Peninsula UnEvent Event

By: vaccine mjp303 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

I hope to be hitting my 2k around then also, assuming that the weather holds for the hike next Sunday... I love this restaurant too, so hope to make it there on the 25th!

Wimbledon West?

By: stbk Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The GPSr was feeling really wonky here, and the rain wasn't really making things any better, but I managed to find it on my second pass through my potential hiding spots. With all the no parking signs around here, I wonder where people are supposed to park in order to go to play in the park... Thanks!

Free WiFi #3

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

Knowing the area fairly well, I was able to solve this one offline. I take an evening class at the UCSC extension facility nearby, so it was a nice stop while I grabbed my dinner before class tonight. I almost didn't find it, but came back around after getting my sandwich and the rain relaxed a bit. I didn't use the free WiFi there, but I did get on some free WiFi at the UCSC facility. TFTC.

Jade Trade

By: 2frenchgirls Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Someone really didn't like that patch of jade plants, apparently. They've been heaved up and strewn about. I'd suggest an owner check on this one...

Ransom

By: The Rat Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

We were here just before sunset, not looking for a destination cache, but found one anyway! We managed to get the math done and the story read before the sun went down. Thanks so much for the hike. Didn't see the geocoin in there...

SandLots

By: Just a Short Walk Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Great place to watch the sunset, if there weren't so many clouds... That's just the way of the Monterey Peninsula I guess. Launched a geocoin here. Thanks.

Central Coast Seedbank (RELOADED! 9/05/05)

By: biggeeks Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

We were ambling through the area in the car, and I stopped for a nice little cluster of 3 in the area. I, too, saw the two lost seedlings sitting out of the cache, so I put them back in as to avoid further rust. I did shake all the ants off of them first though, as a courtesy to the next finder. Thanks for the cache!

Digi-Fort Ord

By: Team Biggeeks Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Did the puzzle a while back, but I don't typically get to go out of my way to find what I've solved, so I had to route our path by this one today on the way from Seaside to Marina! Things were a little wet, but that is to be expected with this type of container placed in this sort of manner during the winter. We didn't have the fully-stocked family cachemobile with us this weekend, so no spare logs to help out, sorry... TFTC.

Sculpture Habitat

By: Dale_Lynn Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

Fabulous stop on our afternoon of caching. We took lots and lots of photos. Thanks for the tour (and the nearby waymarks for WalruZ!).

Cypress Dunes

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

We enjoyed finding this nice big cache and seeing the trees. I don't normally venture out this way -- I had no idea there was more than one hotel here.

Drought Tolerant Cache

By: Team Biggeeks Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Nice area. As we walked up, there was the end of a planned cleanup in preparation for drought-tolerant tours to commence in May. We stayed a while talking to the remaining Garden Club member who told us quite a bit about the lupin and oaks growing in the patch of land. TFTC.

Below Sea Level

By: cc Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Wow, there was a free bike nearby, but we decided to leave all that stuff alone and just examine the cache contents. Thanks for getting us back this direction!

Hopkins Marine Life Refuge II

By: esquimaux lovesreward ( CacheMedic - thanks!) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

The changeable weather had fewer interlopers about on the path today, so we were able to amble about and make the grab. Thanks.

The Oaks

By: coyforce Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This seemed like a nice stop between our travels in Seaside and our next travels in Marina. We forgot all our hiking equipment this weekend, and so were unfortunately reduced to "cleaning" up the area of our unfound caches that we didn't need to hike to get to. I had a travelling geocoin that needed a safe but easily accessible place to hang out until someone could come pick it up, so here it goes... I couldn't figure out what the nearby area is used for, except being a sort of random place for people to park. TFTC.

ISM SEM treasure (We've moved!)

By: ravnmerc Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Interesting park. Good luck with the cache.

Monterey Cypress Roundabout.

By: 2frenchgirls Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Thanks for replacing the cache. We finally had a free day in Monterey that we couldn't fill with a nice long hike, so it was off to PG, Seaside and Marina. TFTC.

Imjin Pipeline

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Just as advertised, a nice lil quickie! Thanks.

Electric Kiss

By: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

This was my fifth time back to the cache, but my third actually "'getting up close and personal". No one around this afternoon, Geo Baby taking a nap, and me with grungy clothes and a flashlight, so you'd think I would have found it. Nope. After about a half hour, I drew blood and gave up. I'm tempted to put this one on the ignore list, since even WalruZ can't seem to re-find it, but maybe I'll be able to wrangle LeChuck for one last attempt.

Wind in the Cattails

By: bullit mickeychopchop Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

It was fairly busy out here today around lunch time, but not as busy as one might expect for a holiday Monday. There were a lot of people just enjoying the excellent weather, sunny and breezy, from their cars. Geo Baby and I went for a stroller ride around the area today, and picked this one up after doubling-back from the multi. Thanks for the caches out here!

Alviso Marina -- Nature and History Walk

By: bullit Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

This was the destination cache today for Geo Baby and I on holiday to Alviso. We really enjoyed strolling around the area to collect the cache information as well as few other tidbits for other nearby caches. By the time we arrived back at the car, Geo Baby was totally zonked out and I wasn't sure if I could get her back in the car seat without waking her. Turns out I couldn't, which sort of made the rest of the afternoon a bit of a challenge. Thanks for the nice multi!

Two Wades

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Okay, I feel really really really really really really lame. I found the cache. I started to sign the log. My pen wasn't writing. I heard toddler starting to fuss from the backseat. I grab everything and turn around to sign the log with a different pen in the car and see what was up with the toddler (and her binky). At the car, I sign the log and go to put it all back together and I couldn't find the base of the cache container. It was gone. I searched the car. I retraced my steps. I searched the grass. I cursed. The baby cursed (in her language). I went back to offer more goldfish crackers to the baby. I looked some more. I finally gave up, went to the Alviso playground, then drove back with a more tired Geo Baby to look some more. I did everything all over again. I couldn't find it. Finally, I realized I just wasn't going to find it. I don't own any biso n tubes, but I put the remainder of the cache and log in a ziploc (which I do carry in the car) and put it back in its hiding spot. I've asked WalruZ to contribute a new bison tube tomorrow morning on his way to work. I know he's got one somewhere. I'm really sorry. I shouldn't try to do more caching than I know can be done with Geo Baby in tow. It distracts me...

What's on Second

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Geo Baby and I frequent a nearby member-only warehouse store fairly often, but haven't managed to find a time when some big-rig truck or another wasn't camped out! This morning we were driving by and noticed another one, so we passed. On our way back home this evening, though, it looked like we were in luck! Thanks for the puzzle!

High-Rise Neighbors

By: zapboy Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This has been in my solved list for some time, and today we were sort of nearby fixing Geo Baby's cache (and playing) and I happened to notice that this one was within a do-able distance even though I had not planned to go for it. With Geo Baby all nice and tired out after visiting the playground, and thus her caching siren at rest, I had a reasonable chance to search for the cache. Thanks!

Olive

By: Quetzalteco Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Beautiful day on Angel Island today. We went up the hard way, but sometimes that's the most rewarding. Log is full - we didn't pack in any maintenance supplies other than WalruZ' container...

Yes, Fire Works

By: BKip Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

We stopped by this cache on our way down from the Mt., and WalruZ had this one in hand in a jiffy! Then it was onward to try to get back before the last Tiburon ferry left! Thanks for the cache.

lunch stump

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

We already had our lunch at the top, so we could prolong our enjoyment of the view, but thanks for the little diversion on the way down!

what do you got?

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

LeChuck and I got to the area first, and gave it a good going-over before resorting to the hint. After that narrowed it down a bit, it was just a matter of time... Thanks!

Mount Caroline Livermore

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

What a great day to be out on the Isle! This was our destination cache, as well as our superb (and quite popular) lunch spot. I got up here with LeChuck before the big container swap-out and so added a few valuable items. Launching a travelling Motogrrl geocoin here, as I think she would have dug the spot and the weather! Geo Baby and I also figured out what we were going to do with Marky and Joani's balloon racer coin here, so it is making a quick stop too! TFTC, and here's to coming back and getting a few more done!

"Juanita's Landing"

By: WRITE SHOP ROBERT Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

We were parked nearby, so this was the last of the day between our return ferry and heading down 101. Thanks for a great day out on Angel Island!

Pimiento

By: WRITE SHOP ROBERT Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Retrieved cache on a beautiful day on the Bay. The weather on Angel Island, as probably in most of the Bay Area, was just superb. We made a nice day of it, not too many caches and not too few. We were sorta worried about making that last ferry out, but all was well in the end. Geo Baby is zonked out from all the excitement. Let me know if you would like me to send the log from the cache back to you. TFTC!

aDORAble

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

Just needed a little boost up to find this one, thanks. Didn't see the geocoin in the cache, and I pawed through all the things in order to dump the water at the bottom out...

Stuffed Bike Cache

By: momagna Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I hope that for our next time out on the island, we'll be able to bring our bikes and the bike trailer for Geo Baby. Actually, what I'm really hoping is that we can camp here, but I think Geo Baby needs to be a little older for that. I had a great time on the island today, it just seemed a bit short. This was one of our last caches, and we were in a bit of a hurry to make some ground to the ferry, but this one couldn't be passed by! thanks!

Crack Me Up

By: momagna with kdcool919 Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I really like caches I can get with the baby in the backpack while on my back! Thanks for that!

keep your chin up

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 4.5 Container: Small

Yeah, I filter out at 4.5* to get rid of all those da** kayak caches that I've no way to get to. I don't know I'd call this one a 5* since no special equipment is required -- in fact lack of equipment (I won't say what) might be more of the requirement. 'Course I didn't actually go get it, so I think maybe I'll shut up now...

Rock Crusher

By: momagna Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Another cache that I could actually do all by myself with Geo Baby on my back. Yea! We were a little ahead of the group, so although they were a little worried about making the last Ferry, I had a bit of time to stop and grab this cache on the way. Thanks!

Picnic Photo Opp

By: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Geo Baby and I made it up here quite a few minutes before we caught sight of the WalruZ puffing up, and so I had already made a mental list of all the places that I wanted checked. You see, Geo Baby is like 25 pounds now, and we were towards the end of our day, and there was no way I was doing all that looking under and behind and whatnot with her on my back! It was hard enough walking with her since she insisted on putting her head down to sleep right behind my neck... Although he was worried about the Ferry, WalruZ graciously checked the places I asked and we came up with it reasonably quickly. I think we signed our initials over some names, but you know how these containers are regarding maintenance. Oh, yeah, log is full.

Runaway Train

By: fox-myers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I've always liked this neighborhood, with the feel of being tucked back behind Niles Canyon road and the hills, and I thought this was a simple-but-elegant hide. I hope they are able to complete this project -- it doesn't look like the smoothest bike ride as it is now! Left a travelling Geocoin; didn't see the Zoo Key TB in the cache. TFTC.

Year of the Dog

By: saopaulo1@hotmail.com Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The former cache was apparently here and gone in a blink of an eye (or at least within the latency of my caching outings). WalruZ had come to find that one, but I wasn't along with him that day. This afternoon we decided to scrap our initial plans to take a bike ride, and did a couple errands instead. Since we were driving around UC and Fremont anyway, we decided to stop for the ones in the neighborhood. Geo Baby sauntered out at only a speed that she can accomplish, and we all looked around the area. WalruZ came up with it first. Thanks.

Dark Park

By: speedhawk13hs Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

So the Superbowl was just starting and Geo Baby was constantly saying "bye-bye" and tugging at her jacket hanging on the back of the chair. So, we went for a walk to get the mail. Then we went out on the porch, but WalruZ had some concrete creations in a state of limbo there. So, we go back inside and Geo Baby starts up with the "bye-bye" again in a tantrumishy sort of way. I couldn't really blame her since she's been stuck in the house with a cold for 3 days. I chose this cache since it was pretty close and had a playground advertised. Looks like a busy cache today, but the area was pretty quiet. Geo Baby and I stayed a while; she enjoyed walking around the sidewalk and examining rocks, and crawling around on the suspension bridge. TFTC.
