Secret Trailhead #2 - Burlingame

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I found it on my way to Taylor-made. MJP303

Taylor-Made

By: The Owl and the Pussycat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I approached this cache from the secret trailhead side, and then failed to follow the trail marker. So, getting to the end of the driveway I was faced with a choice: hike back up and around OR bushwack through the ravine. I love these geocaching dilemmas [8)]. Short on time, wearing long pants, and pretty sure that there wouldn't be too much water in the creek, it was an easy choice. TNLNSL. Thanks for showing me this park. MJP303 PS. The logbook only has one more page.

SF-51C

By: jef Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I thought I'd find this cache after work. Upon arriving at the parking area, I knew it wasn't going to be a dash and grab effort. Taking the road up took me 50 minutes at a brisk clip. The killer part of this route is the sudden increase in grade about half way up. The funny thing is that once you emerge on top of the ridge, you're just as far away (as the crow flies) from the cache as you were in the parking lot. On the way down, I found a more direct route straight over the side of the hill. (Yes, there is a trail!) About 2/3 of the way down you enter a Eucalyptus grove. One of the biggest trees has a rope swing. The trail is so steep at that point that someone has strung several ropes to help people negociate the trail. Going this way took me 10 minutes to reach the bottom. Thanks for the adventure! MJP303

Civil war in California?

By: ChrissySkyking+Blaze (maintained by kindredla Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Thanks for the interesting cache. We talked to a homeless vet who stopped by to place a flower at stage 4. Evidently he has spent a lot of time close-by, and entertained us with a few tall tales before moving on. The kids traded, and I dropped off a TB. When approaching the cache site, watch out for people climbing the stairs to their apartments. MJP303

An Asp in the Garden of Birds

By: Genius Loci Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

When I found this marker, I was genuinely startled![:I] The location cache is thematically correct too. Nice. MJP303

The Ruined Palace of Jupiter

By: Genius Loci Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Not chosen

Genius, I am amazed at the pains you take to hide a cache. I must have stared at the marker for 20 minutes before I realized what it was. Thanks, MJP303

Neptune and the Fisherman

By: Genius Loci Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 4.5 Container: Not chosen

Finding the marker for this cache prompted me to link to Geocaching.com liability waiver and actually READ what it says [;)]. MJP303

The Rustic Temple of the Wind

By: Genius Loci Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Thanks for a fun puzzle. This one was the bait, and I am hooked. MJP303

Middlefork 2

By: Team Purdy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Those are big houses. Must be nice. The cache seemed pretty exposed, so I tried to cover it up a bit better. Against my better judgement, I took the TB. I've never seen on so big. I'll bet it wouldn't fit in most of the caches I've found back home in California. Thanks for bringing me to this place. MJP303

Whimsical Toy Cache

By: PKINFO Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Got it. Thanks, MJP303

The Road that Never Was

By: Genius Loci Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

Being discreet is pretty tough on this one. You probably need a lookout, which I didn't have, being on work assignment from California. Hopefully the guy on the bike who whizzed by while I was crouched at the first cache site thinks I was doing something he doesn't want to get anywhere near [;)]. Since the second cache container was quite large, I dropped off Little Red Caboose. MJP303

Volo Bog Suprize

By: The Jolly Roger (jollybgood) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Wow! What a cool place. A great hike on a pleasant autumn afternoon. There must have been a hundred turtles soaking up the sun. I am dropping off mini white bear #5 TB, who has visited bthomas in California, and is trying to return to Minnesota. This is as far north as I'm going to go, so hopefully others can help it finish the journey. Thanks, MJP303

Wunderlichin' Good Cache

By: dw Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

It was just us and the horses this morning. This kids traded, and I took the TB. We took a picture; the display read 20. Thanks for a nice hike. MJP303

RWC Hills Beacon - Endangered Landmark

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

After a brief search we found the cache. With some pocket change I made the folks at 1 Summit Drive an offer on their cottage they couldn't refuse [;)]. Great view inspite of the haze. MJP303

Genial Gene

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

No game this afternoon, so I was able to find this cache without any muggle scrutiny. This was not true of the neighboring caches! I'll be back [;)]. I had a funny experience while searching: An elderly lady boldly asked me if I'd had any luck yet. The strange thing is that my GPS was in my pocket at the time. I suppose I really didn't look like I was just in the park for a pleasant afternoon stroll. I saw her again later, and she winked at me! MJP303

Gateway to San Mateo

By: normanb Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I found the cache on the way home from work this afternoon. I had to wait for the city groundkeepers to finish their work, but found it quickly. Thanks, MJP303

CalTrain - South San Francisco

By: normanb Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

This cache is close to my work, so I knew how to get there. I'd never seen the mural though. Thanks, MJP303

Es Effo Bug Hotel

By: bthomas Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I came to pick up a TB for my trip to Chicago next week, taking Mini White Bear #5 who is apparently on the way back to Minnesota. The view from the cache site is beautiful! Thanks! MJP303

A Little Logic

By: kablooey Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

What a strange place. I've noticed a couple of the routes to this cache before, and wondered about them. Thanks! MJP303

Beach Comber's

By: The Robot Family Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

With the oppressive heat inland, we thought a cache at the beach would be the perfect Saturday afternoon activity [8D]. We were at the cache about 15 minutes before EdS from PA, and watched him search from the beach. Afterwards, the kids played in the waves. Thanks for bringing us to a great spot [:D]. MJP303

Pete's Bair Cache

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze (adopted by kindredlau Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The 4 little P's traded. The 2 big P's were happy to be out of the house for a while. We all played on the tug boat after visiting the cache on a very pleasant Sunday afternoon. Thanks, MJP303

Take a Gamble

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze (adopted by CaliSeaSta Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

We found this one on a quiet Labor Day afternoon. The kids traded, and I dropped off the Radar Trekker TB. A neat place. Thanks, MJP303

Numbers & Letters

By: mrZ Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

We couldn't figure out #7, but made an educated guess. Then I transposed two of the numbers in the N coordinate, which led us to another location that turned out to be identical to the actual cache site. In any case, we ended up exploring a bit more than we intended, which is why we like this game so much! Thanks for the puzzle. MJP303

Birds, Planes and a Bair

By: mrZ Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

We've been to this spot before. Thanks for placing a cache here. The kids traded. We saw 3 propeller planes and a jet take off. MJP303
