Ice Blocking

By: JimmiGee Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Ice blocking was still alive and well in the mid-80's for high school kids with nothing to do on a weekend night. In Sunnyvale, if you wanted a real adrenaline rush, you'd go to the Community Center and block down their hills, which also included a run from the "Public Safety" officers that were stationed nearby (if they were awake enough to notice you). I've got some photos of ice blocking that were taken back then, but I think they'd just be too incriminating to my now-upstanding-citizens-with-kids friends from high school to post! This looks like a really good park for the "sport", ah if only I were younger and not so upstanding these days!

Ardenwood: Rows of Nuts

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Headed out with the WalruZ and Geo Baby to see the pumpkins, and since we've got a EBP pass (thanks Bloo and Woof!), we took a little walk to get this one cache off my nearest. It was a great day for a walk around Ardenwood; not too cold and not too hot. Thanks for getting us out and about!

Bart: Hayward Station

By: Blanston12 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

We were out driving around after an outing at Ardenwood, trying to decide what to do during a lull in the Geo Baby's dining schedule and found ourselves up this way somehow. Is there a better reason to stop for a cache or two? Probably not. Thanks for the series.

Bart: Union City Station

By: Blanston12 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Quick find on the way home. A very young couple was sitting nearby the cache site, but I used the cachemobile as cover. TFTC!

Marina Park - Northern Micro

By: TeamSpaz Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

Had a small run-in with some sap while searching for this one, but I borrowed a baby wipe from Geo Baby to remedy that when I got back to the car. Neat hide. TFTC!

CITO Cache - San Leandro

By: Fremont Area Meet Eat Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Geo Baby and I came out for an afternoon at the Marina with WalruZ. We were there after mjp303, and the cache was still sitting out in the open. I also hid it in the weeds a little better, but I think it is being discovered on a regular basis. Things seemed a little damp in there, but at least there was still a log to sign...

North of Marina Park - Northern Micro

By: 4wheeler Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was pretty sure I was on the right track and the cache wasn't there, but WalruZ started directing me from the car across the road anyway. Turns out, after a call to the owner, it wasn't there... Go figure. We were going to do the nearby multi, but some young men were smoking something in their car nearby, so to the southern caches we went.

South of Marina Park - Southern Micro

By: 4wheeler Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Finally got the stroller out and went for a much-needed walk with the family. Thanks for the cache!

Walk of the Bay

By: kemosabe Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

WalruZ, Geo Baby, and I went for what is easily the longest walk I've been on since Geo Baby was in the 2nd trimester of gestation. It felt good. It was also the maiden voyage of the infant stroller, which also went well. Cache was right where it should be, and the view was calming this evening. TFTC.

No Good Reason #3

By: clu5150 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

WalruZ, Geo Baby, and I had no luck with this one. Zero'd out pretty far from the obvious search item, but there was nothing else around there that could handle a 4" square box. After some time searching, Geo Baby got cranky and I had to abandon the search to attend to her. WalruZ persisted during this time, but didn't come up with it.

No Good Reason #1

By: clu5150 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

WalruZ, Geo Baby, and I stopped by here on the way to the Marina. Business was open, but didn't seem too busy. TFTC.

Stay A-Weigh

By: iconDaddy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Came by with WalruZ and Geo Baby, but some young men were smoking something in their car right in front of stage 1. There was no way that they were occupied enough to not notice us, and we were right in their line of vision, so we decided to leave it for another day.

Tribble on Vicksburg

By: cyan_blue Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Thanks for the new SF cache. We were in the City for Geo Baby's first doctor appointment, so planned our exit via Noe Valley. Took the Meno Nemo TB to send out yonder...

BADGES Breakfast #1

By: BADGES Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

Assuming we can get everyone up and out by 9am (which is not trivial these days), it looks like we can make it.

Rexy's Book Club

By: raptor rex Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The whole family stopped by on the way from picking up LeChuck and heading home to Fremont. It was reasonably late, and LeChuck hadn't eaten, so we ended up getting off the freeway near this cache for a *nutritious* McMeal. I used to be an avid reader, for pleasure, but grad school changed all that. I try to sneak in a book for fun every so often, but my sample size to choose a recommendation from is pretty small. Lately, I've enjoyed reading So that's what they're for: Breastfeeding basics.

Bridgepoint Haiku 5-7-5

By: sammer Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Baby's first time out One week old and geocaching Nice introductory find.

Bart: Fremont Station

By: Blanston12 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Got out of the house with Geo Baby today, and this one was just too close to pass by. TFTC.

Electric Lizard

By: oneangrypuppy and frivlas Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Totally forgot to log my finds from the 13th... Wonder why? As WalruZ said, my search capability was as limited as it was gonna get, so he came up with this one while I provided cover.

LaQuinta Nano Cache 5

By: thBriGuy (hosted by local cacher Walruz) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Well, I sorta did feel like a tax collector, but it seems like a pretty steep rate since you didn't have a chance to hit any of mine while in the area and I got a whole slew of yours doing the Pushawalla trail (and another LaQuinta nano too)... Oh well, TFTC!

Koshland, B'gosh!

By: GoToStJoseph Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

They've really done some work to make this neighborhood more respectable-looking. The new Octavia corridor is quite impressive (or at least clean), although I'll never understand exactly why you can't turn onto the freeway from the City's major artery, and why you're forced to turn if you happen to be in the wrong lane on Oak... Oh well. WalruZ and I hit this one after one of my many medical appointments at the Northern end of the City shoved in between work in the East part of the City. The park was very nice, although a bit uphill for my tastes right now, but I managed to waddle on up the stairs eventually. The garden was quite impressive and we even made the acquaintance of a tomato-loving spider that was easily the size of my thumb! TFTC.

Bev-Mo Park

By: nlrw Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Hit this cache after work on the drive home with WalruZ. The patrons of BevMo (the building, not the park) were deep in their after-work conversation, so searching wasn't a problem. I was misled by the posted coords, and having no cache info myself, was searching the wrong area. Luckily, WalruZ was better prepared and was searching with his feet on the path. TFTC.

Crystal Springs Dam

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Nice little area, I dropped off a TB that I've been hanging onto far too long. TFTC!

I met him in a swamp down in Dagobah...

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Got the coords from Yoda after a doctor's appointment a little over a week ago, but couldn't quite make it to the final from there. Today was the day to grab the final (after yet another medical appointment), so grab it I did. I spotted it quickly, so covered it a little better when I left. TFTC.

Back To Crystal Springs

By: NavySparksandtheMrs Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Was with WalruZ on the after-work expedition today. TFTC.
