I was on campus today for a talk, and since the talk ran late I could sit in traffic on 880 or I could hunt a few caches before I was expected at home. I have no idea what your description means, but after having WalruZ read it to me, I just decided to sit down and think about where I'd find the cache. A little handiwork and I had it! The cache itself was in okay shape. The log was damp, but seemed to be the work of sprinklers rather than local wildlife. It was very signable, particularly since I was carrying a Sharpie with me, but I kept it out of the container for a while just to help it out. Neat art, thanks!
Oakland's Own Oasis, UpgradedBy: zuckermn Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small
[I was in at UCB for a talk this afternoon, and had a special errand to run for WalruZ nearby, so I thought I'd take advantage of the post-work, pre-closing hour of this facility. I was nervous about eating up time finding parking though, so I opted for the ultra-convenience of the attached garage ($4/30 min). I had the area to myself, and it is quite nicely landscaped. There was some "police activity" a few blocks over which had 4 helicopters whirring above, almost stationery. That was sort of surreal, like something you'd see just before a big action scene in the Matrix franchise. GPSr was a little wonky, even though the high rises were far enough away to seemingly allow a full and clear view of the sky. I just ignored the garage rate and sat down to see where it would settle. Found it after a reasonable search. Thanks, except ]I apparently get allergic reactions to juniper even when exposure is less than 30 seconds!

I wasn't late today, particularly since I saved all my caching for after the talk I was on campus to hear. The talk ran late, though, so I decided to wait out the rush hour traffic and take a nice walk around the North side of UCB. Found this one pretty quickly as soon as I saw what you were bringing me here to see! Thanks for this cache!

I was on campus for a talk this afternoon, and when it ran a little late I decided to hunt a few caches rather than sit in freeway traffic. I really liked the cache site, and even found great parking. It is neat that they left the trees when the area was getting built on. TFTC!
ITSA #2ABy: JDUDE250 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
I had about 10 minutes of free time between getting off CalTrain and needing to get on the freeway, so I swung by. I mean, its "easy" -- difficulty 1.5 and handicapped-accessible, right? Maybe it is, but my GPSr was reading 15 ft and 263 ft alternately at the site, and when it was reading 15 ft it was pointing me into an area cordoned off by caution tape. At 263 feet it was pointing into an occupied trailer in the parking lot of one of the adjacent establishments. I didn't have much of a chance to be thorough, given the flipping coord reading and the 10 minutes allotted to the search. Another day...

Visited this cache with WalruZ on our return to Berkeley after last weekend's rain out of our caching plans. I had never been to the Aquatic park before; its a pretty neat little place. Thanks!

Caching in and around the Berkeley area today, since we were not able to do it justice last weekend due to the event logistics and the rain. This time we were able to strap Geo Baby in my backpack carrier and do the loop. It was a great day to be out, and there were lots of people enjoying the sunny weather and the cool breeze. Even Geo Baby appreciated the excursion, and started pushing herself backwards and upside-down in the pack to catch some rays (see WalruZ' photo). This cache is a fitting tribute to Leigh Ann. thanks.

We had come out here when it was first published to try for an FTF, back when Geo Baby was still incubating and I had just started donning maternity wear. Alas, despite the unevent that occurred to look for the cache, no one came up with it that evening. We were back in the area today, this time with a fully-developed and teething Geo Baby and found the cac he quickly. Thanks!

Took a nice little hike with the family today to grab these challenging terrain caches that are so nearby the house. When we got up to the site, I took a look around and then WalruZ started crashing around where he remembered it being ( I guess I had been rummaging around too long or something) and couldn't find it. I never really attained a zero point at the location, if you know what I mean... To make a long story short, it wasn't where WalruZ had found it a handful of times in the past, but I stumbled across it on my way down, hidden nicely and just waiting for me to find. So, I guess it might have migrated, but it is still there! The log and insides were a little damp, but still signable. Thanks!
LeChuck's Cursed TreasureBy: LeChuck Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular
Aaaaargh, we 'most lost our minds at the faerie land where the sprites was a' buzzin' all 'round our heads. Our littlest matey was a bit peckish, but we'd run off all the hidden eyes on our arrival at the grove. The treasure was ours to find, but it took some near searchin' since our trusty navigator was a havin' loads of trouble an' everyw here seemed to be 7 feet away. Didn't take none of the pearls, but there was a handful in thar to be had. This pirate doesn't need any more curses to be wrought!

I was so close to this one today, running some household errands at the nearby warehouse store, so Geo Baby and I found some parking around the corner, and had a stroll to the cache site. The weather was great and the baby was game, so all went as planned. Thanks!

I managed to unshackle myself at work in The City and get on a very early (for me) train home, but that wasn't good enough to get this Bad Boy... I kept calling WalruZ during my commute home for the updated coords, but no dice.

East of the Bay, West of the Hills IIBy: motogrrl Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen
This was a nice event with lots of socializing, just as motogrrl would have wanted it, and very pleasant weather in the morning. WalruZ and I haven't quite found a way to deal with her passing, but allowing us to provide event stuff today helped a bit. I don't think it has all fully sunk in for me. Motogrrl and I were "phone-a-friends" and that's not something insignificant in my book (I think only a handful of cachers have my cell phone number and I don't do much phone-for-cache outside my household). Over the last year and a half or so, WalruZ, myself, and the Bay Area caching community have been treated to fabulously witty logs, well-done cache hides, and wonderful email exchanges about cac hes she sought or hid. I've gotten quite used to (and fond of) seeing her at Events, on the GBA forums, and the odd phone call here and there from the great wide world. I know she's still exploring and still smiling. The selfish part of me wishes that it was still happening here with us, but I suspect she's exploring something bigger and infinitely better... Thanks to Z for checking into the reservation, Muggle Finder, British Invasion and Vaccine for doing the early shift at the tables. Thanks also to DavidT21 and Wacka for stepping up to the BBQ and Marky for bringing nametags. I'm probably forgetting someone, since this became such a group effort , so thanks!

Had a nice walk around the baylands today with LeChuck, WalruZ and Geo Baby. Only WalruZ came with me to find this cache, though, as the kids had pressing business in the car I guess... Ah well, it was a nice walk and we saw some neat little planes. I didn't see the TB in the cache, but I did see the ants in the environs (none so bold as to get in the cache, though).
That Cache by the Duck PondBy: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular
What a nice afternoon! I guess they give partial lobotomies to some of the ducks around here, but Geo Baby managed to find the cache and have lunch unscathed. Dropping a trackable coin that was destined to go to The Cache That Takes Forever To List, but ended up here instead. TFTC.

The cloud cover was playing havoc with our first few caches today, so this one read about 60 feet off when I found it. I didn't bother taking other coords by this time, since the last three caches were all reading about 50 feet when we found those too! Anyhow, nice cache to find on our little outing. Thanks!

LeChuck and I did just about everything to the hinted object, but no cache. I starting hanging my head, and to my utter horror WalruZ (with baby on back) leans forward -- way forward. As I tried to let out the breath that I'd swallowed somehow, he stands up and starts searching in that way, and whaddaya know there was the cache!
Palo Alto Baylands - Top of the HillBy: geekster Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
[The first few caches we went for today, I was at ~50 feet when we found them. This was our second stop, so I was still taking coords thinking that my GPSr couldn't be that bad off, right? I'm not going to even bother posting them, since the next 4 caches had the same thing going on. As the day wore on and the clouds changed position (I guess) things got a little better, though. I thought that this was a tough hide, at least it took us a fairly long time to methodically locate it given the distance of the zero points between WalruZ' GPSr and mine.] I thought the hint was sorta imprecise, given its actual hiding spot... Baylands Trail JunctionBy: geekster Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
I figured my services were not needed where WalruZ and LeChuck were looking, so I went to where my GPSr decided the cache should be (again, some 40 feet away from them). LeChuck must not have been interested today, since WalruZ came up with this one with Geo Baby looking over his shoulder!

WalruZ and I will be bringing items to allow us to use the BBQs there, and some extra meat and drink for people. Please bring your own food/drink, or bring something to share and partake of ours as well. Coolers with ice are always useful as well. I haven't been to the park in a long time, so I don't know what the shade situation is like, or how busy it will get. I plan on getting there as close to 10 as I can.

We'd be honored to do whatever it takes to make this event happen, in the spirit of Leigh Ann. We'll bring stuff for the BBQ, a cooler full of drinks, and some paper products to eat off of. The website for the park states "Picnic areas are available on a first-come basis; special events open to the public need a rental permit. " Does anyone know which area motogrrl got the permit for?

Corporate Cache SeriesBy: Team - Two Peas In A Pod Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Other
Out for Mother's Day today, visiting family. We had already done stages 1 and 2, so we started at 3. I had been near stage 3 before for a different cache, but that one must be gone now to have this one so close. Took a bit of a run-through with the hands but came up with it. At stage 4, there was only one place it could be, and it was there, so that was good. Stage 5 was greatly aided by having found Stage 1 (thanks Bloo!), although I much prefer to be able to see those kind of containers. At the final, I thought it was a really good thing that people don't wrap their litter in cammo tape, cuz I would have never found it otherwise. Glad to have this off the nearest list to my brother's house. Th anks for the smiley.

I don't think I've ever taken the detour off my normal routes to see this mission! Its really quite quaint, and there's lots of interesting history around it to read and see. So much so that we spent the rest of our time going through the old buildings nearby and didn't get to the last couple caches we had planned to do before moving on down to Monterey. Thanks!

As we walked up, I commented to WalruZ that we should have brought Geo Baby with us. As it turned out, we happened upon Chickasaw and so our little party of 3 made the search seem normal even without little ones around. A well-hidden cache it has to be, because I don't think I've ever been by here when this structure wasn't crawling with all sorts of curious little hands and feet. Luckily the hint was spot-on and us grownups didn't look too strange at this end of the line...
Lauren's ParkBy: HotRod62 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
I think we pretty much looked everywhere there was to look. We had the park to ourselves and after a while brought the baby out to justify our long visit there. Assuming it is still there, this one is just too good for us, I guess...
Treasure Island IIBy: Touchstone Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 5.0 Container: Small
We brought Geo Baby by Grandma's house, and got the feeling that we were sort of superfluous there. In fact, Grandma hinted very loudly that we should go out and do something somewhere else so that they could have some fun playing. I didn't realize that we were such spoil sports, but off we went anyway. This turned out to be the highlight of my day! Thanks for the paddlin' fun for Mom and Dad.

[I happened to be otherwise engaged at the Parnassus campus today, so after work I moseyed on over in the car, then walked up, then down, then down again, then down some more, then up, up, up , up, and finally back down to the car. My main problem was that I only carried with me my unloaded GPSr and some scribbled leg information with a general sense of where the starting coords would be. Had some trouble with leg 1 after having to think quite precisely all day at work, but a call to WalruZ (where he could map various versions of coords that potential answers would make) allowed me to get onto the final. Multi caches are often subject to unintended interpretations by rogue cachers in the field...] Leg 1 was technically incorrect using the way I had it written down (cache page has changed since then?) by an order of magnitude, and in any case lacks particular logical operators required for A, X, and Z to make sense. [No matter, I always enjoy this area, and I could see the front windows of my old house while I retrieved the final. Thanks for the cache!]
