Blink and You'll Miss ItBy: GoGoJo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
Good thing Marky didn't blink! Thanks for the cache -- we managed to squeeze in some initials (but no date) right at the spine.
YumBy: zapboy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
Motorbug acted as my jedi master on this cache, otherwise I would still be sitting there getting my hands full of pokes from the bare blackberry vines! Nice cammo -- thanks for the cache!
A Digital PuzzleBy: zapboy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
We had a nice crew out to do a little wimpy hiking this morning, and this was our first stop. The log was quite wet, but we managed to scratch in our names without ripping the paper (much). Thanks for the fun puzzle!
GeoBeads #5 ? Teal TresselBy: zapboy with help from workerofwood Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
We took both the low and the high roads, at the same time since we had a nice sized group today, and as it turned out it was useful to attack the problem in this way. Thanks for the cache.
GeoBeads #8 - A Little EvilBy: zapboy with help from workerofwood Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
This was a lightning quick find for whippettx, once we got to where we were supposed to be looking! Thanks for the cache.
MiddleField MadnessBy: MadDad (maintained by bullit) Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small
Wow, we needed the full hint for this one -- the GPSrs had us looking in a very different area than the cache was finally spotted in. Geo Baby put forth a pretty good effort on the search in the wrong area, but was just a little too scared to follow the spooky trail with all the dripping branches... Swapped a frog for a flip-flop, and left a piece of paper with our names since there was no log inside. Thanks.
Creekside ParkBy: zapboy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small
This was our second no-log-inside event of the day. I wonder if someone in the neighborhood has a thing for logsheets instead of toys? Strange stuff... Anyhow, Geo Baby sampled the playground with Joani, which was just a little wet, while we found the cache. Then it was off to a yummy Hobee's lunch! Thanks!
GeoBeads #3 ? Down the ChuteBy: zapboy with help from workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small
We enjoyed our little wimp hike along the trail today. I enjoyed finding all the hidden entrances to the path, like this one. Not too many people using the path today, comparatively, since it was kinda wet from last night's rain, but that makes for better caching! Thanks for the cache.
Find the S in Stevens CreekBy: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
Hey, wouldja look at that! A cache and we weren't even expecting one there! Plenty of room to sign along the side and in the stash note part of the log. Thanks!
House With A ViewBy: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small
Getting to this cache, Geo Baby got to burn off a lot of that excess energy she somehow gets. I must be pretty jaded, because I just didn't see the fun in running up the hill... Of course, we let her know that this cache would be big enough for toys, so that might have had something to do with the enthusiasm for the hill. When we got there, she was wondering where all the snakes were, but we let her know that it was too cold for them to be out. Her efforts on that hill were well-rewarded with a spongebob yo-yo, in exchange for a pink bouncy ball. Those sure are nice houses.
Vista Grande OverlookBy: CKayaks Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro
Geo Baby was able to make it all the way here (and to the next cache) from nearest parking using her own two legs and not a single complaint, quite an accomplishment. For her troubles, she got to try out the bench and down an Odwalla bar while Mom and Dad enjoyed the view. Thanks!
Vista GrandeBy: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro
Geo Baby seemed to be ramping up the complaint frequency, so this was our last cache of the morning's hike. Cache was tough to find, but rewarding once spotted. I was just happy to be able to stay out of the naked sticks to get it, since I couldn't tell if that was good oak or bad oak... We enjoyed the bench while munching on our apples and pears, then Geo Baby decided to ride on shoulders most of the way back to the car. Thanks for the cache.
Parking AreaBy: CKayaks Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
WalruZ, Geo Baby and I came out for a quick hike in Sunol this morning, before needing to get home for nap. It was nice to have a built-in waypoint in our GPX to the appropriate parking spot for our adventure! WalruZ got to the site first and noticed the container in a place that it probably shouldn't have been, and so we replaced it consistent with the attachment mechanism. Thanks for the cache.
Architectura 2: Bear With MeBy: Kilroy Gang Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular
At the Faculty club for a meeting, so I thought I'd drop some travelers that I've held onto for over a week...
Light Across the LandingBy: vtluu Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
Lots of traffic nearby today, but not much going on at the storage place. TFTC.
Levee Run - BART ViewBy: csolsen Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
We managed to get in a nice walk, with Geo Baby in her uber-winter coat, before the rains started today. Thanks for the cache close to home!
Where Eagles SoarBy: Koolrat Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small
So, WalruZ and I were out hiking in Toro for our first time ever (hard to believe, I know, but Ft. Ord used to be our favored default, and well, you know what happened there...), and we were hanging out at the Toro View: Cactus Garden cache, when we decided to head over here. So, I see this trail which looks promising and even widens out like it was some old road to someplace, and then it just ended. Like that. Right before a big bluff-like thing. Well, we saw deer tracks, and if the deer could do it... We were glad to see a trail when we got to the site, because it would have been a bummer to have to figure out the best way to go from there. Thanks!
Black Mountain ShoelacesBy: Trail Reader (formerly known as LFoucht) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular
This was a quick find, when I managed to look down. Well, I guess WalruZ actually looked down before I did, so the credit goes to him. We headed out to look at the Marks Canyon trail after this. That was a little scary -- the fact that we lost so much elevation from this point!
East Toyon SwampBy: Trail Reader (formerly known as LFoucht) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small
I agree with you TR/LF, the East Toyon Trail was really enjoyable! We sampled all sorts today in Toro, and I enjoyed this stretch the most.
"P" Is For ParaguayBy: Trail Reader (formerly known as LFoucht) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small
Yeah, after much negotiation and consternation about the adequacy of our Official Trail Map received at the ranger kiosk, we actually made it up here. It was a real adventure today -- we were kind of wandering around not knowing which cluster to point to! Thanks for the cache.
Highway Sixty-eightBy: roanq Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
After our hike in Toro, we were going the right direction to pull out here. So we did. WalruZ read the description and new log about the coordinates before we jumped out of the car, so fortunately we headed over to the right parking area. Found the new hide after quite a search. Glad to have it found now. Thanks.
Toro View Hills - On a Clear Day....By: RoanQ Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro
We moseyed on downhill after our East Toyon adventure today, and stopped here to admire the clear afternoon view! Thanks!
Toro View Hills - Rocky and RuggedBy: RoanQ Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro
We looped over here from the East Toyon area, and couldn't believe that we had gained that much elevation over there! I figured that we had lost a ton going out to the Marks canyon cache, and once we hit the Toyon Ridge trail we were way higher than when we exited out there on the East Toyon trail. Cache was a quick find, once I got down there and started putting some effort into it. Thanks.
Toro Hills View - Cactus GardenBy: RoanQ Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
So, WalruZ and I were out early this morning (for us) to try on Toro Park for size. We stopped over at the Libby nickname cache, then continued up to try to hit this one. That was a mistake, and we ended up backtracking to something with lower elevation. Then there was interesting way of getting to the next closest cache, but I'll save that follow-the-arrow story for later... Thanks for the cache.
Don't Know Much Trigonometry...By: el Jim Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
WalruZ and I made a stop for this cache on our way out of Toro, after a great day of hiking. There is a very cool bee hive in a nearby oak tree. Real bees, not just yellow jackets, so it was pretty cool to watch them zoom in and out! Thanks for the cache.
Elizabeth's NicknameBy: Trail Reader (formerly known as LFoucht) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
WalruZ and I were out here trying Toro park on for size -- a very nice, if not a bit more hilly, option instead of Ft. Ord. This was the first south-eastward stop on our way uphill from the parking area. Found cache a bit out in the open, so hid it back up a bit more cacher-like. Thanks.
Toro CacheBy: Just a Short Walk Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular
WalruZ and I got a fairly early start this morning, and hit Toro park to see how much hiking we could do before needed to head back to Grandma's house. This was our first stop in the park, and it was cool to see that it was JASW's first hide too! Cache was a bit exposed (well, not that anyone but the deer will see it up here), so we hid it a bit better with some natural cover. Thanks!
Fallen WindmillBy: Just a Short Walk Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular
We didn't see the distracting debris near the cache, although there was plenty lying around elsewhere. We did get to see the chawed-on coyote nearby. Found the cache about 28' from GZ, in a location quite consistent with the posted terrain rating. Thanks for the cache.
Marks Canyon RambleBy: Joe Mac Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular
Wow, now THAT was off the beaten track for sure! I had more than a little trepidation about losing the elevation getting out there on the Marks trail, but as it turned out, it wasn't all that bad. Thanks for the cache!
H1DS#21 CarmelBy: NickHawley, Monk191 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro
Another quick stop on a drive-around Saturday afternoon. Surprisingly enough, there was ample parking quite near to the cache site. The old nearby caches must have disappeared... Thanks for the cache.
Pacific MeadowsBy: Roanq Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
I wonder what all the people driving into the community were thinking about some random people wandering around there... Thanks for the cache.
ScarlettBy: Roanq Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
I was spending my energy on driving through the area, so WalruZ made the find on this. Thanks for the cache.
PLAY * PRAYBy: Roanq Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small
WalruZ and I took a nice Saturday drive in Carmel while Geo Baby was napping with Grandma. We thought this one was going to be a DNF, then WalruZ expanded his thinking a bit and found it. Thanks for the cache.
Saddle MountainBy: Roanq Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
This is someplace I know that I have never been before. Thanks for the cache.
Rattlesnake (grass) FieldBy: Roanq Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular
Quick stop on a drive-around sort of Saturday. Swapped trackables, thanks!
La Mission San Carlos Borromeo del Rio CarmeloBy: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular
I accompanied WalruZ on his recon mission (pun intended) and we noted a painfully missing sign for stage 1. Hmmm. Nice walk in the preserve, though. Dropped a traveler. TFTC.
Wild Coord CacheBy: cyan_blue and echidnaboy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular
I knew that this one would be big enough to leave a TB that I needed to drop, so I hurried on over here before my dentist appointment in Sunnyvale this morning. As I was walking around getting a fix on the search site, a voice called out to me from the building "are you GPSing?". I was startled but said yes, and he asked if I wanted to know where it was. I declined, but shortly had it in hand as soon as my arrow cooperated. I didn't feel so compelled to act all stealthy-like after the warm welcome from the tennis center! Thanks for the quick find!
