Cedar Street Park

By: Rogue Ramblers Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

After figuring out the set-up, I probably should have left this cache for another time: The park was packed with families enjoying a beautiful Sunday morning. Unfortunately, I didn't, which was fine...until the time came to put it back. I had to have one of the kids come over by the hide so that I could pretend to tie his shoe. Actually, I'm pretty proud of myself for thinking of this ruse. Thanks for showing us this park. We'll be back! mjp303

Bev-Mo Park

By: nlrw Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Well, you don't have to step off the path if you're Yao Ming, but, as the sticker in the cache container says, "NO WHINING", so I won't. Thanks for the smilie. mjp303

Hot Wheels

By: Barracuda and Lunaria Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I woke up this morning and thought to myself, "Okay, today is the day!", since this cache has been on my nearest page for about 2 years now. After finishing the trek, I'm sorry I waited so long, although the terrain was quite challenging. Thanks for the great down and up(!) and down once again(!!) adventure. mjp303

Wonder how you get there?

By: vaccine Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

3TF. I love the things you see while caching: So, I'm walking along and here comes a small hawk carrying a large rabbit. The rabbit is kicking and squirming like crazy. It's so heavy, and the motions are so vigorous that the hawk can't hang on and stay in the air. So the hawk drops the rabbit...onto the highway. In its fright, the rabbit runs into the tunnel. Five seconds later, I hear a loud WHACK! [:O][:O] Talk about going from the frying pan into the fire! Oh, I found the cache too. Thanks. mjp303

Redwing

By: CoolCache Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

No birds today, but I enjoyed the hike all the same. Thanks! mjp303

Cool Cache View

By: CoolCache Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

A great view of the bay and planes on approach. I see a lot of the same over in my neighborhood on the other side of the bay, but never tire of it. Thanks! mjp303

Totally Buggin' (TBs)

By: CoolCache Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

A quick find out of sight from people spending their lunch break in the parking lot. Why don't they get out and take a walk??? Well, at least their sedentary ways made my job easier. Thanks! mjp303

Oyster Rustler's Point

By: kemosabe Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I enjoyed exploring this stretch of the bay front. It looks like some sort of development is starting up nearby. I'm kind of confused about what the boundries of the park actually are. Thanks! mjp303

South of Marina Park - Southern Micro

By: 4wheeler Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The caches in this park are on my nearest page, so I though I better make the trek accross the bay and check things out. Thanks!

Marina Park - Northern Micro

By: TeamSpaz Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

Dogs and their owners, a soccer game, and plenty of people out getting some exercise (including me!). Thanks. mjp303

CITO Cache - San Leandro

By: Fremont Area Meet & Eat Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I found the cache just sitting there in the weeds with 3 CITO kits and a damp log book. I tried to hide it better, but given the container's size, it was tough. mjp303

The Guy-y Cache

By: Muggle Finder Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I found the cache partially buried in excavated dirt. Some sort of buried cables are being placed in a trench that runs literally a couple of feet from its hiding place. It suprising to me that the workers didn't notice the cache. I tried to hide it better, but it's still uncomfortably close to the work site. mjp303

Spooky Spooky Halloween

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

[8D]FTF![8D] 8:32pm I haven't had the urge to go for a FTF for quite some time, but when this one came up, I knew I would probably have to be fast! It was definitely creepy in the dark with plenty of night noises and steep unfamiliar terrain. I was starting to despair, but suddenly there it was. Victory! TFTC. mjp303

Dead End

By: The Mc5 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I got startled by a couple of muggles out walking their dog, so I palmed the cache and continued on down the street a bit. Nicely done! mjp303

Space Cowgirls

By: Space Cowgirl CaliSeaStar Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I was expecting to find the cache site quiet and deserted. Wrong! There was a whole bunch of people involved in the space elevator competition milling about accross the way. TFTC. mjp303

C or N?

By: zapboy Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Heron's Head Park

By: AuntFlora/WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

After aborting an ill-conceived plan to cache in the east bay, I ended up here. (What was I thinking trying to cross the Bay Bridge late on a Friday afternoon???). The place I found was a very pleasant suprise! Upon arrival at the cache site, I interrupted a pair of aspiring artists that were engaged in self-expression on those granite blocks with a sharpie marker. They were curious about my GPSr, and once I explained things, they watched me search a bit. Shortly, the 'drawing' was done, and they departed. I had actually spotted it earlie r, but decided not to pull it out until they left. Caches 28; Days 18 TFTC. mjp303

Duck!

By: digitalfish Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

No Joy. I didn't get the hint until just now, so I probably missed it, although the area (along with every other bush along the path) looks...slept under. In any case, that's all I could think about while I was searching which was quite distracting. Caches 33; Days 21 mjp303

Baylands Bridge

By: digitalfish Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

View With A Bridge

By: digitalfish Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Great hike! RR really was in a hurry to get home last night! I found the cache container in plain sight. Either that or the hide has disturbed someone's home. I did see a few marsh rats on my way out there. The view of the old bridge was very cool. TFTC! Caches: 35; Days 21 mjp303

Ravenswood Trailhead

By: digitalfish Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Thanks for pointing out this neglected stretch of bayfront. I took a professional interest in the chemical plant nearby. Those are some serious distillation columns! I didn't recognize the name of the company though, so I'm not sure what they're doing. TFTC. Caches: 36; Days: 21 mjp303

ANX: The Angle of Eternity

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

What a great afternoon for a group caching trek! [8D] A group effort all the way; we started slow, but picked up steam as the puzzles unfolded. Stage 1: Boulter said the answer was right under his nose; for us, it was just above mine. The level of our confusion was nicely illustrated by both craw, who was looking for inspiration in paint flecks, and vaccine, who figured that bird poop meant something significant.

Stage 2: In theme and nicely done. It wasn't long before a pattern emerged though.

Stage 3: I had to snicker a bit at bthomas and vaccine who were way off in the bushes somewhere when craw, burr, and I found the puzzle. It was their insight, though, that led us to a solution.

Stage 4: Plenty of evidence of previous c achers at this spot, and I must admit that we felt obliged to comb over all the same tired spots. As we should have anticipated a lot quicker, the hide was truely unique. As time goes on it won't get any easier. I think craw said it would aquire 'patina'. Indeed.

Stage 5: We fanned out pretty quickly on this one, and as I was contemplating a hike up a pretty steep slope bthomas made the find.

Final: This one reminded me of some sort of reality show contest. You know, the kind where one person shouts instructions to his blind-folded teammates...Lots of confusion, vague gesturing, dozen s of opinions and requests. Gradually things came together though, and we had finished the quest.

Back in the car on the way home, we happened to glance at the picture on the cache page, carefully printed out and carried along, but forgotten in the heat of the moment. Hey! that would have been re ally helpful.

It's simply a tribute to this cache, which fit together on so many levels it's truly amazing. Grand fun. Thanks so much for putting it together.

Assume Nothing #2 1/2

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

When we arrived on scene, there was a kid trying to feed his dollar into the vending machine. It must have been pretty wrinkled, 'cuz he was having trouble. Fortunately, he didn't look around from his work, and we searched while he fed, and fed, and fed, and fed...Eventually it was victory for us and for him! We were happy. He looked relieved. Z's Favorite #1

By: SPnZ Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I was really enjoying this multi...until I got to the final location. Crouching there in the bushes, my worst fears were realized: Here comes a maintainance worker up the service road to check on things behind the fence! Cursing my bad luck, I started to pray he wouldn't notice me, which fortunately he didn't, even though I was close enough to spit on his truck. After he went inside the fence, I was able to high-tail it down the hill without being noticed. Why the heck did you decide to put the final there??? Suspicious lurking in the bushes by this place is going to cause a problem eventually. Thankfully it wasn't me. I strongly suggest you move it.
