Saluting General

By: woggs1 Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

Workerofwood and I made the hike to this fantastic cache on a foggy morning. The area just adjacent to the tree was a steady rainshower because of the all the water being knocked down. It seems that the "arm" alone is bigger than most of the nearby trees!

I left a Jeep TB. Hopefully that will entice others to come along this trail. The climb back to the car had my lung s and legs burning. A perfect trip. mjp303

Semi-Secret Trailhead

I found it with workerofwood at the beginning of our hike to Saluting General. mjp303

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #11

By: joespaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Again a close call: coming out of the bushes a guy on a bike gave me a funny look, so I said, "I really had to go." He seemed satisfied. mjp303

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #10

By: joespaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

A tennis player looked right at me, so I said, "I'm looking for spiders." He laughed. Cover preserved. mjp303

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #9

I dunno, just luck I guess: found it in the first place I looked. mjp303

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #6

This cache reminded me of my days in Wisconsin. You know, home of the Badgers. mjp303

Bang Bang Birdy!

By: BuckyDef Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

1:15pm. Last to find was a muggle who promised he and his dog would protect the cache. I found it in plain view to anyone who cared to look, and suggest that you move it to a safer spot. Thanks for bringing me to this pleasant area. mjp303

Orange Lincoln

By: mharrigan Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I had to stall as dog walkers and bike riders went by, but made the find. mjp303

Rengstorff Park # 2.5

Boulter

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Nice. Dinner time is not the best time to come though. mjp303

Puppy Play Group

By: The Pointy Ear Dog Gang Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

1pm. I felt a little awkward without a 4-legged escort, and, unfortunately, the guy who was walking about 12 at once wouldn't loan me one.[;)] I found the cache in good shape, and all those dog toys were still looking brand new, although the ammo box lid is starting to rust around the edges. Thanks for the stroll. mjp303

Nice Neighborhood Garden

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

GPSr was vague, but the cache description was explict. I felt a bit like I was in someone's backyard. Thanks for the quick find. mjp303

Searching for E-T

By: E-T Explorers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I found this cache on my second visit. It's in a very clever hiding spot. When replacing the container, I discovered the "out of place position" by accident, and realized why I couldn't find it the first time. TFTC. mjp303

Nanny Goat Hill

By: Dr. Zaius Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

One of the nicest vistas I've seen in a long time. Today the view was just like the picture on the cache page: crystal clear. Thanks! mjp303

Candlestick Point

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

A very nice lunch-time walk. I was briefly confused about one of the clues, which led to incorrect coordinates. I was able to correct myself without returning to the first waypoint, and fortunately, the correct ones were just a bit further in the same direction. There is a squirrel epidemic in this park! TFTC. mjp303

All That Jazz III

By: chronic Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

7pm. I'm not interested in Jazz, but I like hiking a lot, so thanks for luring me into this park. I saw lots of wildlife and really enjoyed the walk along the stream. Based upon previous logs, I was worried that I would have trouble finding the cache, but fortunately I didn't have too much trouble. TNLNSL. mjp303

A Schilling For Your Thoughts

By: digitalfish Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

A nice hike! I over-ran the cache due to the tree cover and resulting slowness of my GPSr to triangulate. This led me to venture into a place I probably shouldn't have gone, but when I came back the coordinates were right on. Thanks, mjp303

Northeast McLaren Overlook

All quiet on a lunchtime swing. TNLN. mjp303

South McLaren Overlook

By: BuckyDef Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

#2 in my lunchtime swing. I enjoyed the view and the hike, and then carefully extracted the cache without disturbing the hiding spot (too much!) I found a jeep TB, which I took. TFTC. mjp303

Crocker Puppy Park

By: BuckyDef Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

#3 on my lunchtime swing. I found the cache easily because there were no dogs around, but was befuddled for a minute by the fact that I could grab the cache but not retrieve it. [;)] Now, on to Piccalo Pete's for a sandwich. mjp303

CASA de TABLETA

By: Rain734 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

A quick find this morning. I felt a bit exposed to passing traffic which is quite busy, but retreated to a secluded sandy spot nearby to sign the log. TFTC. mjp303

Day on the Gravel

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

A peaceful spot. I enjoyed the water fountain sculpture, but was sorry it didn't work. While sitting on the bench signing the log, I watched a well dressed woman pull into the parking lot across the street and proceed to touch up some scratches on her car's bumper with what looked like nail polish. That Cache by the Duck Pond

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

All quiet on the ground, but plenty of planes overhead. I wonder if any of them noticed me? Passed a bird with a broken leg. TFTC. mjp303

Whisman Park

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I had to wait a moment for a couple of engineers who were inspecting the work on the extention of the park across the street to move away from the cache, then I made the find. mjp303

Middlefield Field

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Kind of a strange area with the parking lot all blocked off. I didn't understand what it meant that the nearby condos were being "privatized". Anyway, I enjoyed the hide. Very creative. mjp303

Rengstorff Park # 4

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I think I found this one before WeBeDnD. Hopefully I cleared out all the insect life: Retreiving the cache, I encountered cobwebs. Next, I'm holding the container and suddenly I realize that there are ants all over my hand! Finally, I am returning the cache when I see a spider with a body about the size of a pencil eraser climb out of the hiding place! That'll teach me to grab things without looking. [;)] mjp303

Rengstorff Park # 3

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I got it. Yeah, Insect free! mjp303

Rengstorff Park # 2

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

As luck would have it, all the tennis courts were empty except for the one closest to the cache. Fortunately it was an intense game, and I passed by unnoticed. mjp303

Rengstorff Park # 1

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Well, I would have had it if the "park ranger" hadn't been too lazy to do his job. He sat in exactly the same spot (50' from the cache) with exactly the same bored look on his face over the 20 or so minutes it took me to find the other caches. Amazing. mjp303

San Veron Park

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I appreciated the positioning of the cache to provide a bit of privacy. Fortunately all I needed was a second or two. mjp303

FTF!!! [8D] 8am. A quick find on the (long!) way to work. I am a bit concerned that the cache will slip from its perch. mjp303

Moonman

By: NavySparks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I found the fire plug (is that a Navy term?); I found the cache (ouch!); I found the signature travel bug. Thanks for the FTF [8D]. I've been in this park from the North and the West. Thanks for helping me find a new enterance. Whew! That's a steep trail. mjp303

Tree Puzzle

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was my second visit. I think it might have been AWOL on my first. On my first visit I pulled a little too hard on what I thought was the hiding spot, breaking off a piece of the tree and showering myself with earwigs. YUCK. When will I learn??? It's never that hard to uncover a cache. TFTC. mjp303

Arguello Park

By: NavySparks Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I found it with John (4) and Ted (4). Ted latched onto the football and wasn't going to leave without it. His shouts actually attracted the attention of some people on the ball field below. Unfortunately, I didn't have an equal trade item, so we'll be making a return trip. I enjoyed the view of Hoover tower framed between the hills. We took a picture with the camera. TFTC. mjp303

It's Windy

By: mrZ Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

FTF!!! 8pm. [8D] Nice cache container! My eybrows were in good shape, but I was able to take care of a couple of pesky nose hairs after signing the log. [;)]

I was so excited with the FTF that I used up two lines on the sheet. The numbering system is now messed up. Sorry.

Warning to night cachers: As I w as approaching the cache, I startled two SKUNKS [:O] who quickly ran back into the rocks. You might find more than you bargained for!

All in all, a fun cache! Thanks, mjp303

Three Bridges

By: Muggle Finder Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

We enjoyed exploring the bridges quite a bit on a warm Saturday afternoon. Maggie (7) and Claire (10) were afraid to retrieve the cache from its hiding place after seeing a squirrel scurry in there, leaving Dad to do the dirty work. TFTC. mjp303

Trails Challenge: Crown Beach

By: Muggle Finder Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Between waves of pedestrians along the nearby path, we located the cache. There's some smelly scum growing on the water here now. We plugged our noses and logged our find a quickly as we could. mjp303

Proposal Point

By: Jish Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

My Garmin e-Trex didn't like being in those trees. Good thing I had looked at the hint pictures before setting out. Even though I knew where it had to be, it took about 5 times around the tree to finally zero in on the hiding spot. It was pretty much high tide when I visited the cliffs, and the waves crashing on the rocks was very nice to see. mjp303

By: The Owl and The Pussycat Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

FTF!!! 3:30p I searched for awhile, finding a glass beer bottle, a plastic gatorade bottle, and finally, the cache. BTW, those others were higher above the ground than the cache, which I don't think bodes well for your hope that the cache will be flood-proof. Good thing there's plenty of dry weather ahead! The homeowner in the house to the east of the cache has placed a manequin head in the upstairs window! It really gave me a scare for a second. TFTC. mjp303

I searched for about 20 minutes, finally not even bothering to stop when people walked by. I figured I could say that I was looking for something that I had dropped, if anyone asked. Nobody did. So, do we get a FTF on the new hide? Really nice camo! Actually Claire (9) picked that thing up. Given the location I never would have tried it. mjp303

Boardwalk

I came last night to find this cache, but was spooked by a barking dog and a concerned homeowner. Returning today, it was a quick scramble and an easy find. Fun. mjp303

Mission Hospice

I found this a few days ago, but computer problems prevented me from making the e-log until now. Interestingly, my medium ball point pen wasn't working on the cache log either. I'll have to swing by in the next few days with a thinner writing implement to make it official. mjp303

Hemlock Rules

By: Evil Spawn of Hemlock Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

After a few furtive glances in the rear-view mirror, I drove right to it. While driving up the road, I was trying to come up with a reasonable excuse for being there, because even though there aren't any signs forbidding it, the whole setup seems to shout STAY AWAY. Slightly creepy, but fun. Thanks, mjp303

Crystal Springs "Tower of Power"

I made the loop from Photobox, and found this cache right where I expected it to be. Huddert Park has got to be one of my favorite places. mjp303

I finally arranged enough time to hunt this cache. What a beautiful hike. Thanks for getting me out into Huddert Park. mjp303
