Star Whirs

By: cyan_blue Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Made the grab with WalruZ after work. Now I'm really psyched to watch all 6 in their chronological order at once! TFTC.

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #30

By: joespaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Took a long walk with WalruZ around the Niles park and into Quarry Lakes today. I really liked this hide, hope the fishermen didn't catch on! TFTC.

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #29

By: joespaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

That took some looking, but I should have spotted it quicker since it was partially uncovered when I found it. Covered it all the way when I was done. I had a hard time getting a reading around here, with very little in the area to account for bad signal. Oh well. Looked in logical HBJS hiding spots and found it.

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #28

By: joespaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I wandered around a bit and couldn't see anyplace a normal HBJS cache would be, so I read the hint, then I went to WalruZ patiently waiting in the car to find out what the hint meant, and then found the cache the first place I stuck my fingers... Thanks!

Golden Spike

By: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I pulled off the "geo-wedding of the year", so I took the groom out for a day of caching with the wife. This was the first stop of the afternoon (we're just not caching very early anymore, for some reason). Thanks.

CITO Cache - Fremont #3

By: Fremont Area Meet Eat Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Wow, needle in a haystack sorta, only this is a big needle! I had some trouble finding it, although I looked at least twice where it ended up being. TNLNSL, thanks!

Lake View

By: Lil Devil Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

There weren't too many people out and about around here today, so retrieving and replacing was quick. I enjoyed the view here, although no fishermen were taking advantage of the provided bobber... Been holding onto a TB that I seem to have really become attached to, and was finally able to part with it here. Thanks for a nice walk out to the lake.

SciFi kids

By: Claire (maintained by WalruZ) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I was just about to give up on this one, when WalruZ suggested that I go with my first instinct, and there it was. Its good to have him around to temper my impatience sometimes... Thanks!

F.A.M.E. Event - April 2005

By: F.A.M.E. Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

It was nice to see everyone again, and to meet all the new cachers that came. Sorry to have missed Bloo by a half hour or so. Thanks Joe for a nice event -- man was I hungry when we got there!

Quarry Lakes Rocks

By: Blanston12 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Took a nice long walk with WalruZ from the Niles Community Park to Quarry Lakes and after a bit of navigating, found the cache quickly. Thanks for the new one in the area -- Nice park! Someday I'll have to license up and come fishing...

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #32

By: joespaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Out and about today, this one was in plain view, so I covered it a little better. TFTC.

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #31

By: joespaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was here yesterday, but couldn't look at the required area due to the after-school activities occurring very very nearby. Today I returned to the area to find the cache in a logical place. Both days the coords seemed to be about 80 feet off. TFTC.

BRIDGE TO SCHOOL

By: CALHUNTER Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Working off the waypoint alone, so I fell hard for the nearby decoy search area. Finally decided to listen to my GPSr and found the cache! Always a pleasure to do a calhunter cache in Fremont, and I got twice the pleasure today! Left a TB. TFTC.

McPark Ride

By: CALHUNTER Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Ah, yes, falling for another decoy search area cost me a little time, but I found the cache as soon as I gave up there. Thanks!

Palm Overcross

By: CALHUNTER Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Quick find as the rain started this afternoon. Thanks!

YOU ?VE GOT MAIL

By: CALHUNTER Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

sombody was planted right where I wanted to look, and it seemed that he had less better things to do that I did, so I'll have to return for this one.

Mission M M cache

By: Marky Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I'm not sure how I ended up inside convent grounds... The place I wanted to search wasn't accessible to me from there, so I'll have to try again later.

Counterclockwise

By: Neslake Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Yeah, well I drove right by the site yesterday, too, but didn't stop because I knew that WalruZ would want to find it after he was done with what he was doing... That'll teach me. I still can't quite figure out how our coords were 100 feet away from the cache site, but this morning I also widened my search area to find it. Swapped TBs, TFTC.

GOMES' JUNIPERS

By: CALHUNTER Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Nice little cache in a pleasant park, Thx!

Beyond the Picnic

By: bthomas Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

We thought it might be nice to get out of the house for a bit, so WalruZ accompanied me to this cache before taking a nice, long walk around the lake. Thanks!

Apr 20, 2005

The Station 2 Cache

By: GeoStriker Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Was in the area with WalruZ today, so we thought we'd stop and grab one. There were a few people enjoying the swings, but they didn't seem to pay much attention to us. TFTC!

BADGES Picnic #2

By: BADGES Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

Just confirming WalruZ' log that 3 of us will attend. We're all "M" now, so I'll plan on bringing something for the grill.

Bunny Cache II

By: Just a Short Walk Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

What a great spot!! WalruZ and I could hear the crashing waves and pounding surf on this sunny but slightly breezy afternoon. I thought I might have heard some wildlife in the bushes, but we didn't see any bunnies out in the open. Nevertheless, it was one of my favorite cache experiences to date. TFTC!

MUSICAL CROSS

By: C MMorris Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I really enjoyed the walk to this cache, and the secret trailhead that we used to get there. This is a really nice spot with some interesting history and a really nice view of the Carmel River mouth. Thanks for bringing us here.

Carmel Coast Cache

By: Pinky B Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Good thing WalruZ had me along today... Found relatively quickly once he stopped hogging the prime searching space. He relegated himself to snapping photos of this spectacular area as I fiddled with the cache. The wildflowers are blooming all over the bluff area, and the weather was comfortably sunny and breezy. Thanks for the stop on our South-of-Carmel walk!

She Saw Seashells By the Seashore

By: Pinky B Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This find was all WalruZ -- I was still wandering around trying to figure out if I should be looking for something or not. After the nice walk over the bluffs, I was actually concentrating more on the beautiful day it had turned into, and the amazing power of the ocean surf that we were approaching on our way to get this cache. Thanks for taking us all the way down to the beach!

Carmel River Cache

By: camnpete Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The roped off area deterred me, but not WalruZ, who found the cache and signed the log. I've always liked this area -- definitely underused, or at least never full of tourists.

Goose Chase

By: Pinky B Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

First cache as married folk for WalruZ and I, on day 1 of our honeymoon. We trekked around a little before finding the cache in a logical place. I, too, was a bit hesitant about the private property sign, but I also had no idea that permission had been granted. The poison oak can be avoided in the search for the cache, although you have to get pretty close to what looks like a recent sprouting of the stuff to retrieve it. No geese today, but thanks for bringing me into this little area south of Carmel!

Ulistac

By: Mhop (adopted by bullit) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This was my last cache of a not-too-successful caching afternoon, and I was glad to see a familiar (from the Bay Area Multiple Hills series) mhop cache container. Thanks for the walk in this nice park. Left a TB.

Want fries with that?

By: Somethings Fishy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Woo Hoo, I'm claiming a co-FTNF with WalruZ! We looked for a while on two separate occasions (before and after this became an expensive cache run), and we're sure that there are more DNFs that haven't been logged yet -- we wish people who don't find caches would log their DNFs in a timely manner so cachers wouldn't drive around looking for caches that can't be found [:p]...

Ulistac Nature Preserve

By: mickeychopchop and bullit Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Nice to find something big today. Didn't see the J.Jewelry TB, but I left one for the next person to grab.

Big Lady

By: nostrada (adopted by workerofwood) Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I really enjoyed my visit to the area -- the faithful have brought a bevy of flowers to the statue to honor the Pope after his recent passing. It was quite calming, which is good because I had not been having a good caching day thus far. TFTC!

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #27

By: joespaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I had a little trouble with this one, as WalruZ attempted to mislead me initially, but persistence and his help actually paid off on this one! Thanks for the cache -- I even completed my WSR birthday set tonight (now if I can only find where I put them all)!

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #26

By: joespaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Tougher than usual hide -- but I managed to come up with it, making this cache the last of the day. TFTC!

Bay Area Multiple Hills - Bonus

By: Mhop Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Okay, so it took something like 3 months after burning through 1-4 in a weekend... It felt really nice to find this cache and enjoy the blustery but sunny San Bruno Mtn weather. The air was crisp and clear, the butterflies were out, the wildflowers were blooming, the views were great, and this trail always makes for a nice walk. All the nicer, since this cache was sitting atop my nearest list for the longest time! Wonder what will be there now? TFTC.

SuperGenius #20-More Niles Canyon

By: Shane Pepper (Maintained by Marky Joani) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Nice little picnic area -- thanks for placing a cache here!

The Tortoise and the Fare

By: Cyan_Blue, ArnoldMHS, and Emmett_the_Sane Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Ah, 3 sundaes later, I found it on a Sunday. Brought the WalruZ and LeChuck this time to enjoy the nearby fare and provide the necessary cover for the hunt. Thanks for the puzzle.

San Bruno Free Way

By: GoToStJoseph Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

Its always nice to have a "tribute cache" in one's honor, and the polite thing for me to have done would have been to rush out and grab the FTF on it. Alas, I've been unable to hike for about 6 weeks now, and today was the first foray back into the world of non-urban urban geocaching. What a test! WalruZ, LeChuck, and I started out thinking that we'd have a nice climb to the first stage, and then enjoy a leisurely stroll to the second. Not. We climbed the first stage, then walked north awhile towards the ridge thinking that there'd be an easy way over to the final. After I started realizing I wasn't up for such a hike over the ridge, we took a vote about going back the way we came and losing all that hard-fought elevation. WalruZ lost, since LeChuck had already been grousing about what he saw in front of us before I got winded, and off we went. The hike over was really quite nice, although I don't think it was the smartest thing to sit down in the tall green grass to eat our powerbar lunches. LeChuck was jeeved out about ticks the whole ride home after he caught a few of them doing a waltz on his nice white shirt and I managed to squash one taking a ride in my hair. Undeterred, however, we tromped past the midget indian village (I guess you had'ta be there) and up to the cache site. It took quite some time to locate the cache, mainly because we were shying away from the groves of new poison oak, but WalruZ finally braved the itch and made the grab. His forearm is itching as I write this... Thanks for my first hike in a while. I thought I'd be able to go on and hit Monster Mountain today, but I it was the last of today's real elevation changes for me, so another day perhaps. Left a TB, TFTC!

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #25

By: joespaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Nice to turn this DNF around. Thanks for replacing!

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #24

By: joespaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Walked around in circles (or squares) for a little bit, but came up with the cache. Thanks!

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #16

By: joespaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Man, I'm never gonna find one of the "birthday" WSR cards, am I? Thanks for the smiley!

Lake Elizabeth Outlook

By: Beckerbuns Boys Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

[:D] #900 for me. and a nice stroll out to the dock. Thanks for the milestone, and thanks to WalruZ who was home slaving away and stopped his chores to take the photo!

Plaza Park

By: TeamSpaz Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Yay -- found it right away on my second try. Must be the coord change, methinks... Coords were right on this time, and I was certainly in a different area than before. Thanks for updating them!

Chadbourne Carriage House

By: TeamSpaz Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Had some extra time after doing some chores today, so I went out to get some of the nearest. I wish I had brought my bag of TBs with me -- I didn't expect to do anything more than micros today, though... Thanks for re-placing the cache! No homeless today, so the cache was a quick grab!

Gateway To Heaven

By: NavySparks Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I don't get it, but I got it. Thanks.

Going In Circles

By: NavySparks Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I didnt' have previous logs, and I had searched the location that it was obviously intended to be in (based on the cache container), so when I finally found it a bit into the "garden" I replaced it as it was likely intended. Thanks.

Brittan Park

By: NavySparksandtheMrs Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I've never enjoyed ivy very much, and when the other nearby plant drew blood, I decided I was outta there.

Along the De Anza Trail 2 - CHP

By: Marky Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Same two slugs there today, methinks. Quick grab after enjoying some beverage from the nearby multipurpose store. TFTC!

Patricia Wharton Park

By: Billspursuit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Neat hide. Because of the dog walkers around, I stayed in the car and surveyed the area, which allowed me enough time and objectivity to figure out my search items (and enjoy two songs on the radio). Luckily that time was well-spent, and I found the cache quickly. Thanks!

City on the Hill

By: PisoMojado Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

3pm. I was so surprised to find that I was FTF on this one. Heck, its on the way to work for at least a few people I know, and I haven't been in the city the last couple of days... Anyhow, I saw what I thought was a geo-trail, so I pretty much figured I'd be happy with a smiley. Instead, I got that rush that FTF brings! [:D] TB in, minibook out. Thanks!

Cherry, Cherry pie. ohooo oohh oohhhh

By: bodster Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Met WalruZ here for dinner after a long and only semi-successful afternoon of caching. Thanks for the nice stop, and the pie!

Jetty

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I was running around the area this afternoon, and noticed that this cache was in an area I had previously "cleaned". After picking up some great Chicago style pizza slices in Foster City, I was off to have dinner at the Jetty. Nice calm artsy (sorta) area for a caching dinner break, and found the cache to boot! Thanks!

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #21

By: joespaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Needed the WalruZ to help out with this one, although I've never really thought of myself as vertically challenged before...

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #20

By: joespaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

In the area picking up a few caches here and there. And here this one was...

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #19

By: joespaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

And another birthday cache discovered... Thanks!

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #17

By: joespaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Well, it wasn't the most scenic area of the day, but it was an interesting way to get to the park... TFTC.

Halfway House

By: WhipArtist Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Just as WalruZ and I were strolling up to the cache site, a really long garter snake startled me by slithering across my path. I didn't even see it coming by... Anyhow, I followed it to the cache site, and was relieved when it found its way to its home -- where the cache was not. Thanks!

Waiting for School

By: wildlifeguy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was a good day and time to be out doing this cache, thanks for showing me the area!

How fair

By: squints Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Found one (1) cache right where it seemed it should be. Then WalruZ and I went for a stroll along the levee. Thanks!

1.23 miles

By: F.A.M.E. Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Quick find on my way from here to there. This one was here, rather than there, which made locating it pretty easy. TNLNSL. Thanks!

Bay Area Backroads, the Puzzle

By: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

WalruZ and I pretty much figured out what was needed to solve this one when it came out, but most of our resources are currently being spent elsewhere. We enjoyed our visit to the site immensely. Thanks for the cache.

Dinner and a Movie

By: Fremont Claassens Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Well, I know we weren't even close to first on the logsheet, but I'm claiming FTL online. Thanks for the new one!

Children at Play #2

By: TeamSpaz Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I woulda missed those if it hadn't been for WalruZ' GPSr pointing right at 'em. Thanks!

A Kick in the Shinn

By: Blanston12 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

What a neat area! And it smells nice too. I had the benefit of not trying this one first off, so the coords were all good for me. Thanks!
