CalTrain - Bayshore #2

By: normanb Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I enjoyed touring the new station, and was amused by the huge clock on the west side that tells the time to no one. Thanks! After a short walk, I saw the cache container glinting in the sun from a distance, and tried to hide it better after signing the log. Also, I took the CO coin, and will move it along. mjp303

End of the Trail 2: Lambert Creek

By: darrenk13 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I left the rest of the crew up by the lake to go get this cache by myself. Pretty glad I did, too, since the shorter legs never would have made it back out of that canyon. In spite of the steepness of the trail, I really enjoyed the quiet seclusion. Jaklyn and I parted ways: a little incentive to the next visitor. Thanks! mjp303

Farewell CA Cache

By: Punsmann (Adopted by Marky) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

We found this cache on a family outing to Skyline Ridge OSP. It was pretty hot right next to the lake with the sun beating down, but we spent quite a while exploring after finding the cache. Thanks for bringing us to this picturesque spot. mjp303

Born Free

By: Mark and Alex Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

We found this cache with a group of six, a couple of which are about the same age as this cache. It was fun to look through years worth of logs: kinda like a time capsule. We noticed a lottery ticket from 2002 and a ticket to a play back in 2003. The kids traded and we lingered at the spot to have a snack and a drink of water. It was a very pleasant trail on a hot and sunny day. Thanks, mjp303

Three Women Who Cared

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Thanks for the opportunity to get reaquainted with this stretch of the bayshore...and learn about the people who preserved it for us. Like crawburr says, 8:30p means the gate is locked! [:O] We were there at 8:40. Thank goodness for the custodial crew who was just finishing up at the interpretive center, otherwise we would have been making a call to PAPD. In any case, the light at sunset accross the marshes was fantastic. John found the cache, and Maggie traded.

Ulistac Nature Preserve

By: mickeychopchop and bullit Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Detoured to find this cache while on the way to the airport. A nice big cache in a sea of micros: The kids were suitably impressed! Thanks. mjp303

Ulistac

By: Mhop (adopted by bullit) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Detoured a bit to find this cache and a couple of others on the way to the airport. Maggie took a picture of me and the boys. The kids traded. Thanks! mjp303

By: bthomas Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I missed the picnic, but enjoyed the quick find while out and about. Thanks! mjp303

Mental Workout

By: Rocket Girl and DuckeyLee Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

One of a couple I found after dark on the way home from the geocoin event. Night cacher I'm not. Thanks for a bit of salve for my wounded ego. mjp303

Yet Another Walkway

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

One of a couple I found on the way back from the geocoin event. With more DNF's than finds, night cacher I'm not. Thankfully I'd seen this hide before. TFTC. mjp303

Stairway to the Bay

By: vaccine Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Thanks for the morning bayside stroll. I'd been to the northern end of this new park before, but this was the first time to this section. TNLNSL. mjp303

M.O.M.

By: ac! Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Searched for this cache a bit, but came up empty. Decided to try the Turk Island cache to see if I could learn something about the hider's style. That's the ticket! Found it on my return visit. FYI, there is no more blank space on the log. TFTC. mjp303

Border Of Borders

By: ac! Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

After finding this cache, I decided to treat myself to a double-double (with onions) [;)]. Thanks for the excuse. mjp303

Turk Island Revisited

By: ac! Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Got it! Nobody on the soccer fields; nobody on the baseball diamond; nobody playing on the playground. Where is everybody? TFTC. mjp303

Hex If I Know

By: ac! Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Amazingly, I walked right up to it. Plenty of people at the playground and preparing food at the picnic tables, but nobody worried about me. Again, what is the purpose of this structure: A view of the canal? Hmmmmmm. Just one of those geocaching mysteries, I suppose. mjp303

Sidewalk Cache

By: JimmiGee Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I suppose there's some rule of bridge construction that requires a sidewalk...otherwise, I can't fathom the purpose for this place; it's a path to nowhere! Anyway, thanks for the smilie. mjp303

Free WiFi #1

The Motherlode #2 - Purisima Creek

By: geekster & tavahi Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I really enjoyed the hike to this cache. Spotty reception led me onto the Soda Gulch trail for a bit, but eventually I realized my mistake. Thanks! mjp303

Wunderlich Surprise

By: The Mc5 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Okay, I admit it! You got me. A pleasant evening hike and a fun suprise. TFTC. mjp303

Redwood Flats

By: PisoMojado Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Wow! A hidden gem. I was enjoying the walk so much that I forgot to check my position until I was about 50' away. Looking back at the track log, I realized it's just as well since I didn't have a signal the entire way from the last cache. Nice hide. Thanks! mjp303

ENTROPY

By: Rain734 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

What an interesting spot! Actually, this place looks pretty well preserved, all things considered. I wouldn't want to drink that water, though: too much pond scum. The cache really sticks out; I'm suprised no muggles have noticed it. TFTC. mjp303

Ask Your Kids

By: UncleTom Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Fun puzzle! A quick grab in fading light with someone standing 5' away but paying me absolutely no mind. I saw the batteries, but having nothing to trade, left them for the next finder. Thanks. mjp303

Bridge Over Troubled Water

By: matt & amy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I had to tie my shoe about 5 times, but eventually I found it. [;)] TFTC. mjp303

Small park, regular cache

By: yungman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Different bark? I thought the most striking thing was different leaves! I was alone in the park tonight, (Sort of...all the people driving by don't count, right?) and made a quick grab. TNLNSL. Thanks! mjp303

Unknown Alien Cache

By: ProTechCC Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

I agree with your theory. Nothing else makes any sense. That wasn't a really a cache, either. It's an interstellar lost and found. Right? [;)] TFTC. mjp303

First or Last

By: Woof! Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

At the last cache of the day, we finally had to deal with a little muggle activity. Nothing serious mind you, but it did seem a little out of place. Mr. Calipidder was feeling pretty comfortable with us at this point, revealing his true screen name: 'Drunken Marmot'. I was pretty wobbly myself, but all in all it was a great way to spend the day in a beautiful place. Thanks! mjp303

Take a Bite

By: Woof! Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

WoW offered to sign the log for me, and I happily accepted. Whew, I'm bushed. A fun and challenging series. Thanks! mjp303

Going Gazos

By: Woof! Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

No wasps; whew! After peering at things from the right angle, several of us spotted the cache, and directed WoW from to it from a distance. Thanks, mjp303

Quite Appeeling

By: Woof! Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

I've heard that the coastal fog helps grow really great fruit! Plenty of proof of that around here. TFTC. mjp303

San Gregorio

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

There was time for just one more cache before heading home. bthomas was suggesting a couple that he'd already done, but we determined that this was one we both still needed to find. TFTC. mjp303

Candelabra

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I was pretty tuckered out from the previous 4 hours of hiking, but made the trek down to this cache with the group. Fantastic! [8D] It was well worth the trip! What causes something like that to happen? Thanks for showing us the spot. mjp303

A.L.F.

By: Woof! Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I'll keep my two feet solidly on the ground, if you don't mind: that clearing looked too narrow for much of anything with a plane. Somebody's maintaining that cinderblock hut, though. Thanks, mjp303

Mystery Trail

By: Woof! Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

Another cache to mark the ascent to the top! Nearly there. TFTC. mjp303

By: Woof! Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

Escape

By: Woof! Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Small

Quite an adventure finding this cache! Thanks for the encouraging clues and a preview of the cache theme to come! I picked up Kablooey's 3 iron. TFTC. mjp303

Mt. Hope Cemetery

By: crawburr Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Escaping the hustle and bustle of the tourist crowd down in town, bthomas and I ate our take-out lunch within the peaceful confines of the cemetery. I was really suprised by the dates on some of the markers; a few were over 100 years old! Thanks for an interesting and informative cache! mjp303

Butano Creek

By: Butano and WT Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

First cache of the day with plans to walk a loop through the park. Nicely hidden and well stocked. Thanks! mjp303

Oat Bun

By: Mengarelliott Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

WoW is too kind. I forgot the club, plain and simple. Hopefully the other group took it with them. Sorry, Kablooey!

Going in Circles 2

By: Rogue Ramblers Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

[8D]FTF!!![8D] 8:10a I've done the loop here (in both directions!) before, so I appreciated a cache commemorating our misfortunes. The coordinates took me right to the spot. That sculpture across the way is pretty cool. Here's my incident report: Burrs -- most definitely; PO -- small sprigs on the ground here and there, easily avoided; Ticks -- none found; Dump -- yes, but now covered with leaves and twigs. SMILIE Low hanging branches -- yes, careful you'll poke your eye out. Just the sort of stuff to help you remember you're alive [;)]! Thanks, mjp303

Waters Crossing

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

A quick grab for me on the way to work, so no time to stop for an ice cream. I hope the neighbors don't mind! TFTC! mjp303

Matadero Creek Canal

By: TimberToo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

In contrast to the water in the Creek, the instructions were crystal clear to us. The final location was a pleasant suprise, and the kids spent a long time enjoying the amenities while I went off in search of a smilie. After a while, I found the nicely hidden cache and signed the log. The cache had the largest marble I've ever seen. [8D]! Thanks, mjp303

Bay Area Multiple Hills - 5

By: mhop (adopted by airsax) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

FTF in the new location. Thanks for a nice hike. I thought it was going to be clear, based upon my work view on the eastern side of the mountain, but, unfortunately, it was a bit foggy over on the west side by the cache. I felt a bit guilty going that far off trail, but it was evident I wasn't the first. The coordinates told me to search in the PO, so I checked the hint. No trouble finding the first item mentioned, but the second took a while. I was starting to think said item couldn't possibly be in the area around the cache. Oh, there it is, but how to get to it? TNLN, initialled my previous log. Thanks, mjp 303

[8D]FTF!!![8D] 6:35p I happened to check for new listings before leaving work. Lucky me! After a few minutes of research, I left with coordinates in hand. I found the cache, still smelling of wet spray paint. Thanks for a fun puzzle and some great views! TNLNSL. mjp303
