Bad Dog!

By: vaccine Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was my first stop on my commute home from work, so I didn't have the baby to distract me and I still had some patience (save what they took from me at work) to do a nice thorough search. Didn't take too long to come up with it, but I can see how it might be a time-consuming cache... Thanks!

Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!

By: JimmiGee Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I stopped by this cache on my way home, routing my commute path over a different bridge so that I could cache some "new" territory. I felt surprising comfortable searching the area in the dark, invisible almost. Seems like the Hermit will accept this cache for "westward ho", so thanks twice!

Which Way?

By: JimmiGee Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

As long as I was in the area with my new-fangled autorouting GPSr... Was smart enough not to actually use the autorouting, though, and looked at the map myself. Last one before I had to get home and be a responsible parent. Thanks!

Just a little wooden bridge.

By: nlrw Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

As my second stop on my commute home, I had plenty of daylight to work with but needed a little extra help from my BFL nonetheless. I just about DNF'd it a second time, but I said that I'd check one more place a second time, and there it was. Funny how one's eyes can just pass over stuff, eh? Also logging this find for the Hermit, Thanks.

Es Effo Bug Hotel

By: bthomas Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Revisited the airport lounge to see who needed to go where. Took the shuttle bug, since its goal explicitly stated that it wasn't to fly to Florida. Also took the knight so that it could get a proper goal tag.

Eye Cue Test

By: Rogue Ramblers Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I think you ought to bump the difficulty back up on this one.

Birthplace of Biotechnology

By: the_navigator_25 (adopted by mjp303) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Came by today, and when I spotted the search area figured that 5:30 on a Wednesday afternoon just wasn't a great time for this one. I'll come back one of these days when I'm working later...

"De Plane, De Plane"

By: dancing hiker Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Fourth on the log, seemed a little creepy just after dark with an old and occupied RV parked nearby, but I've been in far creepier places so I just went for it. Thanks!

Bart: San Bruno Station

By: TheAprilFools Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Glad I wasn't riding BART today! Seems nothing was pulling in and out of the station, systemwide.

Sticky Wicket

By: joescales and image415 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Found the super-secret unlocked entrance and nonchalantly walked the area. A guy was practicing, and he seemed to wonder what I was doing "inside", but all he did was say hi. Nice sized cache for the area! Thanks.

Bart: Daly City Station

By: TheAprilFools Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Came by after work today to try again without the rain. Found it pretty quickly, so I have no idea why I didn't get it last time here -- I know I looked there... TFTC!

This Should Be WalruZ's Cache

By: Kindergarten Teacher Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I like what they've done to the area, what I could see of it in the dark anyway. I was pretty lucky tonight, as I had the place to myself most of the time I was there, but man was it windy and a little on the cool side. At least it wasn't raining... TFTC!

City Stairway: Grand Pacheco

By: rosmo Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

A neighbor was working on his yard nearby, but didn't seem to be bothered that I was dallying around on the staircase looking around. I've been by here before, thinking I'd place a cache, but couldn't quite figure out how. I'm glad you did. TFTC!

I Left My Heart in San Francisco

By: beck1980 & unleashthefreak Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Micro

I had a little time before work, so I thought I'd take a route that would allow me some search time at this cache. I zeroed out at a rather unlikely spot, given the other hiding opportunities in the area that are relatively out of the neighbors' zone. It was right in front of a neighbor's house that happened to be coming in and out of the garage this morning right at the time I was there. It sort of reminded me of my Biscuits N Gravy experience, only it was daytime and this is a rather posh and non-thoroughfare SF neighborhood with no businesses that would provide a good excuse to be there. I got stared at pretty good, but not challenged, and after about 10 minutes felt I should probably leave. Given coop's DNF, I wonder if the last few finders were noticed and the cache dealt with...

Gotta Love It

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I was out trawling for Hermit's Quest requirements after the unevent, and this was just about a 2-fer! I've never had the pleasure of caching with Motorbug, but perhaps someday we can stomp up a hill together or something... Thanks WoW, for the cache at the KK, even though I wouldn't let myself stop after indulging in a strawberry shake nearby!

I Like Mine Animal-style!

By: gumbyandeddy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I parked, I grabbed, and then followed the next suggestion. I like mine strawberry. Satisfies requirement #16 for the Hermit's Quest. Thanks!

Camp, Veranda Cafe and Pinnacles March

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Not chosen

We all had a fabulous time doing the hike, and eating pastries, even if we were somewhat late to all the event points. WalruZ and I had an animated discussion about whether we were going to be able/justified in logging the event cache, but then we were fortunate enough to time the end of our 5 mile loop hike with the end of the 11 mile hikers, which gave us the opportunity to be social enough to consider it an "event" for us (plus dinner at hotshoe's recommendation was good too)! I took the first leg of baby-trekking until we reached the last Earthcache, and then WalruZ did the mileage over the peaks and downhill. Geo Baby was cooperative for the first 4 miles or so, but then had sort of gotten done with being in the frontpack. I don't really blame her, but wait until she has to hike around on her own two legs... I had never done an Earthcache before, and so this was a first for me. We also saw lots of sailing Condors in the air and the start of wildflower season was afoot. All was interesting, to say the least. We didn't get a chance to do any caves, since they weren't quite baby-friendly. Maybe next t ime... We've got great photos from the day, and I'm excited for the next time we can come back to Pinnacles and finish off the caches. Thanks for organizing it, Bud!

Don't Blink!

By: sloigo Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I somehow felt watched from nameless and faceless people in the windows wondering why we drove up to their driveway. I guess that's what happens, though, in a small town... thanks!

Please Adopt Me

By: sloigo Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I got it when we got there, but WalruZ was the one to really get it... Thanks!

Four Boulders and a Tree

By: sloigo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

All I could think about while looking for this cache was Hugh Grant. What's all that about? Thanks for the big cache today!

Are we there Yet III?

By: sloigo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

It might have been more prudent to find this on the way, but we were in a hurry to begin our hike and saying "are we there yet" way too much. So, grabbed it on the way home. Thanks!

A Green Valley View

By: sloigo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

And there was lots of green to see in late March, and some very hungry cows chomping down... Thanks for the cow cache! I'll be using this for a Hermit's Quest requirement.

Turn Here II

By: sloigo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Always nice to have a backup to autorouting in the form of a cache. Thanks!

Road End

By: momagna Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Thanks for the stop!

54 Miles

By: momagna Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

One of our last stops on the way to dinner after hiking the Pinnacles. Man, were we hungry by this point, since we had basically missed the breakfast event! WalruZ and I talked about the neat little history associated with this "town" and off we went. This cache has the right combination of numbers in its coords to be logged in the Hermit's Quest caching adventure! TFTC.

Paicines Reservoir

By: momagna Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

On our way back from hiking in Pinnacles, we decided to stop for a few along the way. Thanks for the cache and the nice view of the water! It was close enough to count for the Hermits quest for gold caching adventure. TFTC.

Sampling of Rocks in Pinnacles NM Earthcache

By: TerryDad2 - adopted by Mauison Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Not chosen

We were running late to the geoevent due to baby issues, so off we went to do our own little 5 mile loop hike through Pinnacles. I still don't think I would want to try pronouncing most of those names, but they sure made a set of pretty colors!

Split Volcano - Pinnacles NM East Earthcache

By: TerryDad2 - adopted by Mauison Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

What a fabulous day to be hiking Pinnacles! We strapped on the baby and enjoyed the views! Here are Geo Baby and I in front of the visitor center. We asked about logging in at the desk, but they're waiting for new pages or something...

Chalone Creek Fault ? Precursor to the San Andreas

By: TerryDad2 - adopted by Mauison Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Not chosen

I've always been interested in faultlines and earthquakes, so it was nice to see the example of the fault "in green" as it were. I was also glad to get to this point, because it was my turn to hand the baby over and walk without the extra weight! WalruZ got a better shot of it with me and the baby than I did with him! The Hermit's caching quest geological landmark (big split in the mountain would be something native americans would have used to describe a navigation route) requirement fit this cache well!

WXYZ

By: sloigo Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I had a brief flashback Joe-Spaz-style while doing this one! Thanks for introducing us to the camping area, and providing a nice pit stop at the nearby cinder block facility!

Ready to Hike 2

By: sloigo Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I was ready, so we hiked and found the cache afterwards. Thanks!

Camp, Veranda Cafe and Pinnacles March

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Not chosen

We'd be up for a breakfast-only event on Saturday but we'd be getting there around 9:30-10ish, regardless. Otherwise, we'll be at the Visitor Center at 10am on Saturday for a short hike if the weather permits.

Bart: Daly City Station

By: TheAprilFools Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I can't believe I'm DNFing a BART series cache, but here it is. Spent about 45 minutes on site and in the rain, but it wasn't anywhere I was looking for it. Either I'm losing it or vaccine and mjp303 weren't stealthy enough last night [:P]

Bart: South San Francisco Station

By: TheAprilFools Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The last find after work on this rainy night. I got drenched at this one, but it was fun nonetheless. Its always fun when a find is involved... TFTC!

Bart: Colma Station

By: TheAprilFools Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Quick stop in the rain on the way home from work, thanks!

Thrive

By: pddoc Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

It was a pretty rainy night tonight, so security wasn't rushing out to see what I was up to, although they did watch me walk back toward the cache site. I was there for quite a while, as I was working with just waypoints this evening. My main problem was in thinking that the place (where the cache ended up being) couldn't possibly be where the cache was and so searching everywhere else. I have a Kaiser connection in the family, too, but I myself work at UCSF. Thriving is good, regardless of who does the health promotion, in my book.

There Is A Safeway Of Doing Things

The Hostile Hospital

By: Kilroy Gang Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I arrived at dusk for a quick after work find. I was luckily out of view of the people sitting in their car listening to the radio (and whatever else). Left a Geo Baby magnet, took digitalfish. TFTC!

By: nlrw Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Made a quick stop on the way home from work, testing out the autorouting on my new LegendCX. Worked surprisingly well for this one! Thanks for the smiley.

Just a little wooden bridge.

By: nlrw Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

If its still there, I'm sure I'll be much better off hunting for it in the daytime. There was a cool-looking male black widow spider hanging around the general search area...

El Larios

By: sloigo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I wonder how many subdivisions they'll put around here in a decade's time? Thanks for showing us this little neighborhood.

Dats all Folks 2!!

By: sloigo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Dat was all for us today. Had to head on home after this one. TFTC!

One Lane Ahead

By: sloigo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Threw? Nah, more like handed. But the baby was crying and I had to get back to the car to pacify her with the pacify-her. Nice little country road is right. I've never had the need to take Rocks Rd farther than the Eucalyptus at 101. This is a neat place back here. TFTC!

Contemplate, Rejoice and Help Conserve

By: campyc Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Not having the benefit of the description or hint, I concentrated my efforts on the item with the cache title's namesake, as everything else was blooming in leaves of three. Even the bench, however, had a nice healthy sprig blocking the back of one of the bench legs... When WalruZ read the description, I pretty much sat down and waited for him to give up. I had a baby to nurse when I got home, and I wasn't about to test out her immunity. I can imagine in November/December this area did not look so green, but I'd put money on the bet that in 2 months time there won't be a path to the cache that doesn't have poison oak in the way. Given that I was going to be looking for a cammo'd micro in the woods with no hint, in a field of poison oak, I thought I'd happily take the DNF and get back to the house.

Last Minute Cache

By: sharkbait56 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Great cache! We timed our searches since Pt. Lobos was a popular place to be today. Thanks for the fun.

Greatest Meeting of Land and Sea

By: campyc Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I have been to Pt. Lobos many times in my life, but I don't think I've ever been on this area of this trail. Thanks for the hint!

Illuminati

By: Touchstone Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Revisited with the WalruZ. This hike wasn't nearly as steep as the last few we've attempted here [;)] Cache is still in good condition, and it was a great night to be out at Huckleberry Hill.

101 Excursion: Eucalyptus

By: cc Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I could have sworn I posted a DNF for this one two months ago... I must be getting loopy from lack of sleep. As WalruZ indicated, two months ago Mr. Rooter was taking a break right where we wanted to be with no indication that he was going to unplug anyone's drain anytime soon. In fact, we parked very near to him and started roaming around suspiciously but he didn't budge. This time, we were happy to see that Mr. Rooter was out on call somewhere, or had found another place to hide from the world. WalruZ found the cache right away in a spot that we could not have searched last time! Thanks!

Down the Rabbit Hole

By: The Architect Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Whew. I didn't know if I could handle coming out here (a park I love to hike in when I'm vacationing down at "Camp Grandma") another time if I didn't get this cache again! From our previous mistakes, we knew the trails we needed to take and so didn't even take our GPSrs or the trailmaps. It became ju st a matter of following the tacks. With the exception of the "no parking sunset to sunrise" signs (these have to be a new installation, I don't remember them the previous visits) at the posted coords, the entire evening went rather smoothly. We ended up parking in a residential area and walking in , since the park hours still appear to be until 10pm.

The evening was crisp and quite pleasant for a night hike, with a bit of wind to make it nice and clear. I took advantage of the cool weather to try and push myself up the hills a bit faster, which ruffled the WalruZ a bit. We had a little tro uble finding the cache at the apparent cache site, but I think that was more because I was looking for Illuminati-style markers. Just a bit of patience and I had the cache in hand. It felt a little light, so I added some swag and a TB.

I can now say that I took the red pill. TFTC.

The Coin & Sig Item Share & Swap Event

By: Kindergarten Teacher, image415, joescales Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

Assuming that my work schedule doesn't get in the way, I'll be attending this event with Geo Baby in tow and perhaps a few coins to trade. Geo Baby is due for some immunizations a few hours beforehand, so she may not be in the best mood, though...

Firth Park

By: mjp303 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Was able to find some time to grab this one on the way home from work. I've seen this park before, while trolling for hidden trailheads, but it always seemed to be occupied. Luckily on this rainy night it wasn't. TFTC!

Vista Point

By: mjp303 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I figured I had just a little more time before my presence at home would really be missed (thus provoking loud wailing noises), so I swerved off my normal after work course and found a neat little neighborhood that hadn't quite made it onto the mapping software for my GPSr. Thanks!

Chesbro Dam

By: pedaler Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

By: Blue iis Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Corporate Cache Series

By: Team - Two Peas In A Pod Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Other

Visited sites 1 and 2, thanks to a helpful nudge from Kablooey about the first hide. Stage 2 was totally soaked through, and we had a hard time finding where the next stage coordinates were on the logsheets since they were stuck together and tended to rip when we tried to pry them apart. Found them finally and made a note, as we weren't going that direction...

Momma's Magnets

By: kaesky Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

By: NavySparksandtheMrs Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This park was sorta familiar, except that it looks completely different... I was here eons ago DNFing No Name Park right after it had a name. This time I brought WalruZ and Geo Baby, because 6 eyes are better than 2, even if 2 of them were mostly closed during the journey! Thanks.

Okay, two trips here in the evening/night rain so I'm going to post a DNF. First trip out I concentrated on one particular area, and ended up slipping and making a drunken-like fool of myself in front of a patron of the establishment who sorta came up on me and startled me. Second time back was closing, so I got to talk to the owner as he ended his day (nice guy, and he knows/approves so its all good). Still didn't find it because I was a little hurried and didn't search perhaps as well as I could have, and then it started hailing on me. I figured that I had other responsibilities and it was sorta foolish to be standing out there in the hail looking for a film canister, so I aborted mission. But...

Found this one quicker than I expected to. Coords were right on!

Burton Park Revisited

By: Rogue Ramblers Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was fairly early on in my rainy afternoon caching expedition on my way to Belmont. I didn't get the hint, but then I wasn't trying very hard so that's to be expected. I ended up wandering around a little, trying things out (it turns out that my upper body strength isn't what it used to be for certain directional velocities at particular angles) when the adolescents across the way were paying attention to something else. Then I got a little frustrated cuz it started to rain again and things weren't moving, so I called WalruZ for a pep talk. He confirmed that I was doing okay so I stuck with it. Its good to have a cheerleader sometimes... Thanks!

There were a few different places to look, but I ended up finding it relatively quickly. Thanks!

As I cased out the sidewalk, it started to rain again, so I just went for it... TFTC!

Cedar Street Park

By: Rogue Ramblers Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I had a little time before getting to the unevent to pick up some coins from Marky, so I thought I'd do a little caching on the way even though I was getting thoroughly rained on most of the time. I'm embarrassed to say that I needed a push with this one. Before consulting with WalruZ, I had looked in the very nearby area that could house the type of cache advertised, and was sorta getting that "needle-in-a-haystack" feeling after a while. Reading the description, I was led to think of all those Fremont FCs hidding in small parks (all of which I've found), none of which are hidden this way... That was probably the problem. I'm not sure I'd agree on a 2* difficulty for this one, with so many hiding places to examine and so many windows to worry about. TFTC.

Cora's cache

By: Muggle Finder Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I was misled by my GPSr to a different location in the park, and convinced myself that it was probably gone because the place I went to was so perfect for hiding a small cache... Then WalruZ told me I was way off and sent me back out to find it. Hopefully didn't attract the attention of the patrons of the park, although they looked like they were taking a long nap anyway. Thanks!

Not too many muggles around today, just lots of traffic! TFTC.

"Mom, what's for dinner???"

By: clu5150 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

One thing about an almost-5-month-old: when you wanna eat, you wanna eat no matter what's going on. She's getting picky about her menu on the weekends, too. Too bad the donut shop had closed already. Sent out WalruZ and LeChuck for some beverages while we waited for Geo Baby to finish.

WalruZ made the grab on this one, then we were going to have to get Geo Baby home before she got really upset at being in the carseat most of the afternoon. TFTC!

Mom, that's where we saw the butterflies...

I guess my head's smaller than WalruZ'. He was starting a methodical search of the nearby plant life. His favorite kind, too... TFTC!

The End of The Road

Not sure what to say about this one, but the spot is fantastic. Left a travelling geocoin, as I'm pretty sure this one is safe from muggling. TFTC!

Always nice to turn around a DNF. Thanks for the replacement!

Not gonna argue with the title to this one, but we had a reason to stop here today, and it had Huggies written all over it...

This one was all WalruZ, although I did assist with the title object... TFTC.

Finally found the super-secret stealth entrance to this one, after finding my self nose to nose with a chain link fence. WalruZ sure can be persistent when it comes to caching. Dropped a TB.

A keg. Yeah, a big old hydraulic keg for beer-tapping fun after the rockets are all launched. Yeah, that's it.

This should be fun to see on the diagram: N to oneangrypuppy

That taps me out (what fun it was -- I still come back and look at the pretty circles from time to time)...

mmmmm, green!
