Rush

By: Geo Fan Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

WalruZ and I both worked on the solution to this one, but today I found myself in the area and so decided to make the find without him. I'm sure he'll enjoy coming on his own time anyway. I always had a soft spot for Red Barchetta growing up. The log is pretty damp, you may want to devise something a bit smaller and ziplocked for that container style. To avoid disturbing the municipal authorities, you also might want to put a geocaching marking on it somewhere as inconspiciously as you can make it with the hide -- part of the story is at: http://www.thegba.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1369 & start=0

Indian Montage

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I had wanted to finish this final cache up with Geo Baby, as we've been slowly completing the series since I was on maternity leave, but after our last trip out to get #s 2 and 3 I looked over at where the final was likely to reside and decided that I didn't want to carry the now > 30 lb Geo Baby there, and I didn't think I could get her to walk it. Today I came back on my own, since I have a nice relaxed morning before hitting some work at home, and found the cache. I kept having to remind myself that this isn't snake season, because the hide site looked like a great rattler condo! Maybe not this close to the Bay, though... Thanks for maintaining this great series!

Nathan's State of Mind

By: runnerfam Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I had a little extra time this evening before heading home, and so I thought I'd brave the parking issues and find this cache. SFSU has a very nice campus, particularly when the weather out this way is nice! Good luck to Nathan in his studies -- may it be a State of mind that suits him! Taking Albert Jr. to move along on his mission. Thanks for the cache (#2700 for me).

Bag a Cache

By: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Coords seemed to flip around quite a lot here, but I managed to spot it just as I decided that I'd outlasted my time period for the area. I was surprised things were as dry inside as they were with all the recent rain! That container must be pretty water-resistant... Thanks for the cache.

Shocking

By: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I spotted this cache relatively quickly, but had a bugger of a time getting it open for whatever reason. Then, after employing my trusty Leatherman to open the lid, I had more of a bugger of a time getting it to close, to the point where it was bent a little bit. Sorry about that... I eventually called WalruZ out of the car and made him go do it. He got it to close but you may want to check up on it. Thanks for the cache.

Labeled Cache

By: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Not too many muggles out in the rain today, which was a good thing since WalruZ felt the need to get on his poncho in order to hunt for the cache. This was our last cache of the day before heading over to "borrow" some toys for Geo Baby, and so she was more than ready to finish our caching expedition! We didn't avail ourselves of the labels, but swapped some small toys. Thanks for the cache.

For Your Eyes Only

By: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Interesting hiding spot, one wonders just how that sort of thing happens to such a structure? I remember back in the day when this building housed a Glendale Savings and Loan; I opened an account there with my first paycheck. I "see" that the Winchell's across the parking lot is gone too, oh well... Thanks for the cache.

Planet Granite

By: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I came home yesterday and re-read the previous logs to determine the search space. I was out with the family today in the area picking up some Little People from a friend and made everyone come with me to pick this cache up in the rain. Thanks for the cache.

Ivy meets wood

By: alpharomero.com, adopted by yTKa Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

A couple decades ago this was one of the parks that I worked at as a daycamp leader. I was glad to revisit the area, although for a rainy day there was lots of foot traffic on the nearby path! Signed the crisp, clean logsheet and dropped a TB. Thanks for the replacement!

Here Kitty Kitty Kitty

By: Somethings Fishy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Not doing any business here on Sunday afternoon, which was better for us since the kid was in the car too. thanks for the cache.

a ROUND Up and Under

By: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was out and aROUND this morning, and found this one surprisingly quickly. Thanks for the nice crisp and clean log sheet to sign!

Battles of the Arachnoids

By: adeshais Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I've had the final location for this one for quite some time, after having "cleared out" the areas at each stage over the last year or so. Today, I found myself driving by on this brisk but dry Saturday morning and thought "hey, this would be an excellent time to do this final!". So I did. Thanks for the cache!

Planet Granite

By: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Well, I looked around for what I thought the container was, and even tentatively stuck my hands in some places that were a little nasty, but I just won't stick my hands inside an electrical pole with live wires inside. So, thinking that I exhausted all the safe search spots, I decided a DNF was preferable...

Jdsinger ?s Fairoaks Park

By: jdsinger Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I suppose that I actually could have searched for this last time I was here, but the arrow said I couldn't C'est la vie. Got it this morning. Thanks for the cache.

Margaret's Bridge

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I had a great hike with the group today, and would have walked right by this fresh meat if not for geokashers having the coords. I guess I run my PQs for a hike a little too early, eh? I was off bashing around the woods looking around my zero while Justin found the cache and everyone pawed through the contents. Always a little late to the party, I guess... Thanks for the cache.

Thompson's Bench Overlook

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Ahhh, the West Ridge Trail. Bit exposed, it is. Gets kinda muddy with no redwood leaves to sop it all up, it does. Shortly before our arrival, I was forced to don the poncho again, and for the next two hours I will waste precious daylight taking it off and putting it on and taking it off and finally just leaving it on. After visiting this cache I was glad to have it on, though, as we were greeted with hail from the skies! Thanks for the cache.

West Ridge Trail Camp

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I was with the group that headed directly down to this cache from the overlook, and so it was still nice and light to search for this cache, and even dry. Our splinter group included Touchstone, Swift Eagle, Hotshoe, Mixt Nuts, Krazy Monky, and myself. There's no beating three young lads to regular sized caches with plenty of swag in them, though, so by this time in the hike I was serving as the arrow (since WalruZ loaned me his Yellow etrex H series and I seemed to be the only one in our group with reliable signal), just pointing the way for them to run ahead and retrieve. It was a lot of fun to cache with kids of this age, not that Geo Baby isn't becoming fun in her own way these days... Thanks for the cache.

Nisene Troll

By: Sgt Stitches and Lt Happy Camper Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I haven't cached with a poncho in the rain for years! What a great park to do it in! I was with the Touchstone group that came up from George's and did a nice loop hike of about 14 miles to pick up some caches. It was my first visit to this "hidden" park (well, I almost drove right by the entrance in the morning -- thank goodness for autorouting!), WalruZ's yellow H series etrex really did yeoman's work here, and I think this park now tops my list for places to drag the family this summer! Thanks for the cache.

Top of the Incline

By: Kealia Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Hey -- I thought this was the top! Kidding aside, this was a great holiday hike and I was so glad to be able to join the crew in the rain. The weather made it a surprisingly peaceful place, as even though our band of merrymakers was a bit noisy, the raindrops had them beat! At this cache site, we had been enjoying a few hours of dry skies and it looked like it was going to hold for a while, so lots of relaxed trading was going on and plans for lunch stops were discussed. Dropped a travelling geocoin. Thanks for the cache.

Magnificent Mill

By: Seacliff Troll Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I think this was the one cache I actually found with my own eyes today. Caching in such a big group is so much fun! We found this one during a break in the rain, although it didn't really matter since we poured out a bit of water at the bottom of the container. Thanks for the cache.

Sand Point Overlook

By: Pedaler Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Other

What a fabulous location! Our group really enjoyed our ~14 mile loop hike around Nisene Marks today -- my first time in this park, unbelievably enough. It was still dry skies at this cache, although soon after descending I was re-equipping myself with the poncho. I'm now determined to bring the family back when the rains subside (maybe we won't do this sort of elevation with the toddler though...). Dropped the last of today's travel bugs here. Thanks for placing this cache!

Round the Corner

By: Borgster Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

WalruZ, Geo Baby and I took a very nice (although a little crisp) walk out to this cache after a big Sunday breakfast at IHOP. Geo Baby discovered the utility and convenience of the pockets in her hoodie. We had a nice time, seeing the progress on the quarry at the toll overcrossing, lots of egrets, happy doggies and other people out getting exercise. Enjoyed the placement and traded an unactivated micro geocoin for a geopin (me) and a troll (Geo Baby). Thanks for the cache!

Quackie Quack

By: DKAK Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I was able to turn around an old DNF this morning in the presence of Geo Baby and a digitalfish. After my last visit I knew where it had to be and just needed a little assistance to spot it. Geo Baby provided good cover for the area and liked visiting the duckies. There was no logbook in the cache, so digitalfish provided a replacement from their stash. Thanks for the cache.

CCGC-MBCBP Adopt-a-Trail

By: Central Coast Geocachers of California Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I've been wanting to come out and do this cache for a few months now, but we were always cutting time a little too short with previous holiday plans to do the cache justice and in the spirit with which it was hidden. Today was WalruZ's birthday and he got to sleep in, which shortened any hiking plans that might have been bubbling up for today. So, we went out to this cache first and we could spend a little quality time with our plastic bags. The area looked deceptively clean, save for a shopping cart and a broken umbrella stroller, but as we made our way from the cache site to the Casa Verde intersection we filled up a bag each. On the way, I learned that Corona is the beer of choice for the users of the trail, with either Tecate or Heineken tied for second. Along the way, we happened upon a Highway Patrolcar hanging out in the area, and for a second I wondered if we should abort search, then I remembered that we were searching for litter to pick up and not doing the normal searching I'm so used to trying to act nonchalantly about. Didn't manage to find the sign, which was disappointing, but we did our civic duty as part of the CCGC geocaching community. Thanks for the cache!

Fore !

By: X-ray Tech Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

We were surprised to see a cache with so few finds after 9 months, but it took us a goodly amount of time to come up with the cache so I guess it is all clear to me now. I think both of us were about ready to give up when WalruZ bashed around GZ some more and figured it all out. This concluded our afternoon of caching, and then it was off to Turtle Bay for some yummy tacos before picking up Geo Baby at grandmas! Thanks for the cache.

Evolution

By: Biggeek geographer & dressage Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

Walruz and I took a little birthday afternoon hike out from the Laguna Seca area and grabbed this cache. It was all WalruZ today, which I suppose was fitting for a birthday boy. Thanks for the cache.

Near Impossible

By: X-ray Tech Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Micro

I'm not sure I'd call this one "Near Impossible" -- Near Orion, perhaps... Anyhow, we hoofed it over from Impossible and WalruZ (who was on his game today in honor of it being his birthday and all) made the grab. Thanks for the cache(s).

Impossible Cache

By: X-ray Tech Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I'm not sure that we figured out the best way to the cache, but it worked for us. WalruZ had to hit me with a clue brick before I could sign the log on this one. At first it felt very needle-in-a-haystack-like, or at least "near impossible", but on retrospect I guess it wasn't. Thanks for the cache.

Laguna Second

By: AltDotAir Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Yay me! It took some patience, but I managed to spot the cache after my third or fourth pass through the area. Nice hide and cammo. Thanks for the cache.

Off the Beaten Track

By: AltDotAir Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

Neat location! This was my first time in the Laguna Seca area, and the noise from the cars below was impressive. Nothing official was going on, it appeared that they have a Formula One racing class or something going on for off-weekends. Thanks for the hide.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Jack is Back

By: private bones Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Other

I was a finder of the Jack's Revisited cache and so I thought I might have a leg-up to find this cache, as it were, going so far as to check the original spot just in case. Oh well. I always thought it was a good area deserving of a cache, but we didn't have any luck with the new version. Sunset was wonderful, though.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Art and Stealth

By: private bones Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Finally! It was us on the bench intimidating people! Heh... Nice hide.

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Sunset and Stealth

By: private bones Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

While I've been to quite few local performances with Grandma Katie in the past, I was not familiar with this center. We perused the schedule but then decided to move on. Thanks!

Carmel-by-the-Sea: Wealth and Stealth

By: private bones Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

While we were wandering around trying to not look suspicious to the nearby shop owner, I happened upon a restaurant in the vicinity that had the best-sounding menu! I thought about what I'd read for the rest of the afternoon - Yum! Someday... Thanks for the cache.

Tickled Pink!

By: Timm and Rick Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I managed to work this in during my (all-morning) commute into work today. Nothing like having a half day left of vacation hours to ease one back into the routine. The area that the final was hidden was well worth the visit. Thanks for the cache!

Fish Guts with a View

By: Baron88 and Obsecra Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Beautiful morning in The City today, even if I'm on my way to work after vacating at home for the holidays. Thanks for the cache.

(#2 Bay Trail) Islais Landing

By: AuntFlora Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I decided to ease into the return to work today by riding around on MUNI in the morning. I had been by here before a long time ago, but the area denizens were occupying space near the cache and it was obvious our presence disturbed them. This morning the denizens were hanging out in their tent - pitched well out of eyesight of the cache - so I ambled on around and did my thing. Log is pretty damp and could use a little hair-dryer lovin'. Thanks for the cache.

The golden what ?

By: CrazyOn2Wheels Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Riding MUNI around The City this morning, in preparation for getting back to work after a longish break at home with the toddler. I walked over from the Castro and decided to huff it up the hill rather than wait for the J to take me the three blocks. Neat plaque, but as Bloo wrote the log is full and a bit raggedy and could use a little TLC. Thanks for the cache!

L-grl's Horde

By: Capt Tong & the Jungle Mock Rangers Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

When I looked out of the window this morning, it didn't look too bad outside. Kinda sunny, sorta. So, not one to have my last days of vacation ruined by weather, I roused the troops (or, maybe more correct: troup) and we prepared for an assault on the Sunnyvale-Mountain View bayland caches. Preparing the troops, however, is now a lengthy process -- especially in inclement weather conditions. By the time we had on our 3 to 4 layers of clothing, got out the door, were strapped in to our various car seats, and driving on the freeway, there was a light sprinkle starting. Still, it wasn't too bad by the time we arrived at designated parking, so we took a walk. Out to the cache and back, we greeted several hunter men and their dogs that were excited to have the wet weather to spur their prey to activity. Because that stuff is invisible (or my eyes are getting older), it took a few passes through the area to spot the cache. By the time we returned to the car from the cache site, the raindrops were slightly bigger and perhaps not going to let up. So much for finding the new Mountain View caches -- we headed to lunch and then home... Thanks for the cache and congrats to L-grl!

Just Half a Trail

Free WiFi #1

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Replaced container today with a gasketed beachsafe with a fresh geocaching.com log -- about the same size as the original container, but less likely to have those "damp log" issues. Happy holidays!

Indian Mini-Montage 3

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I think it was 2 years ago that Geo Baby and I braved the trails in a frontpack to try to complete the Indian Mini-Montage series. I have no idea why it took me so long to come back, but this morning I wanted to get a nice walk in before the wind got too blustery and the rains came down so we came here. Geo Baby, now 2.2 years old, opted for the stroller for most of the walk to this particular cache. We didn't quite complete the series today, since nap loomed large on the horizon when we achieved final coords, but at least I feel a sense of accomplishment! Dropped a travelling geocoin. Thanks.

Indian Mini-Montage 2

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Ahhh, this is the cache that caused some internal struggle for me. When I came by 2 years ago with Geo Baby, I just didn't have the energy to make the climb after the long walk around the hills and so saved it for another day. Today, with Geo Baby able to walk a bit, I came to this one first thinking we could do it, but my reasoned approach was not walkable with stroller and/or toddler, so we went off to find #3 instead. On our way back to the car, it seemed that Geo Baby was just a little impatient after the long stroller ride out and back to #3, so I suggested that she walk, and we go up the hill. Because of the weather, there weren't all that many people on the trails and so I left the stroller leaned up behind the trail signs. Although Geo Baby had to ride on my shoulders for half the walk from that point to the cache, she did a great job "hiking" and proclaimed that "I'm not a baby, I'm hiking" as we approached the cache site. Proud Mama, I am... That completes the traditional portion of the series for us, although we'll save the walk to the final in the series for a less blustery day!
