Ahhhh, just one more on the way home... Isn't that always the case! Geo Baby dropped a YJTB, and we nabbed the Surfing Donald TB to make room for it. Nice hide, thanks!
City Stairways: DwightBy: rosmo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
First time seeing these stairways, and I've roamed around this area a little bit before! I was surprised that it was still unfound after a full workday, but glad for Geo Baby that it was. I thought the view in the waning light was spectacular, as I'm sure it is during the daytime. I'm logging this cache as the Coin Quest requirement for "cache with a view". thanks!

On another marathon of medical appointments in this part of the City, so I thought I'd mosey on by and see how the other .5% lives... Quick find for me just as the rains decided to stop. Thanks!

Guess I overlooked it. I'm sure the guys working construction next door wondered what I was so interested in that gate for... They were nice enough not to ask.
Java BeachBy: image415 and joescales Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro
Couldn't come up with this one this afternoon, although the sub at Java Beach made for a nice lunch and the coffee there is great. Lots of *interesting* guys roaming up and down the streets even in the early afternoon. I had Geo Baby with me, so I was a little too encumbered to do a thorough search, but at least I had good cover to linger in the area as long as I did. Given the amount and type of human traffic in this area, I hope it's just cammoed really well and that's why I couldn't find it!
Secret Treehouse #1By: DavidT21 Fisherwoman Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
Out for a Sunday drive with the family, satisfying Coin Quest caches here and there for the various members. I was happy to find this cache with the matching longitude decimal digits so close to home! I thought that getting this Coin Quest requirement (#5) would be harder, but I guess I lucked out! TFTC.

Thanks for the afternoon quest with the family. We're working on the Coin Quest requirements and this one seemed perfect for satisfying the dog-themed cache (#16). Thanks!

This took some doing, but we finally found it! Not too terribly busy today, but it was late afternoon on the Sunday of a holiday weekend, so no soccer games to contend with. Thanks for showing us this nice park. I dropped TBJE3N, Spongebob as part of a Coin Quest requrement (#14) to move a travel bug.
Girl Power CacheBy: geocruz with Geoflower Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular
On the way back from Thanksgiving holiday festivities, and thought this would be a good cache to hit. We arrived just before dusk, which was a good thing because no one is supposed to be in the park after then. We took turns searching and holding Geo Baby, and WalruZ finally came up with it. I think his GPSr is just better than mine at getting to the right zero. This cache satisfies the coin quest requirement for A Cache for Little Girl.
Alan's StatuesBy: bobznotyeruncle Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular
We brought the family out to see the statues and find the cache on the way to Thanksgiving dinner in Monterey -- what a hidden treasure close to home yet completely unknown to most people in the area! We've been doing the Coin Quest and searching a little harder for particular types of caches, which really has expanded our caching experience. Thanks so much for showing us this area!
IlluminatiBy: Touchstone Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular
Not a single reflector to be seen tonight from Brer Rabbit's lair... Of course, we only had waypoints, a headlamp, three flashlights, and the memory of the two cache pages that we read before starting our post-Turkey-dinner journey. We'll have to do more research and try again some other night. Edit: {cough}{choke}{chortle} Ahem, well, I guess I did find it and I signed the log and all, and then went crashing through the forest looking for it. Gee, I wonder why we didn't see a reflector from there... {Doh} So, I thought I'd go ahead and add the log from my pseudo-find of DTRH here:
I had actually wanted to go with the group last week to do these caches {which now seems like it would have been a better choice than crashing through Huckleberry Hill *two* weeks in a row}, but not only do I not have the go-ahead from the doctor to do terrain like this, I also had never left Geo Baby with a non-parent. So I decided to make some preparations for both of those issues and wait the week and a half to the holiday weekend. It was great weather for this tonight, not too cold and not too hot, with just a touch of fog to make it a little spooky. I've done a night cache before, so we wer e reasonably prepared for the hike, but somehow had zapped the Palm with our normal caching information earlier in the day {which apparently wouldn't have helped us in the comedy of errors that occurred}. That meant that we could only write down scraps of information from looking at the webpage befo re we left, and go on waypoints in the GPSr (and my knowledge of the park itself from several previous --daytime-- hiking trips here). We lost the tacks a few times, but nothing too upsetting {phhhhht, giggle, snort}. We saw a pair of eyes at about raccoon or possum-level staring at us at one point. We made our way up and down the path, and came upon the cache. It wasn't more terrain than I could handle, but then came the search for Illuminati {insert snicker from future here}...
Thanks for the nighttime walk in the woods. I'm going to submit my find as satisfying the "forest" requirement for the Coin Quest. Thanks a bunch!
To the Bat Cave!By: Chickasaw, Spyder Woman Lorena (Kea's Hui) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small
We've been seeking caches specific to satisfying the Coin Quest as a family, and so this one seemed like it would be a fun one to do with the little one (~6 weeks old) in tow, particularly since it was sorta "on the way" to dinner in Monterey and parking at UCSC on T-day is the best its gonna get. Nevermind that we hadn't really tried to do any sort of Terrain using the front pack before, and I haven't done any terrain since I was 5 months along with Geo Baby. It went alright, though, with WalruZ only almost falling on Geo Baby once and both of us passing the front pack with Geo Baby in it back and forth as we tested the limits of our Thanksgiving Day footwear. Although I got a fair shot at the cache, WalruZ came up with the find on his turn to toss the area... I guess I'm not as recovered as I think I am, at least balance-wise. Still, a really fun outing and I feel like I can start doing a little more terrain to get the lungs back with the program!
Down the Rabbit HoleBy: The Architect Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular
Edit: Oooops. I need to pay more attention to those tacks and what's written in the log!! Not only did not find this cache, but I thought I found it when I had really followed tacks to the other one (don't ask me how that happened, I really don't know). So, this logging thing gets more confusing when the coin quest requirements get factored in... {sigh}

Vallejo MillBy: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
This wasn't the first time I was by, but that time I had Geo Baby in the front pack which greatly hindered the searching process. Came by today on my way out to Pleasanton, again with Geo Baby, although not in the front pack this time. A small group of muggles was nearby playing football or frisbee or something, and was very interested in what I was doing wandering around. They eventually left while I was pacing from potential hiding object to potential hiding object, muttering to myself and sometimes to Geo Baby. I ended up needing significant help (I almost hate to log this as a find with as much coaching as I needed). Turns out my GPSr was reading 158' at the cache site. No way I was going to find *that* on my own without a lifeline call...
Guadalupe River: Port of AlvisoBy: bullit Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
FTF at 8:20pm. I usually don't run off, leaving food in the oven and a hungry baby, but I rarely have the opportunity for a FTF these days. With the whole Coin Quest thing, I thought I should try for one while I could. I sure would post more quickly if I had a SideKick-type device, but alas I don't (the majority of cachers don't, really), so I have to wait until I can get home and get a connection like most non-techy people. I think 2 hours to post isn't all that bad, really, if one has been caching most of the day...
It ?s a Graveyard CacheBy: Cap'n Jack Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
I initially came at this one from one direction, then looked around at the area (which was pretty neat) and decided that another direction would be a more efficient way. This idea was encouraged when I read the previous logs. I was probably wrong, and should have stayed at it with my first instinct. Anyway, Geo Baby was crying and needed attention during the search, but we eventually found the cache. Thanks, this will satisfy the cemetary cache requirement for the coin quest!

Well, it looks like we missed bullit by 10 minutes, according to the paper log. I have no idea why he would log it online as a day earlier. Perhaps just to make us feel really silly for getting Geo Baby out in her pjs for this one. Oh well, I'd have gotten this one soon anyway, since it's so close to home... Thanks for the cache!

Had to run up to work for a bit in the City today, so I had time for just one cache. Since I had "cleaned" this area just before this cache was placed, it seemed like a good idea to come back by and "finish the job". Geo Baby was awake for most of this one, and actually enjoyed her front-pack ride out and back. Found the cache relatively quickly, and took three of the 4 TBs inside, because the plush TBs weren't doing so well in there. It was a bit damp. I'm hoping that's just leftover from the initial placement. Anyhow, I took them home to dry out, and WalruZ will place them somewhere soon (I'm not doing many regular sized caches these days). TFTC!

More Power To Ya!By: ac! Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
You weren't kidding about the signal issues! At one point, I read 20 feet while I was still on the street approaching the park... I was in for a nice walk with Geo Baby in the park, so I went ahead and parked and got out the stroller, and wouldn't ya know the GPSr jumped to 400 ft, which seemed more appropriate for the area. When I went to get the cache, there was no one in the park, but when I was ready to put it back you'da think they let out the muggle floodgates or something... I pretended to adjust Geo Baby's pacifier for an inordinate amount of time, then slipped it back in during a break in passers-by. TFTC.

I got lucky on parking with my first try at approaching this cache. It was all very stroller-friendly, which is important these days, and I was wholeheartedly amazed that the cache has lasted so long where it is given its size. I even did some trades, which I've gotten really lazy about these days. In: a ruler-stencil, set of votive candle holders, geocaching magnet. Out: pocketknife. Thanks! Edited to include that I am using this find to log a requirement for the coin quest.

On my first outing sans Geo Baby today, as WalruZ was kind enough to give me a few hours so that I could do some higher Terrain caches close to home. Neat little area, although it took some time before I realized exactly what I was looking at! I read Nazgul's log before coming out, so I took a particular strategy to finding the cache which netted the find quickly. I replaced a bit more out of sight in the same location. TNLNSL, thanks!

I have long known what Fisherwoman's favorite foliage is (although I happen to not be a fan of it, myself), so all this talk of it in the logs had me searching in the wrong place. Took a nice walk by the levee with Geo Baby in the front pack. Man, is she getting heavy! Negotiating the final feet of the cache was a challenge with bowling-ball heft attached to the front of me, particularly since I couldn't see where I was stepping, but we managed. She was remarkably patient with me while I tipped her back during the search... TFTC!

Couldn't come up with this one again. This time, a guy who works in the nearby establishment was parked on the obvious location with the trifecta of muggle standoff items: cell phone call, soda, and cigarette. There was no way he was moving any time soon -- I waited for 15-20 minutes and not a hindquarter moved. So off I went to find (and not-find) some other nearby caches. A few hours later, I came back by and he was STILL there with the cell phone attached to his ear and another beverage! He went inside to help someone for a very short time, and I did my best to shove my hands quickly around, but didn't come up with the cache before he came back out and I had to move on... Ugh.
Goblet of Fire: Part TwoBy: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular
I was surprised that I was as useful as I was for the intermediate stages, given that LeChuck was sitting in the backseat actually reading one of the HP books and its been a while since I went through the series... Anyhow, I was derailed at one of the last stages with Geo Baby, so left the final calculations up to WalruZ and ended up in a (ahem) interesting part of the cemetary where LeChuck speculated that random dead people might be taking a swim. On that note, Geo Baby (in the front pack today) and I decided to turn around and wait for a recalculation. After that, I could only go so far with her strapped to me, so WalruZ had to go the last bit alone.
