Carlos Theater

By: NavySparksandtheMrs Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Walked right to it... Things seemed to be slowing down for the evening, but I still had to time my retrieval and replacement. I may even have time for one more cache before my curfew looms! TFTC.

Bercut Equitation Field

By: dimkasmir & OwlCacher Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Forgot to drop the coin with my previous log...

Bercut Equitation Field

By: dimkasmir & OwlCacher Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Ahhh, another post-work visit does the trick. Awfully lot of places to look without that hint! TFTC.

7yr Girls Goodies Sports Park

By: Erin Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Took a very nice walk around the sports park today with the family, including Geo Baby's Aunt Sue who is visiting for the weekend. Lots of activity in the park today, but we had a good-lookin' group as cover!

Bushy

By: obobrowne Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Last cache on a nice family walk around the soccer tournament, thanks!

Foul Ball

By: clubjackie Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Basically walked right to it. Of course I had the advantage of not having Geo Baby strapped to the front of me, and Aunt Sue pointing me in the right direction with a feet measurement, so there were few spots to check...

Seven Hills Speedway, Union City

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Had a nice morning outing with Geo Baby today, we played on the swings and took a nice little frontpack-aided walk out to the cache site. I almost made a mistake, but the checksum caught me and I read more carefully. We saw a family of deer on the way, including two very young ones, but they were a little skittish of us and were off before Geo Baby really figured out that they were animals. There were also many many albino snails. I've never seen an a lbino snail before, at least not that I remember. A spider was guarding the cache, but it seemed more scared of us than we were of it. Dropped a Jeep and a travelling coin. Thanks for the nice morning.

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow..

By: joescales Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

There are many potential ways to get to the checksum, and I found a few of the wrong ones. Luckily they didn't map to logical places. It took the hint to set me on a different path. Took a travelling geocoin and left a swapper. TFTC!

Passage to India

By: pdx55 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Lots of company here this morning, but it was mostly of the canine variety. Took a while to zero in on the well-hidden cache. Thanks!

Bercut Equitation Field

By: dimkasmir & OwlCacher Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

5:45-6pm: I usually never have to log 2 DNFs in one day, but I thought that I might have a shot at this one after work when I could really do a thorough search on a larger portion of the area (given the past logs). Unfortunately most of my time has been spent waiting out some people that pulled in to park in front of the closed gate, and I really should head home to attend to Geo Baby. I have a strange suspicion that at least one of the people was the cache owner or another cacher, but they didn't seem to respond to me carrying my GPSr and pacing around. Oh well...

Bercut Equitation Field

By: dimkasmir & OwlCacher Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

With the letterbox-style description and the spoiler hint, I should have been able to come up with this one. Alas, I couldn't...

A Rose is a Rose

By: AuntFlora Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I figured this would be a good cache to do on a weekday morrning, since I was unfamiliar with the specifics of the neighborhood. Looks like I really needn't have worried as it is much different here than it is just a few blocks west. Used erickson's coords, but since the GPSr was acting pretty wonky anyway, I just looked in the normal places and found it pretty quickly. Big crows in the park today - I guess they fed on greno's dragonflies! TFTC!

Flamanco Bump and Grind

By: T Diddy and Sea Mama Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Took the long way around and got a tour of someone's urban campground, but no one was home... Finally got to the right area and walked straight to the cache-yay me! I tried to be as slick as possible, but even if I wasn't stealthy enough the cammo job is excellent! Great evening out this way today as well, so I got bonus points on the whole experience! Thanks!

Aloha Forest? Here?

By: Toxic Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

There was a nice article sent around today by work about this area. It actually included a link to a trail map. http://medschool.ucsf.edu/news/features/public_service/0060814_MountSutro.aspx

De Anza Bonanza

By: Team Ottlet Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Nice little cache to stop at with Geo Baby so that we could finish up lunch and take care of a little diapering business, thanks!

Aug 19, 2006

is it in you?

By: dragonarmyhero Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Cache is in great shape -- I was wondering how the nearby business managed to fence off access to the public easement, anyway? TFTC!

Contemplate, Rejoice and Help Conserve

By: campyc Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Well, it didn't exactly resemble the photo, but I guess it was close enough for WalruZ. Thanks for the hide!

The Prettiest Place in the World

By: WalruZ and BuckyDef Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Okay, after 3 hikes out to this one, I'm getting tired of seeing it as unfound on my maps... Helped with placement and finally signed the second replacement log for the "find".

Dropping the bug that is trapped inside the replacement cache...

Expert Geocachers' Badge

By: C Major and C Minor, Monkeynuts16, and Tigger Difficulty: 5.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Other

We had a great time learning how to do the orienteering during the morning session, and it was quite fortunate that we signed all the logs then as our day of caching was cut short just afterwards due to some overexuberant finish line antics... Geo Baby and I stopped by later and dropped off our "ammunition" but we had missed most of the party! Thanks for all the organizing and great fun.

Standing in line waiting for Chow.

By: Tigger31314 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I like to take these on backpacking trips, but I haven't done any real backpacking since Geo Baby came on scene. Anyway, no time to trade, since we were trying to get there first (yeah, and what a great idea that turned out to be...)! TFTC.

Girls Rule!

By: Junior Girl Scout Troop 2022 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I was with that first group, but they hadn't remembered the all-important stamp until I thrust our paper at WalruZ to take care of it! TFTC.

Water Buffalo

By: Tigger31314 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

You know, I was doing most of the mapping for the morning run with the GBA group, so I figured out the general area and about how many meters off the road and pointed in the general direction of the cache for WalruZ to go fetch, then he musta walked right by it and decided to go search someplace like 1000 feet away... Yeah, lost time.

You Can't Miss this Eucalyptus

By: C Major and C Minor Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

We did this one last in the challenge, since it was a bit of an outlier, so the competition was on to get back to the Event coords as soon as it was found! Thanks!

First Aid

By: monkeynuts16 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

Pretty cool setup there! Thanks!

Javelin Aniti-Armour Missile

By: monkeynuts16 Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The scene in the morning was just a pack of people wandering around in this scrubby area, it looked pretty surreal from the road POV! TFTC.

Polo Field

By: T Diddy & Sea Mama Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Came back today and figured out that I had been fixated on the wrong end of the container - brilliant, eh? The log isn't going to get wet anytime soon. Great urban hide, one of the best I've seen. TFTC!

Ventana Del Mar

By: mjp303 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Great weather here this evening makes for a nicely relaxing caching experience after work. Found it much more quickly than I should have, so now I might even have time for another before heading across the bridge! TFTC!

Excel

By: Eagles Wing Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Some older gentleman decided to do laps ON the structure just as I pulled up. I was going to wait him out, thinking that one could only walk around it a few times before moving on to the walkway, but it appears that he thinks of it as some sort of track built for him. As I have a curfew for heading home in the evenings, I had to give up and head home when the time came...

Eucalyptus conferruminata

By: Rogue Ramblers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I stopped by after work and had just about decided that I was out of time to get back home before Geo Baby's bedtime when I spotted it. The trees were really having fun with my GPSr readings, but the finding the cache container more than made up for that! TNLNSL, thanks! Now to get on home...

Volunteer Recognition Cache

By: Fremont Claassens Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Still waiting for the FTF to log their visit and swapping of Jeeps so that we don't mess up the miles by grabbing the wrong ones...

The Prettiest Place in the World

By: WalruZ and BuckyDef Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

We'll be checking on this one (and replacing it, likely) this weekend. Between the event and our combined Monterey cache maintenance list, it looks like its going to be a full couple of days...

Volunteer Recognition Cache

By: Fremont Claassens Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

STF and TTF, after a nice long Geo Baby nap. Amazingly enough, the FTF didn't take the Jeep, so we've got it and have big plans for it this weekend! We had some pretty cool TBs and coins and stuff to drop, but none of it would fit through the opening, so just left a couple of Geo Baby sig items. Then, as we were making our exit, we met another cacher coming up the path. Always nice to see cachers in the wild [;)] Thanks for the cache. Edit: whoops, forgot the volunteer part. For Geo Caching, I'm a volunteer monitor for Ed Levin park. Community in general: I used to regularly volunteer at Central Park Summerstage in NY. Before Geo Baby, I used to do urban and trail clean up days through the Sierra Club, both in NY and CA. Sin ce Geo Baby, my "volunteering" has typically been professionally-oriented and involves teaching and conference organization activities. Boooooring, but at least giving back to that community...

Long Distance

By: Fremont Claassens Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

FTF! Did a little extra deductive reasoning to get this one, and figured that we were up for another little drive after-dinner. Geo Baby came along, although she was feeling a bit cranky as it was getting close to bedtime, but was glad she did when she saw the area. WalruZ, who had lobbied me earlier for this, was happy to do what he had wanted to before. So, all works out well for everyone involved in the end!

Long Distance

By: Fremont Claassens Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Hmmm, never seen a longitude starting with 155 around here... Those Michigonians musta gone and changed stuff or something.

Just Hangin' Around

By: Fremont Claassens Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

We decided to take a pre-dinner drive with the baby, and ended up (surprise surprise) at Birch Grove Park, fancy that... Found it in pretty short order, then off to Chili's (yeah, I guess this was a little out of our way) it was. TFTC. I'll upload a photo tomorrow...
