, but all in all it was a pleasant off-trailing experience to this cache. There was an easier way, but geez was it longer, so we went this way. Left an eagle toy for the walrus nose for walruz, and traded a few rolls of Dr. Seuss stickers for a sunflower growing pack. TFTC!
Coloring CacheBy: bltmst Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Large
3:27p: The suggested route seemed like it would be a lot more friendly, but we weren't starting from the car, so we had to improvise. It was a steep improvisation, but effective. The GPSr coverage was getting a little spotty as we got close to the area, but we were able to spot the cache before getting too confused. It was the trip back up that will come back to haunt my quads tomorrow... TFTC!
Trolls in the HeatherBy: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
4:45p: WalruZ took me around Walnut Creek after hiking in Diablo to show me what the East Bay urbans are like. This is a classic hide in a very nice park -- thanks!
Tiny ToysBy: Rundex Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Other
12:00n: Neat little area with plenty to look at just as you approach the general site of the cache. We were full of questions and speculations, which is half the fun of roaming around a place like this. Like WalruZ noted, cache was just sitting there, so we rehid within a couple feet where some natural cover could protect it. TFTC!
Fog, Log, JogBy: Jimswim Fizzymagic Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular
11:27a: I'm glad I glanced up from my GPSr, because it made the whole process go much quicker. Dang, that's bright! We had fun going through the log and noting that someone doesn't like geocaching much, but hey, the cache is still there 6 months after the empty threat, so... TNLNSL and WalruZ made the extra effort to hide it in a, erm, less obvious manner. TFTC!!
Get Your Rocks OffBy: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro
2:00p: This was the second hiking "loop" that we chose to do in Diablo today (so the first wasn't really a loop, but it felt that way) on the SW face of the Mountain. WalruZ found quickly, as I was searching the other nearby title item. Only a short break at this one, then off we went to do some more off-trailing in search of tupperware. Thanks for the cache! Edit: leave it up to a tired geocacher to not know if she was on the east or west face...

3:48pm: This walk was a little more intense than I was expecting, but not too intense that I didn't have the energy to complete it after visiting Rocky Top earlier in the day. Beautiful weather to go caching today, and I figured that I'd start the day in Marin with this one. Thanks to Johnny Vegas for proving that I wasn't going crazy finding a cammod lid without the cache! This time my GPSr led me to a different location, and I found the cache fairly quickly. TFTC!

It was a fabulous day for this hike today, with cool breeze and pleasant CA winter temperatures the whole afternoon. I parked at the TN valley parking area and hiked up the trails that were relatively sparsely populated considering it was a beautiful Saturday afternoon. My GPSr was a little off at the site, but I found the cache quickly after decrypting the hint. TN, Left a ziploc for the log, and nabbed the Bottlecap TB to continue on...

I don't know how many times I've driven by the "exit" of Hwy 1 to this cache, and just didn't make the turn. Today I was determined to grab this cache and see the hidden neighborhoods of Marin. I had a mom within viewing distance of me, but I wasn't sure if she was watching me or her kid, so I went for it. Traded a WSR card for some Dr. Seuss grinch stickers. TFTC!
(#6) Rest Stop on the HillBy: rightseatsis Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular
I returned late last night from SFO, and saw this on my nearest this morning, so I came by around 11 am to see what I could find, particularly since this was rated a difficulty=1. I was sort of in a hurry to get on to my original plans, and when I saw the area to search, and then saw the neighbors sizing me up, I finished my coffee and bailed. This many hiding spots may not rate a 1, or may require a different hint. I know that I'll be back sometime when there are less nosey neighbors in their garages and windows.

Out hiking about in Briones today with a noncaching friend that seemed to really want to figure out what I have been going on about with this "geocaching thing". After striking out during an off-trail walk to one of the Mini-sprint caches and passing by two other caches on what seemed to be the wrong trail (I really should plan these things better), we came by this one in great shape and a nice easy hide! I was pretty happy to find a nice, regular-sized cache in the park since it seemed that we were searching for micros at each other location! T: Krispy Kreme coupon, L: AC adapter. TFTC!
Mini-Sprint #1By: Rundex Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro
After a nice long loop in Briones, my friend and I seemed to be walking quite close to this one and the off-roading didn't seem too involved, so we decided to detour and give it a shot. After expanding our search radius, my noncaching buddy spotted it! Logbook was a little damp. I had a small ziploc with me and put the smaller log inside. The next person should probably plan on spending some time with the log in order to dry it out some more. TFTC!

I was picking up a noncaching friend of mine to go hiking in Briones Park. Since I was late getting to her house to pick her up, I decided that this virt would be her first introduction to geocaching on the way to the park. Thanks for a neat stop -- when I pulled in to the area, she commented that she had lived here for 10 years and never knew what it was here for. I told her she was about to find out. Thanks for the experience!

4:28p -- a great day to go hiking in Pacifica today. Beautiful clear weather and just a little moisture on the ground to make it interesting. This cache was our apex, the summit, the end of the line... It pulled us farther than the other caches would have us to go. It called to us much louder than the little voice in my head nagging me about getting back to the San Pedro parking lot by 5. It, well, it sat in its hiding spot just waiting for us (only a little exposed). BKT and I saw it pretty quickly and made our trades (T: orange egg, L: Dr. Seuss stickers), and hid it just about like how we found it. It could probably be a little more hidden than we left it, but not being sure about the original placement... Thanks for the hike -- that cache had me go much farther uphill than I would have normally!
Bane of the Cache PotatoBy: robotman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular
4:10p: We had a great hike up to this cache from San Pedro Valley park on a phenomenally-clear day (for Pacifica) and a comfortably sparse trail population to boot! This cache pulled us up the mountain even farther, despite my now-unfounded concerns with the car getting locked in the parking lot. Thanks!

12:06p: I've had the coords for the second stage for some time now, and have had to take great pains not to lose them every time I re-do my waypoints in my GPSr!! Today was the day that I actually had some unplanned time and some great weather -- an excellent combination to finish this cache. The views were spectacularly clear, and I sat for a while at the cachesite thinking about how many times since I was a little kid peering out a car window I thought of coming up to this spot to see what was there. Now I did, and found a cache. TN, Left the Travel Monkey TB (photo to be uploaded later), SL. Thanks for the experience!

2:21p -- Neat little park! I would love to live in this neighborhood, today it was sunny and the people around were very friendly. Plus, I had the benefit of doing this cache with a member of the steering committee with her name right there on one of the plaques. I was so humbled and honored! We did a nice walk-through to find all the answers, and were surprised at how easy it was to spot the hide at the end, so we did a little better with our cover on the way out. I think I TNLNSL, although there were some interesting little trinkets in the cache!

I enjoyed having this one just off a street I use as a shortcut "from here to there" quite a bit. TN, left a pen to replace the one inside that didn't work, a ziploc for the logbook to keep it safe, and a NIDA 2004 Neuroscience magnet. Thanks!
Day St ParkBy: rightseatsis Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
Came by after the other caches in the series -- knew the park pretty well as a friend of mine lives across the street (although in the other direction). Found the hinted area/items, found a baseball, found a batting practice softball, but no cache. There were a lot of people around this morning, and without a kid on the hunt, it just didn't look right for me to hang around much longer. Maybe I'll try back during the more "dangerous" hours where I can blend in better...
Top, Middle, Bottom?By: rightseatsis Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small
10:21a: chose the hard way up so that I could be rewarded with views as I walked down. The weather was quite cooperative in that respect. Enjoyed the placement and the impromptu sitting areas nearby. TN, Left a ziploc for the log and a stubby pencil to write with. TFTC!

Long Distance CallBy: Woof! and Jamie Z Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular
Oh, I had my DNF note all written up -- I just couldn't figure out how many unsuccessful phone calls over how long of a period would warrant a DNF on this particular cache... I had to do this one. Right away. Woof! basically ensured it by taunting me with her choice of puzzle coords. Unfortunately, I only had 41 daytime minutes on my cell phone to last me the rest of the week when it was placed. Not wanting to risk getting my phone habits audited at work, and because it was way too late in CST to call when my free night/weekend minutes kick in, I had to be smart about this one.
I figured that those Tennesseeans would go get libations on Friday after work hours (although I did make one call yesterday). I made many phone calls over the course of more than a few hours from about 11 am to 4pm, PST, with no luck getting anyone to answer the phone. I got a busy tone a few times. I heard both the "hello" and "thank you" version of the disconnect. I also got to the point where it would ring once, then disconnect after three tones and no voice at all. Luckily ea ch call only set me back one minute of cell phone time. I began to think that perhaps phone-answering sociology/psychology is a bit different at a University versus outside a Liquor store. I began to feel that life was unfair and the sister cache was probably easier. I began to envision a grant p roposal to study the difference in phone answering behavior outside Universities and LIquor stores.
Finally, as I was crafting my DNF and getting ready to go to my favorite wireless cafe to send it, a voice -- male!!! -- answered. That was new. So I stuttered "Hello" about 3 times before regaining some composure. The phone call was brief, and the guy on the other line had a sense of bewilderment in his voice that he could actually help me. Working out my trust issues with the human race, I got in the car and drove to the coords that were relayed from my anonymous aide, and came up with the cache. TNLNSL.
PS - don't bother calling my cell phone until after 9pm PST, I only have 3 minutes left...

[STF, 9:00a -- this was a great park to take a morning walk through before work. The weather was clear and crisp, and the park has been well-designed and is free of the litter I see in so many city parks. The garden is well worth a stop, just to see what efforts are being undertaken to make this a real SF community. Coords were great, as was the placement. ] I wouldn't have seen the western view otherwise. [I wish I had my TB with me this morning, because this cache was worth leaving it. Instead I left a NEI pin, which was my second favorite item I obtained at a recent Neuroscience conference (the first was cool cache-sized pens). Thanks Woof! for a great placement in a neat SF park.]
Shields Orizaba Rocky OutcropBy: Woof! Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small
FTF, 9:25pm. Not having DSL working at my house, I saw this new cache at the top of my nearest page when I got to work this morning, but I knew I'd be working pretty late. When it was still not found as I packed up to leave, my obsession got the better of me... Heck, it was sorta almost kinda on the way home, even. So, I bent my own rule (really more of a guideline) to not hunt at night (and go to Ingelside at night). The trip was relatively uneventful for a night in Ingleside -- I only had to evade one guy staggering around with a 40 and quietly wait for the neighbor's dog to get tired of sounding the alarm. I was rewarded with a place I'm sure to come back to during the day. The night views were neat, with lights lining the various hills around the area, and the "park" is like a little slice of what the SF hillsides were probably like a few hundred years ago! Thanks, Woof!, for bringing me to an area I usually don't venture into -- TNLNSL. I should also add the disclaimer that my views/perceptions of Ingleside are probably about 20 years out of date...
Peace Point FourBy: Bric Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Small
The first part of the hike, getting to the summit, was a nice workout for the body. The second part of the hike, getting to the cache, was a "nice" workout for the brain. The road was tempting, and Woof! was its strong advocate on our second try at following the fenceline, but Bloo and I just weren't into a buckshot-in-the-behind experience. Besides, it would take the wh-ambulance a long time to get to us if that Guard Llama (and goat) charged us as we tried to slip by. Really, llamas are mean little buggers. So bac k down into the fern-ed slalom course we went... Then came The Phone Call (insert shining, Python-esque light and music here -- well the music should probably be a waltz because that was the unexpected ring on Woof!'s cell phone). It stopped our descent into the Canyon Of Hell (and Ferns) and allowed us to see the "trail" back to the fenceline. By that time we were well past the house belonging to the llama (and goat), but had disturbed more than our fair share of forest life, and very happy to see the sun (and the fence). Over hill and over dale, and the cache was eventually ours!! I took a photo of Kablooey and Woof! on the cache camera and a dollar, and left a Muir Woods keyring/changeholder. I also unintentionally helped along the disintegration of the cache lid... Sorry. The cache is nowhere near water-tight now.

Martha's GroveBy: Erickson Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
Neat little grove! I was game for continuing on and exploring more of the park, but the trail was nowhere to be found. After stepping on more than our fair share of ferns eariler at Peace Point 4, we just didn't have it in us. Thanks for one close to the road!
The Brown BridgeBy: walkingstickman Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular
Since I was the only one that brought the cache description with me, I was reading it when they found it and trying to figure out how to scale the side of the hill. I don't understand the 2.5 rating, but hey, it isn't my cache. I forgot my sweatshirt, however, and was freezing while Bloo and Woof! were poring over the secret codes at the back of the log. TNLNSL, thanks.
Creek Park CacheBy: forman Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
Neat little hide, I guess I'm just simpler than Bloo, even when faced with a forman cache... We ended up having a great laugh about all the walking patterns of nearby people as we were trying to put the cache back. They seem to emerge into eyesight from everywhere!! TFTC.
Harold and MaudeBy: Maddy Kent Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular
You know you're getting too cache-obsessed when you figure you can just run out to a cache and back before your softball doubleheader start time in The City... Oh well, that's what I did and the weather was spectacular today -- I would have loved to spend some more time at the cache site. Surprisingly, there weren't many people around this morning, although I did pass the starseekers2 (yeah -- I know that was a Legend peeking out of your hand...) on their way out as I was on my way in. Followed the arrow right to it, signed the back of a log page, didn't see the TB in the cache, and traded a domino tile for a hackey sack that looks like a basketball. TFTC!

I wish the weather would have cooperated more today for this one, but I really enjoyed the lunchtime stroll after being excused from Jury Duty service in record time... I have just recently learned how to use the "project waypoint" feature on my GPSr and it came in quite handy for this cache!! The bush is a bit shorter than describe d, but all else was as advertised. I put the contents in their own new ziploc, since the inside of the cache was damp and the lid seemed to have popped off in its hiding place. Took the Spidertracks token #228 to move on, and left the Junque Jewelry TB. TFTC!
