Chesapeake Bay? No, it's a creek

By: saopaulo1@hotmail.com Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Out with WalruZ, Geo Baby and LeChuck this morning. We decided to take the long way back from breakfast to nab this new cache. Thanks.

Park of Art

By: jellis50 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I've been all over SF in the last few years of Geocaching, and I don't think I've ever been inside this park! I never knew that there was such cool stuff here! Thanks for showing me this park.

Bicycle Row

By: T Diddy Sea Mama Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Brought the family 'round this way since I knew that I'd need the aid of WalruZ and donch'a know that it is getting harder and harder to get him up to the City! The rain this afternoon/evening cut into our caching plans, but I wanted to be sure to get to this one! Thanks so much!

Steinbeck #2--Frog Hunt

By: Badwaterboy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Nice little area and quite an interesting bridge to drive across! Dropped a TB here. Thanks!

Steinbeck #1--Pastures of Heaven--Castle Rocks

By: Badwaterboy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was our last stop before getting back to Geo Baby and Grandma today. I was a bit concerned about where the best parking was, but I don't think we did too badly with the turnout... Cache was in the obvious place, just a little challenging to extract! Thanks for the cache and showing us the rocks.

Steinbeck 33 1/3--Laureles

By: Badwaterboy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I was hanging back after having found the last cache to give everyone a turn at glory, but there are times like this that you just have to step in and speak up... I had scoped out this very view for a cache placement about 2.5 years ago but never got it together enough to put it out there. Nice to have one here!

I'm Lichen It

By: Roanq Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I've always enjoyed driving this area between Carmel Valley and 68, today we took the trip for a few caches. I liked this hiding spot! TFTC.

Lady Washington

By: el Jim Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

LeChuck did the honors, then we went to check out the cool ship! TFTC.

Steinbeck #5--Rosie's Garden

By: Badwaterboy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Out for an afternoon drive with WalruZ and LeChuck today after a short morning hike at Palo Corona. I walked right to this one as WalruZ was taking pictures of the garden and LeChuck was ambling around the way only a teenaged boy can do. After a quick raising of the eyebrow I had the cache in hand, nice construction! Thanks.

Tower of Power

By: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Far fewer people here on Turkey Day morn, I was able to contort myself well enough to spot it. TFTC!

STACT: End of the road and trail

By: bullit Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was hoping for a cache that would really be the end of the road, but it seems that the road just turns into a parking lot! TFTC!

Got Bugs? II

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

After striking out at the nearby Tower of Power I figured that I ought to drop off my Linz Swag and a geocoin I've been riding around with. Grabbed a few bugs without tags (which, of course are different than Men without Hats). I guess I should head home so that I can plan the big geodate... TFTC!

SC-8 - Remember the Carli Field Lizards?

By: nostrada (adopted by Bughound) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Lotsa places it could be, so I set to it and had it found in short order. I'm surprised to see the elementary school in session today. Thanks!

Picnic on the Corner

By: stbk Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I'm not sure why this little patch of green is here, either, but it is a great place for a "crossroads" cache! Thanks.

SC-5 - Harris Lass Museum - LCs

By: nostrada (adopted by Bughound) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Cute little area, I hope to bring the baby back here in a couple years on a day when the museum is open. Log is soaked through, but I was able to sign. A ziploc might work to counter the nearby sprinklers, but it was too wet for me to do that now... Thanks for maintaining the cache!

Down By the River

By: cjspontiac Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Cute little place! Had I known there were roosters, I'da brought Geo Baby along today - she would have enjoyed listening to them. TFTC!

Tower of Power

By: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Looks like I'm going to have to spark for a geodate with WalruZ after all...

Where are the fish?

By: jellis50 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

So, third time back to this site for me. Searched pretty thoroughly the items indicated by the original hint. All I could find (in all my visits) were several empty beer bottles and some empty hard liquor bottles. Expanded search on second hint to the cement shore, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary there - just mounds and mounds of litter. They're shooting a video on the pier today, or I'd have the place to myself. If this is cammod how I think it is from the second hint, and located in one of the two areas I was searching, it is mu ch harder than you think it is. Finders come to an area with a 30 foot EPE and muggles to contend with, without much knowlege of the hide...

Can You Feel the Spirit?

By: AuntFlora Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Coords seemed really good to me, led me to within about 20 feet of the cache - pretty good for all the trees here. I expected to encounter all sorts of folk in this park, but it was pretty clean and quiet. Now I'm off to catch my train home from 22nd street. thanks!

Music To Our Ears

By: Cachin' Katie and Sandi Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Wow - this one's an oldie! Swapped out some music and fit my name on the side of a log page. TFTC!

Arch You Glad to be Married?

By: TheEngagers Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Hmmm, I got to the site and pretty much figured out what sort of cammo it had to be for the difficulty level. I felt bad doing what I did to search for this cache - I hope I didn't set the City of San Ramon's gardeners back in any way. The way this was placed was truly a needle-in-the-haystack hide, but I was also right about the cammo... I'd probably classify this as a micro, though. It would be a nice area to get married, but today I'm especially glad that I already am. Thanks!

Curtner Coppice

By: CALHUNTER Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I've been meaning to do this cache for quite some time now, since it was one of my last unfound traditionals in Fremont. It took the Coin Quest 3 Time requirement (placed in a certain month and year) to get me to it. I had quite a bit of trouble with sats here, but the description and a previous log helped me out. TFTC!

Auto Swap

By: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Nice hide on a cute little trail. I didn't have anything themed to trade, so TNLN. Thanks!

No Change Required

By: Marky Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

It just so happens that this cache is about 2 blocks away from Pleasanton's Saturday morning Farmer's market, so I got WalruZ to stop by for the CC3 requirement and he waymarked the Farmer's Market. Thanks!

241HS3804

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

#1800 for me this morning! Out for some Coin Quest 3 fun, and decided to hit as many as I can that are close to home. I never really take the time to do puzzles, but I've known the secret to this one for some time and thought I'd give it a try! Thanks!

Juliana's Cache

By: beachbum67 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Nice little suburban park! No one was availing themselves of the nearby area so it was a quick find. TFTC.

Bernal Ace

By: n2books2 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

They had the whole parking lot for the station gated up this Saturday morning and a few unfortunate car owners were standing around trying to figure out what they were going to do. WalruZ found the cache in short order. Thanks!

Es Effo Bug Hotel

By: bthomas Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Dropped off 2 bugs. Tooter wants to go west, as far from Alabama (or some such place back thataway) as possible. Go Yen wants to go to Japan. It was dark and I had no pen with me, so I didn't note my visit tonight in the paper log or take inventory of what bugs are actually in the cache -- just stuffed the two bugs in and was on my way. Sorry.

TOY WORLD

By: Nana Nani Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

WalruZ was going through cache-withdrawal, and had {cough}happened{cough} to load his GPSr up for this area before we left home for our dinner plans. This was conveniently on the way to our on-ramp back home after dinner, so we stopped for a quickie. Thanks!

Been Here: Pastoria

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

As I walked to the search site, the log in its baggie was sitting on the ground. I did a cursory search for the container, but did not find it nearby. It may be there still, though. I signed the log and put it in a temporary container, small-to-medium sized, took some photos that I will email to the owner later tonight. I'm sure my replacement isn't where it should be and until the owner can come out here future searchers should take the hint with a grain of salt.

Baylands Backdoor

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

After about 15 minutes on the wrong side (that's a story in itself that I'll spare you), I headed back across to hunt some more. At some point I was seriously pondering what it would take to change my GC.com handle to some derivative of Kablooey. A little more wandering around did the trick. Took TB since the lid wouldn't close correctly. TFTC.

Don't Stop Here!

By: CTomGeo Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I got to see one of America's Future Adults as he traversed the walkway with his pants down to taunt the rush hour traffic with his recent manlihood. I waited until he and his friend left to look for the cache. Thanks for the experience!

Captain's Inn - The Geocache

By: two bison Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

WalruZ called it alright, but then he's always calling things... I retrieved this nicely hidden cache, then ran into two other groups of cachers on the hunt. TFTC!

Thistle Trail Cache

By: Doug Jennifer Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Other

We decided that the critical mass for strolling down this trail had been reached with the two recent trailhead and mid-point cache placements, so we kicked open the stroller, woke up the baby, and off we went! Thanks for the nice walk on an unseasonably warm day in the Monterey Peninsula!

Monterey Dunes Colony

By: el Jim Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I don't know why I couldn't come up with this one. I was looking entirely in the wrong area for quite a bit of time, so I'll just blame my GPSr. WalruZ had a bit more luck than I. TFTC!

Moss Landing Impromptu Beach Party

By: The Cache Syndicate Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

WalruZ, Geo Baby and I enjoyed the walk on the beach to the "bonus" cache (that we never would have been able to get to otherwise!), then headed in for a diaper change and some grub. I had no idea a full-blown event was going on just on the other side of the door from where we were dining until someone announced that it was raffle time! Yay for winning a backpack! So we get out there and Geo Baby decides that its time for her to find as much trouble as she can on the ground (and with the doggies), then after the raffle she decided that a temper tantrum would be a clear signal of her need for a nap, so we made exit quickly. Sorry to have missed talking with some MB local folks that I meant to catch up with, but this event still rated way up there for me!

Monterey Canyon Cache

By: el Jim, KoolRat and Hidey Hunter Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

Well, I feel like I've maybe taken the easy way out here, but then we've gotten out a ladder to find a cache before.... [:D] I suppose y'all just saved us the research on the tide tables and the actual climb, really. Thanks so much for the cache, the use of the ladder, and the event!

Monterey Bay Coastal Trail: Alisal Slough

By: BirdmanATW Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

We took a nice little stroll down the thistle trail to break up our day between Grandma's in Monterey and Geocachers at Moss Landing. This was an interesting spot to stop the stroller and hunt for a cache. I'm sure more than one or two speeding folks were curious what could be so interesting right there! Thanks.

Monterey Bay Coastal Trail - Castroville Trailhead

By: The Cache Syndicate Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

We enjoyed the routing point for the trailhead and the walk out and back to hit the other caches on the trail. It was quite stroller-friendly, which Geo Baby appreciated as well. We ended up going to find this one as the last of the bunch on the trail, and saw multiple groups of cachers running around the Castroville and Moss Landing areas afterwards. Thanks!

Salinas River SB River Walk

By: #1 geobears Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

It was about this time that we were weaving and dodging around all sorts of visiting geocacher groups. We decided that Geo Baby had been getting enough of a free ride while caching today, so she ended up being yanked out of her seat to find this one. TFTC!

USS Macon - Military Zeppelin

By: The Cache Syndicate Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Geo Baby and I were getting hungry by this time, so we sent WalruZ around to zero in on this one, while we maneuvered the finer points of the sidewalk (and what was lying on it). Thanks!

Western Sloughs - Global Warming

By: The Cache Syndicate Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

This was one of our last stops before hitting Phils and the cool Impromptu event. Geo Baby wanted to stretch her legs just a little, so we let her spot the cache. TFTC!

An excuse not to do your home work

By: monkeynuts16 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Nicely done! Thanks for the diversion on the way to the Impromptu Moss Landing event.

Native ?CAche

By: Terra •Indaga Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I've been meaning to do this cache for a long long time - ever since I started caching and spending lots of weekends on the Monterey Peninsula in early 2004ish. It's still in great shape and the area was quite enjoyable. Thanks!

Waterfront

By: Signorelli Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

My GPSr had me wandering around a bit before I decided to decode the hint ... TFTC!

Artichoke Valley

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Our first stop on our way down to visit grandma. I was first enamored with some other items, but found the cache quickly nonetheless... Finally remembered to drop el Jim's Monterey County geocoin. Thanks!

Hoo Hoo

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Walruz did the honors on this one while Geo Baby tried to figure out just what would make her happy while we did a few caches. She finally settled on her pacifier. TFTC!

Tracks Out Of Service

By: cc Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Walruz did the first pass of the site, then decided to tag out. Lots of people going to and fro' this morning. I decided to follow my GPSr around a bit before I spotted it. Thanks!

Tin Cannery View

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Not only were we able to grab this nice new cache (with a type of cache container I had not seen before), but Geo Baby got a new pair of shoes out of the deal from the place across the street! TFTC.

Plain Jane

By: kc8hnz Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Wow, this one took longer than expected. I can see where the proximity to the elementary school classroom doors would be a real weekday concern for the school personnel and searchers alike... TFTC!

On The Way To No Where!

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The Classic! Dropped a TB while we were here. Thanks for the cache.

Carmel Point

By: BaubleDoodle Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

This was my favorite cache location of the day - what a nice walk out to the cache area and the weather in Carmel was really wonderful! Thanks!

Lapis Junction

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Quick find for Walruz, then we had some fun pawing through the stuff. I took the geocoin assuming its a traveller, if not I'll have to owe this cache one... Walruz left some toys n stuff. TFTC!

Munras #1

By: #1 geobears Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I found this cache surprisingly quickly, though it was not the first (or even second) place I looked. Nicely done!
