LeChuck's Medusean Treasure

By: LeChuck Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Arrrgh, yer matey 'as swapped out fer a mo' seaworthy container e'en tho' the cache she be landlocked! Future adventurers should remain warned, I spied a large stony bovine... dint move an inch whilst I did my deed! Tha' Medusa is sure to be near, methinks!

Round Top

By: Alamogul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

Neat place, I had never been to Sibley before. Geo Baby was a little under the weather today, so I was looking for a nice short loop hike we could do in about 2 hours to get her out in the fresh air without pushing her too hard. Up until an inopportune DNF search on a subsequent cache, I think she really had a great time!

Sibley Rock

By: rparriot (original by Keith & Deborah) Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Great weather for this hike today! I was out for a hike with BKT, carrying a very sleepy Geo Baby in the backpack. We were a little put off by the EBRPD signs by the cattle gate, are those new? Dropped a couple TBs, didn't see any others to take, but I didn't dig all the way down, either. Thanks!

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #38

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Last time I was here, as I recall, Geo Baby was just a glimmer in your eye and a bout of nausea in my stomach. Anyway, she wasn't breathing air quite yet. Today she really enjoyed running down the pier and quacking with the duckies. It was the first time that she saw and realized that there were actual real-life duckies that quacked (not just pictures and toys that we call d uckies)! It was a kick. She even was cooperative enough to walk to the cache site and back with me, without wandering off in an inappropriate direction... Cache was just as I remembered it. TFTC.

Ain't No Water Up Here

By: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

It is an absolutely gorgeous day to hike Levin today. This was my destination cache today, in fact my only cache since it's getting late in the afternoon now. I had such a nice hike up and performed some maintenance for LeChuck, but also was inspired to drop a puzzle cache somewhere nearby... Launching a CA poppy micro geocoin here. Thanks!

Selwyn Park

By: howeler Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Well, I won't argue with you that it isn't a nice neighborhood. It doesn't seem to be a very nice park with all the trash around. I had a ready-made cover story for the gardeners working across the street with all the trash I was picking up. I disposed of 4 40oz malt liquor bottles and the containers from someone's TGIFriday's appetizer while searching the immediate hinted area. The first hint indicated that I should search 4 possible structures in the area, and the second hint indicates that I should search 2 different structures in the area, so I divided my time searching all six. I had a feeling that I was looking for one of those painted evil M & J magnetic nanocaches, but after a half an hour and the first sweep of the police car around Selwyn drive I decided that I wasn't having much fun anymore. Monday mid-morning was definitely going to be the best time to search for this, so I really hated giving up today. I may return, if I get desperate enough to "clean" my home map.

hey look.. a rock

By: howeler Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I went out with just the waypoint, but ended up needing to read the description before I zeroed in on the spot. It seems there is a little, long-tailed friend guarding the cache here. Thanks.

Zomax #1

By: Zoe and Maxwell Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I wasn't sure I was supposed to go where the arrow was pointing me, but I found the cache nonetheless. There weren't any signs indicating who the land belonged to or whether public access was permitted, so I suppose if questioned I could feign ignorance. The gardener rode by and looked at me pretty strangely so I just waved like I belonged there. Thanks for the cache!

Coffee Anyone #4

By: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Ah, yes. It was a little far to go for my morning Starbucks fix, but I also got a smiley out of the deal... Thanks!

Calle Oriente Park

By: howeler Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

All quiet in the area this morning! Thanks.

So Goes Milpitas

By: howeler Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

So, it seems that Milpitas is going to the ticks from my experience with this cache. No matter, I think I caught all the little buggers before I got back in the car. Monday morning seems to be a good time to search for this one. Thanks!

This Stop: Arleta!

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This morning I had zipped through the area of stage 1 on bicycle and didn't know it was a multi and that I only needed information at that area. There were a lot of people outside the building, and more were parking, presumably for both the building and the walking trail. There was also construction of the nearby house and workers at the site for that. So, I decided that we wouldn't bother with a search having all those eyes about. We came back later after the event, and that's when we realized it was a multi and all those people from this morning were inside the building for some event. With a little reading out loud and some calculations, we were off to the final. Thanks!

Journey to the Moon

By: vaccine Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Our first stop today on our caching day in Half Moon Bay before the event. We were seranaded by the fire department as we were finishing up with the cache. I guess they had someplace important to be. Thanks!

Peninsula UnEvent Event

By: vaccine & mjp303 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

Yay for events! I typically come across the bay to see the peninsula folks and do a little caching now and then, but thanks for getting us to go over those hills for the party! We had the opportunity to try out Geo Baby's newish bike trailer (okay, well really she tried it out while we rode bikes) and snag a few caches on the way to and from the event. We were very lucky it seems to have both our tickets win prizes in the raffle -- the Hawai'i microcoin is even prettier in person, and we'll put that decon container to good use soon I'm sure. I enjoyed seeing both the n ew and familiar faces today, and letting Geo Baby and LeChuck roam around a bit -- each in their own and very different ways. TFTE!

Movie: GeoTales, Believe it or Not

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I had solved this one when it first came out, but as with most puzzles, I tend to wait until I'm in the area before happening on by to log the cache. Today we were around for the event, so I dragged WalruZ, Lechuck and Geo Baby to retrieve this cache with me. I enjoyed the comedy and loved the location. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOESPAZ - Last Chance To Party

By: joespaz Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

It was nice to see ol' Joe again, although we were somewhat fatigued after the day's events across the Bay. Happy Birthday and good luck with your new endeavor!

Ocean View Park

By: vaccine Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This one appeared to get a lot of action today, according to the noncaching folks that were sitting on the bench and laughing at us as we walked up to the cache site. Apparently we were the third set of strange folks they'd seen scamper up to the area without much reason to be there, but they'd had a nice conversation with the cacher just prior to our arrival and so they were informed enough to make themselves a humorous peanut gallery. Luckily I was able to find it pretty quickly after letting my hands go a few different suspect locations, while WalruZ had a laugh with them about stealth techniques. Unfortunately Geo Baby was indisposed for playing by the time we came to this cache -- she was all tuckered out from the event. TFTC.

Whimsical Wonders (HMB)

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

We hit this cache pretty early on in the day of Half Moon Bay eventing and caching. Geo Baby and I drew a buttermingo, and then handed off to Lechuck and then WalruZ to do their drawings. I ended up adding eyes after the full buttermingo was finished, so it looks sort of creepy. We also ran into sdarken (not literally, though) at the cache site. Always nice to see cachers in the wild -- although I'm not sure wild is the right word for the festivities that occurred later. thanks!

Ask Mr Whyte

By: vaccine Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was fairly fatigued after chasing Geo Baby around at the event and a short morning of caching, but WalruZ had managed to socially-engineer the solution to this cache and so it was one of our stops on what appeared to be our way home. Of course, after stopping for this cache we had a few others that we might as well do, and hey, Geo Baby was already sacked out in her seat... Funny how an informal day of caching sort of rolls into an undertaking all its own, eh?. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache!

Chameleon Horse

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

We were headed on our way out of Half Moon Bay toward home, and just couldn't resist the stops for caches. I think that if Geo Baby hadn't been so tuckered out from the event, we might have had to stay here much longer. There was lots of interesting stuff to look at, and although she's too small for the pony rides I know that she'd be interested after seeing the horses on the bike path this morning! I interrupted the Rogue Ramblers with the cache, and this was not to be the last time on the way home... TFTC.

Vista Point - Bermuda Triangle

By: vaccine Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was walking to the cache site and wondered "wait, haven't I done this cache already? I think I've been here before, more than once, even. Why would it be in my GPSr? " I couldn't answer any of those questions, so I just went with it and walked with the Rogue Ramblers out to the site. Maybe we should outfit the cache with a beacon of some sort, then perhaps we'd see where all the other caches went... Thanks!

Beach Ave

By: vaccine Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was our turn-around point to get back to the Event location in time for the start of festivities. WalruZ did the honors while I tried to keep Geo Baby happy with snacks (that she promptly dumped out all over the inside of the bike trailer). Thanks for the cache!

Legend of the Blue Pearls: Lost Souls

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

So, I think we were expecting a nice wide bike trail, and ended up bumping Geo Baby over some non-trailer-friendly terrain on the way to this cache, and then trying to find the paved trail after this cache (I think we did a more expedient job during our return trip...). I was able to find this cache in short order, but we opted to return to the Beginning and make sure we didn't miss a secondary clue in the cache. Onward!

Legend of the Blue Pearls: The Beginning

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I knew there was a reason I married the WalruZ (okay, there was more than one reason...). I walked right by this about 4 times and he just zipped on over and figured it all out. We had the bikes out and Geo Baby in her brand new (for her) bike trailer, and were a bit confused as to where the paved trail was going to be. More on that later... Thanks for the cache!

A Test

By: Rogue Ramblers Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

We had run into the cache owners enough times while on our way back home from the Half Moon Bay event, so we were primed to go and get this cache afterwards. I had solved it a little while ago and, as is my usual MO, waited until I was in the area to search out the cache. Well, we weren't really in the area, per se, but we could effectively detour to it easily, and anyway, Geo Baby was just waking up. She really enjoyed getting out of her seat, offering both cover for us (I guess the sight of the four of us walking to that area chased off a neighbor kid) and a diversion for LeChuck. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache!

Electric Fields

By: NavySparksandtheMrs Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

There was some sort of gathering of cars parked erratically with their owners all chatting away. I jumped out of the car while WalruZ tried to figure out where he was going to park it, and then the Rogue Ramblers came upon me. It was sort of surreal... Thanks!

S.F. Cable Car - California & Drumm

By: Gumlung Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

After some help from the cache owner, I saw the error of my ways and was able to verify that this cache is indeed in the hinted location on my way to BART after work. Thanks!

S.F. Cable Car - California & Drumm

By: Gumlung Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I tried again today after getting off BART on my way to work, no luck. I think I must be cursed. Maybe I should stop caching...

S.F. Cable Car - California & Drumm

By: Gumlung Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I was prepared to try for this one both before and after my work meeting today, but it seemed that both times I was there, the hinted area was blocked by numerous Production Assistants and camera equipment. They were hanging Christmas decorations, too...

City Stairway - Oakhurst

By: rosmo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I came by after attending a talk at the nearby institution and partaking of a "working lunch" with colleagues. I gave myself a half an hour to ferret this 1.5 star out, but only managed to draw blood a few times while moving the foliage near the specified step count during that time...

Ant Farm

By: javawriter Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was a busy spot for cachers today, apparently. I don't remember the skate park, but I remember frequenting the bowling alley while in high school. TFTC!

Jolly Micro

By: The Petoskey Stones Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

When my GPSr decided on a spot, it only took a bit of checking between park patrons before I landed the cache. Good thing, because the hint makes absolutely no sense to me, even after looking at possible transformations -- is that some sort of inside joke that only cachers living in Santa Clara County know? TFTC.

Life before Windows

By: JMunch Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Cool GC number for this particular cache! WalruZ is the resident expert on this particular type of puzzle, so he did the heavy lifting and I was out with him on the drive. I navigated us to the obvious spot, and it still took us more than several minutes to have it in hand. Blended in with the weather today, it did! Thanks.

Huckleberry Hill

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I don't think we've ever been on this trail in the daytime! I know that the (more than one) time we found ourselves in this neck of the woods, we were a little turned around as to what cache we were looking for and where we were supposed to be looking for it. My noncaching, daytime travels through the Preserve have typically ended up taking a trail to the NW rather than straight W. Thanks for the hike!

This Rocks!

By: X-ray Tech Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

This would have been a great spot for lunch -- if we had remembered to bring any! We did this set of caches without any water, even. Great walk and great place for a cache, thanks.

Stairway To The Stars

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

It's always a good day when you can come out and hike Huckleberry Hill. I, for one, enjoy doing those steps. It reminds me of how hard I thought the climb was on my first time doing "The Hill" about 8 years ago. Anyway, I would much prefer to get the cardio workout than climb a fence...TFTC.

bullseye

By: Pippinspaw Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

Yeah, in a month or two, cachers will need hazmat outfits (and/or machetes) to get to the cache site. The growth is new and encroaching quickly up here. I'll have to work out a better and more oak-oriented laundry system for this year, it seems... Thanks for the cache.

above chalk rock

By: Pippinspaw Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

I had pretty much given up, having searched all the hinted areas and then some. Turns out, the new sprigs of poison oak had dissuaded me from really checking the necessary area well enough. We went to find the next cache and return later, when WalruZ, in all his persistence, made the find. Of course, he sat right down next to a nice 3-leafy bush to do his thing with the log... Laundry-time!

Esuoh Srehtomdnarg Ot

By: Pippinspaw Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

I have a hide a lot like this about a hundred miles north of here. Although WalruZ did some really weird stuff to try an alternate retrieval route, after a while I was rested enough to do what was intended to get close to the cache. He beat me there anyway, by about 4 feet, but it was a really nice hide! Thanks.

Peninsula Overlook

By: sandychell Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

We enjoy this park a lot, although there are more than enough trails to keep one occupied from 11 am to 5 pm. This parking area is always appreciated though! Thanks for marking it with a cache.

Coffee Anyone #4

By: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Knew what I was looking for, and (eventually) had the opportunity to really scrutinze things, but it didn't appear to be this day. WalruZ insisted that he could find it again, so he jumped out too, but couldn't get it either. Hmmm.....

Inca Gold: Necklace of Tears

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I came back today to the base of Mission Peak with the family in order to finish up the caches we had to pass by due to darkness and various soreness issues. This spot seems to be quite near the home of some friendly lizards, no doubt having charged themselves with the care of the artifact!

Eucalyptustream

By: california-jones Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Out with the family today on a little jaunt around the base of Mission Peak Regional Preserve to pick up the caches that I had to walk by last Sunday due to darkness and soreness (did the Levin to Mission hike). This was a nice easy find in the daylight, both of them; I don't know how we would have fared in the dark last week...

Just Calaveras

By: Dynamic Duet Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

So, it might not have been quite as fun in the Jeep as some other car I could think of *cough*bullit*cough*, but most of the other cars that we saw on the roadway were just as big as us (if not bigger). I remember, waaaaaaay back in the day, taking my little MG Midget out on roads just like this for fun. Of course, with the dashboard never working, I always had to make sure I had a full tank of gas before going out, or I'd be coasting downhill in neutral to make it to a gas station. Ah, the memories! Anyway, the cache, yes, the cache: WalruZ seemed to be ignoring the obvious spots, so I got to it. TFTC.

Maya Silver: Encounter

By: WalruZ & GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

We happened to be by the corral, looking for Mayans to scatter about, but all we saw were their ferocious cows. I noted the sketch in a manner appropriate to one not prepared for such an expedition, and will come back to follow Isabelle's writings another day. Perhaps another cooler day...

Inca Gold

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

My journey is over. It didn't take as long as some, and I found that perhaps I did it slightly out of order at the detriment of the story -- or at least I did a couple of those caches when not at full mental capacity last weekend, and needed some prodding to remember how to calculate the coords for the final. Nice area and lots of swag to trade for. TFTseries!

Inca Gold: Atahualpa

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

If the other cache was being guarded by friendly lizards today, this cache was being sentried by a herd of cattle, that weren't entirely high on the friendly meter. The bull seemed a bit put off by my walking close to his "ladies", and the cows seemed a little nervous with me talking to their calves. Of course, it really wasn't my intention to have them talk to a stranger, but what can I help it if they didn't teach them that yet... Anyhow, nice spot for the cache. Swapped a Diabetes TB for a Green Jeep. On to the final!!

Yeah, so I did Trifecta for my La Costa Quad last weekend, but hey, you can never have too many, eh? Hello, Allison

By: blscearce Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I hit this cache with the second group of marchers today. It was at least a terrain 4 coming from Levin and going offtrail from where we did to get to it. Once there, we had a blast listening to the frogs croaking loudly at the pond we could see below the cache site. The cows even seemed to be joining in the merry music with a "moo" here and there. We weren't sure how to approach this cache, and probably did not choose the most reasonable method, as we cross-countried over-down-and up a small ridge before getting there. We might have been in the restricted area doing so, but it was really hard to tell where those areas began and ended with the EBRPD signs. There were 4 of us at the site, and 2 people had great coords (15 feet or better) while 2 had really bad coords (90 feet?!?). Must be those tower-things getting in the way of the satellites...

Man on a Mission

By: blscearce Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

We approached Mission Peak from the Levin side, in one big march for the day. Our group ended up going on some little teensy weensy game trail to save having to stare that rather drastic elevation change in the face just prior to getting to the cachesite. That was pretty unnerving, but I managed to suck it up and not look down. Thanks for the hike!

Inca Gold: Last Words

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

The cache title reminds me of the Monty Python scene (Holy Grail) where they're reading the cave wall to find out that they have to go to the Castle Aaaaaaarrrrrggggghhhh. I'm not entirely sure why. Those weren't someone's last words in the movie, but I just can't get it out of my head when I hear the cache page. Anyhow, I was watching out for ferocious rabbits with big nasty teeth, and I was dog tired by the time we got to this cache. My knees were not very happy, but I was pushed on by the promise of more artifacts. We wouldn't be able to complete the series before it got too dark, so I'm really hoping that the photos we took of the artifacts we did find are good!! TFTC.

Silicon Valley View

By: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Because of the trail double-backing a bit, I was expecting to pass by another cache before this one, so I think SammyDee and were close to walking right by it! Luckily we figured it out before it was time to make the detour. Beautiful weather up in Levin and Mission Peak today, so the view from here in the late morning was pretty spectacular! TFTC.

Monument Peak

By: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

Ah, to finally be up at the first peak of the day!!! We caught up to the other marching group here as they were finishing up their lunch and waiting to say hi. The next time we saw them, it was at a great distance -- we were at Allison and saw the gaggle of cachers making their way up Mission! It was amazing to be up there today; it certainly gives you a great perspective on the South Bay. TFTC.

Trifecta

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Not chosen

This was a great hike to and between all three peaks. It is a different thing to say to yourself, when you're sitting in your car in traffic on 880, that you have walked that entire thing you can see up there . Of course, there's payment to be had for such a hike, but I'm glad to pay that (ask me again tomorrow and we'll see if you get the same answer). When we got to the cache site, there were puzzled looks all around, as the cache did not appear to be where we expected. But then I walked over, looking puzzled myself, and realized that there was just no excuse for me to have taken that long to identify the cache. I mean, really! I launched a new motogrrl coin here. She would have dug this view, and had been working towards making this hike a reality before leaving us. Allison won for me -- saying "Hello" kicked my butt worse than Monument or Mission (maybe that's cuz I was already tired by then...).

Spawning Ground

A whole new school done been spawned! Those fishys must have been real busy lately up on Mission Peak, if you know what I mean...

Why?

Light was waning and my water was just about gone, so I didn't spend the kind of time here that I might have otherwise. I enjoyed the artwork. Thanks.

Well, your eyes may be burned and screamed, but that is what my knees feel like after this trip! What a great hike -- this was our first stop after ascending the initial Levin elevation. I hadn't quite found my groove yet, but sometimes that's the way the wind turns. The ship is a-sailing on this cache though, and I thought it right rude to replace it with the smallish things I had in me pack... We'll need to let out from port soon to get something a little more hearty in sea-air stashed away here.

Second Hand Rose

I was among the second set of "Marchers" today to come and find this cache. Surprisingly, it took quite a while for all of us to spot it! I've been meaning to come to Levin and look around for some time now, thanks for placing the very convenient parking area/trailhead cache!

Alamo Peak

By: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

Well, I can't necessarily say the view at Alamo Peak is of the same magnitude as at Monument Peak, but there were no snakes out today so that was good! We hit this cache on our way down from Monument Peak after lunch. Thus started a nice rolling walk along a very pleasant trail!

I've never been one that was into aviation, at least not in the hobbyist form -- just in the get a ticket and stand in line way -- so I was amazed to think that a plane would have wrecked in this particular spot. It doesn't seem like it was very "open", but I guess you wouldn't be able to control something like that if you were having issues with an engine in the air. The hike up from Levin was great, with wonderful and slightly breezy weather in the morning, and our group (we were the second one there that day) enjoyed looking around at the artifacts that remain. Thanks!

Stealth? Oh, yeah, stealth. I think there were enough bodies at this one to scare off any curious non-cachers from checking on things after we left! Thanks.

Ahh, a cache that gives new meaning to the word "hunt"...

Backside of Mission Peak

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

On the start of the downward spiral... I had gone through my entire camelbak + one small plastic bottle of water by the time we were sitting up at the sighting tubes and I was trying to suck nothing out of my backpack. So, I figured that one plastic bottle would manage downhill just fine. All I can say is that it was a good thing it was cool in the evening tonight, because even so I would have liked to have another bottle after I finished my last one. From Mission Peak, our merry band of marchers crossed over to this cache site, eager for another find and the start of the downhill, and found it in relatively short order. TFTC.

Bone Tree

Chugging right along in the "Sunday Hikers" group, we scared off the largest gaggle of turkeys (or whatever it is they're called) just before coming onto this cache site. Seems that I heard later someone (or two) counted them at 89, or was that 86? No matter, it seemed like a hundred to me, all shuffling through the leaves to get out of our way. Two larger and more ornate males went a bit slower than the skinner females, but it was certainly a sight to see all those birds. Knowing the hider, and his sense of humor, this became a quick spot for most of the Marching band I was in... Thanks!

Inca Gold: Stairway to the Sky

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Our last cache of the evening, as light was waning. We thought we might be able to do another of the series, but by the time we got to the point to leave the trail for the next down the road, the beam of my little led flashlight wasn't helping to distinguish the terrain well enough for my tired ankles to keep upright. So, this was to be it. I noted the artifact accordingly and will come back another day to finish it off! Thanks...

Groovy Rock Concert

The rolling trek along the ridge from Monument to Mission was incredible today, as the weather was so cooperative! This cache made for a nice stop during the calm portion of our hike from Levin to Stanford Trailhead. We certainly had hit our "groove" by the time we approached this groovy cache (maybe had something to do with spending some time with lunch at Monument Peak -- yowsa) ! Thanks!

Hawk's Picnic

By: Marky & Fizzy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was a bit of an offshoot on our planned route, but hey, it was still reasonably early in our day of hiking, the feet were feeling find, and one could see from the next ridge over that this was a good place to go! We didn't stay as long as I might have likes, since we needed to get back on path so that we didn't make the "fast" hikers ( I was in the going-for-a-Sunday-Hike bunch) wait too long at Monument Peak. TFTC!

Inca Gold: The Fifth Sun

Our little merry band of marchers were getting a bit tired after making our way over here from Levin, so we almost hiked right by this one. Fortunately, Sammydee noticed before we lost too much elevation and we were off. It was already getting close to sunset, so I wasn't sure that we'd be able to finish the series, but we wanted those artifacts, darn it!! Thanks for the cache!

I was scouting out this area to see where good 24hour parking was to be found for our upcoming trek in Levin. This seemed like a convenient place to check out. Cache could use some TLC, the log was barely signable. Thanks.

Geo Baby and I were out for a tour of Milpitas playgrounds today. We had a good time walking to this one, via the toddler playground... Thanks!

Horse Tail

I had a sneaking suspicion of the hiding place as I drove up and so went straight for it. I figured that it wasn't really safe to stand around on that side of the street, so I grabbed the cache and dashed back to the car. As I did that, a woman was driving by staring at me, then pulled over and sat in her car just about 30 feet ahead of mine. Well, I've got Geo Baby in the back of the car, so I can stall for as long as the best of them -- no muggle can outlast me! I did the trade stuff, signed the log, gave the baby some milk and snacks, found her pacifier, etc. Finally, the woman did a U-turn and drove off. It may have been a geocacher, but then I would have expected her to come on over and say hi. Anyhow, dropped a travelling geocoin. Thanks!

Jumps & Shaun.... All Gone...

By: howeler Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

After waiting for Geo Baby to wake up from her nap, finish eating her lunch (apparently she likes to take nice leisurely long lunches on weekends), and chasing after a very nice kitty-cat that was hanging around, we finally got to the cache site. I got a chance to look around while she investigated the running water nearby, and found the cache as advertised. Thanks!

I looked around for a bit where I expeced a micro cache to be, but didn't come up with it right away. Geo Baby was enjoying herself examining the ground, so I looked at what she was doing and found the cache there. Didn't seem to be where it was intended, so I put it back as best I could imagine it belonged. The log is totally full and the back isn't all that happy with normal ballpoint pen, so I signed over the "Geocache log" title at the very beginning. The log really needs to be replaced.
