SF Playgrounds - Children's Playground

By: abngreg (adopted by BuckyD) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Checked up and all was well. Removing maintenance needed attribute. Apologies to those that visited or ran PQs today and found the cache unnecessarily disabled.

We Major In Careers

By: MtnDew707 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Out roaming around after our sorta-weekly Sunday breakfast at IHOP nearby. We thought the placement area, with the tree blocking the security camera, was a nice touch. Thanks for the cache.

Alameda Creek Stables - Shrubbery

By: Geo Fan Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

We were back in the area for our kinda-weekly Sunday breakfast at the Newark IHOP, and decided to revisit this one with our full tummies. Funny enough, there was less pedestrian traffic around here this morning at 10, even though it was approximately the same time as when we were there the day before, with even nicer weather! We didn't have the benefit of the updated hint, but after bashing around there for a while, the find was made. TFTC.

Creatures Great and Small

By: Neophile Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

You know times are bad when tree-dwelling denizens get foreclosed on, but the view on the other side of the fence was very nice. Thanks!

Monorail, Monorail

By: TimeBox Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Quick find in a nice park, and a much nicer hide than the previous Joe Spaz cache that was once here. This was playground #3 that Geo Baby enjoyed visiting on todays post-IHOP roam around Fremont-Newark-Union City. Thanks for the cache.

Thin Crust Pizza

By: TimeBox Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Glad we had Geo Baby with us to help with cover on this one. Parents tend to get a little creeped out when individual geocachers (especially the solo-flying middle-aged male types with bush leaves hanging off of them from a previous cache hunt) get this close to these sorts of structures when mini-muggles are around. I foresee an altercation here in the future...

Dance Studio Competition

By: csolsen Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Walruz has had the occasion to become very familiar with one of the dance studios nearby, and expressed much trepidation about doing this cache, as he thought it would be in the uber-busy parking lot. When we drove by and didn't go in, I think I heard a huge sigh of relief from the other side of the car. Where we ended up was cache-worthy, indeed. Thanks!

Levee Run - Dog Walkers

By: csolsen Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

We were out roaming around after Sunday morning breakfast and decided to pick up all the stray caches that have popped up in our home query. This was a nice walk out, and a playground bonus for Geo Baby. Always nice to revisit Niles Park. Thanks.

Coyote Hills View

By: donvsop Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

It was an all-day trek at toddler pace to hit the new caches on this leg of Alameda Creek, and we managed to hit this one around 10:30 am as our first find of the day. I think we spent at least 30 minutes looking here with just the waypoint, finally resorting to the smartphone to get the hint. After that, we managed to find it a short time later in a place that WalruZ is convinced that he already looked. Thanks for the new cache!

Alameda Creek - Pump It Up

By: Alamogul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I think today's walk out to the Bay was just a little longer than we anticipated with the preschooler in tow. Took us all day, although the weather was fabulous for it. Just wish we had brought some snacks to placate the child... We looked all over for this one, then WalruZ got the requisite draw-blood injury of the day, and then we could find it totally and completely away from where WalruZ decided to manhandle the barbed wire. Funny how those things happen... Thanks for the cache.

Alameda Creek - Rest Stop

By: Geo Fan Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

This was a great stopping point on the way out to the Bay, and I gotta tell you I was counting the tenths-miles down until we got here on the way back. WalruZ had taken a short rest on the ground a quarter mile from here, but I knew that if I utilized that ground I would not be getting back up anytime soon [:P]. We stopped and rested a good long while both directions, while Geo Baby played with the toys in her Dora backpack. Silly me for thinking that I was feeling up to my old distances... Must be that second trimester boost or something. Cache was in good shape. Thanks!

Eden Landing Ecological Reserve - View

By: Geo Fan Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I called it from, like, 100 feet away. WalruZ still checked someplace else, though, and I got there first. Thanks for the cache.

Alameda Creek - Near Trail's End

By: Geo Fan Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

Yeah, about the time we got out here, we realized that a mile and a quarter more on flat ground was still a mile and a quarter more (and a mile and a quarter back, but I was ignoring that thought at the time). Geo Baby was still doing okay, though, with the exception of talking about wanting to have snack semi-constantly. We distracted her by promising Carl's Jr. (which has a playground, not necessarily a food-draw) after our walk. Where do three year olds get all that energy!?! WalruZ got to the site before we did, so he did the honors. Thanks for the cache.

Alameda Creek - Bay View Nano

By: Geo Fan Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

We had to wait out a couple of small cycling families, but then had the place to ourselves to sit, reflect, and find a cache. Then it was a long, sunny trek back to the cache-mobile. Thanks for the series on this end of the creek!

Alameda Creek Stables - Shrubbery

By: Geo Fan Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

On the way out, we spent a bit of time until a bunch of runners chose this as their hang out point. I suggested moving on at that point. So we tried again on the way back, with no muggle interruption, and still couldn't spot it. Luckily it is a lot closer to the trailhead than the other caches we went for today, and we can return easily...

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #40

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

[I saw this one come live last night, but since I had inside info that a Joe Spaz anniversary cache was being placed, it just didn't feel ethical going for the FTF. Besides, I was tired. This morning, in honor of Cesar Chavez, I decided to hit it after drop-off. Fun stuff -- although stealth was pretty much out of the question here.] Anyone shorter than five foot five is going to have real problems with retrieval/replacement. [TFTC and Happy Birthday Joe.]

Got it, got it again, got eco-cache . . . ?

By: Albatrozz Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Geo Baby wanted to go on a walk today, and I could use all the exercise I can manage myself, so we set off to the flatlands to see what we could find. When WalruZ started reading about this easy walk, and there was very straightforward legal Sunday parking nearby, we decided that the Guadelupe trail was it. Enjoyed the area; thanks for the cache.

Chips and Oranges

By: Albatrozz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

From the copious amounts of very orange fruit on the trees and on the ground, it doesn't seem like they're actually interested in harvesting and selling their bounty. Too bad, I hate to see good healthy snacks like that go to waste... thanks for the cache.

River here, River there

By: Mystery Ink Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

The blossoms were blooming and the smell was wonderful! thanks.

Little Black Micro

By: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

We came by here for a pre-walk lunch at Hobee's, and so I thought I'd grab a little pre-caching cache. For a strip mall with residences over it, I thought it strange that most of the storefronts were closed on Sunday -- even the eating-types! Only Starbucks and Hobee's were open!??! Thanks for the cache.

James Lick

By: bullit Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

We came from the Guadelupe river trail side, noting that there is a gate to allow access between the residential area and the recreational trail. I finally figured out how to project a waypoint with my not-new GPS, and found the cache quickly after that. Enjoyed the area, despite the chain link fences, and stayed to sample the playground for a while.
