Coyote Point 2

By: Shores Scout Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

A little bit late, and with traffic a little heavier than usual, I thought the gate would be manned by the time I arrived. Nope! [8D] So I eased on by and made this find. Thanks! mjp 303

Pirates of the Peninsula

By: Shores Scout Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

At this morning hour there were plenty of people out getting some exercise, so I had to be careful. I thought there might be some interference with my GPSr signal, but fortunately not. A nice large cache with plenty of goodies for the Cub Scouts to enjoy! I traded a TB for a travelling coin. TFTC! mjp303

Eucalyptus conferruminata

By: Rogue Ramblers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

As I approached, geekster and K.T. did quick U-turns and came back to watch me bumble around. Mercifully, I found it pretty quickly. Nicely done! Thanks for organizing the party...but somehow I missed the coordinates for the after cache BBQ. [;)] Oh, since there was a convienient little hook, I left a TB. [:O] mjp303

Ocean View Park

By: vaccine Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I had the boys for cover, so this one was pretty straightforward, even though the park was busy. Come over here son; I need to tie your shoe. [;)] TFTC. mjp303

The Lost Village of Grabtown

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Thanks for the history lesson and a short hike along this beautiful trail. I dropped a TB. mjp303

A Railroad Ran Through It

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

On the way in, we waved to the kids playing the the backyard of the new house. On the way out, we decided not to wave since their bathrobed parents were frowning at us from inside. Hey, if you want privacy, get some curtains! There were at least 20 windows, and not a single one was covered. Go figure. TFTC. mjp303

Phone a Friend

By: geekster Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

What a view! We paused to appreciate it before pushing on. TFTC. mjp303

The Lost Village of Summit Springs

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Nope. When the folks who live down the road to the southwest entered their driveway, locked the gate, and then stood there watching us through the trees, I decided it was time to go.

The Lost Village of Purissima

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Lost indeed! TFTC. mjp303

The End of the Line

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The boys and I were casually approaching this cache when we suddenly realized that we weren't alone. There under the bridge was a man reading a newspaper in the middle of his camp. I don't think he saw us and we slunk away after getting within about 50' of the cache. He didn't look like a geocaching friendly type. [:(] mjp303

ring my bell

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

There was a bell here??? I guess I didn't have time to notice it while watching to see if anyone was watching me...if that makes any sense at all. mjp303

you know the drill

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The best part of this cache was the conveniently located bench that I used while signing the log. I'm just not a brazen cache type, I suppose. Thanks for the smilie though. mjp303

easy

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Second visit. I really liked the camouflage on this cache. Nicely done. Thanks! mjp303

too easy

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

It's not my favorite type of cache location, but I got it. Thanks! mjp303

Almost Eden

By: mjp303 (adopted by niraD) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Evidently this cache has been the victim of some malicious mischief. Thanks to Sunshinegirl for dropping it in the nearest trash can, and I'm very sorry to anyone who had the misfortune of opening it up in that condition. Since the cache hide has obviously been discovered by idiots, I'm going to wait a while before putting anything back in hopes that they'll forget about it.

By: mjp303 (adopted by niraD) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Disabling until I can clean up.

Excel

By: Eagles Wing Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Thanks for replacing this cache! John and Ted had a great time riding their bikes down the bridge ramp. I tried to drop a thin TB, but the tag turned out to be too wide so I TNLNSL. mjp303

Mission 7: Crab Creek (Project APE)

By: Dep & Uno & Co & 2Wheel'in Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Large

Wow! I finally did it! An APE cache...but definitely not the one I expected. Maggie and I travelled out to the East coast from California to attend my brother's graduation from GW Law School (geonick ben500...maybe he'll have more time for caching now [;)]...oh, wait, I forgot he still has to pass the bar exam. [:O]) Since the morning was free, I knew this was going to be the one. No way I was going to get within 25 miles and not make the attempt. Since this wasn't really a caching trip, we muddled along as best we could. Of course, the GPSr just got us to the general vicinity, followed by lotsa wandering around looking for a suspicious pile. Ahhh, there it is. Just as we were hiding things, along came spoon! totally intent on his business. We had a pleasant chat; it's always nice to meet another cacher. Left a TB; took a TB. Thanks for the adventure! mjp303

green

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

I decided to take a long lunch today and pick up a couple of San Bruno Mountain straglers. It's amazing how many springtime flowers there are up here; and I'll never tire of looking down on the planes as they climb away from SFO. By the time I got this cache and the nearby TA hide, it was probably closer for me to just hike back to the office...but then I wasn't sure who I could get to bring me back up to get the car. TFTC. mjp303

No Star (bucks)

By: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

A cache in hand is worth two in the bush...or so I'm told. Before leaving the car, a little voice told me, 'It's a TA hide, don't forget the leatherman.' And I'm sure glad I didn't. Loved the hike and views; appreciated the hide. Amazingly, I got just as sweaty extracting this one as I did 'Isuzu gone'. TFTC. mjp303

Deer View

By: ehoover Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

It's been quite a while since we've been out on a cache hunt as a family, but this one was the perfect opportunity: close-by, short hike on a scenic trail, and a big container to trade in. The kids were bug-eyed when I pulled it out since they've been on plenty of underwhelming (from a trading perspective!) micro-cache hunts with me. The mosquitos were quite thick, which suprised me, since the area doesn't really seem moist enough to support them. Traded TBs. TFTC! mjp303

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I had a little coaching this time around. Very nicely done: I probably put my hand on it during my first search, but didn't realize it. TFTC. mjp303

The Rock Pile

By: sloigo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I zeroed out some distance away from the hide, but I think the others were too tired to prolong my agony; they just motioned me over after making the find. TFTC. mjp303

The Crag

By: sloigo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Just as we were driving up to this cache, a guy on a bicycle rode by. It seemed quite out of place. I'll bet he was thinking the same thing about us! TFTC. mjp303

By: Pal_Al Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I would love to know how you make one of these caches. Thanks for the diversion. mjp303

Don't Blink!

By: sloigo Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The gentleman working in his garden just a few feet from the cache was definitely distracted by us taking pictures of each other. That's a funny looking camera...it almost looks like a GPSr! TFTC. mjp303

A Green Valley View

By: sloigo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

A second visit with geekster and vaccine. I grabbed a TB.

Tray's Pinos Hotel

By: hotshoe Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was the last cache of the day during a tour of Clear Creek, San Benito Mountain, and New Idria. We stopped so that geekster could put some air in the tires on his jeep, but the compressor at the station left a lot to be desired. TFTC. mjp303

San Benito Mountain II

By: atc Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

vaccine and I tagged along with tour-guide geekster for a fantastic trip up Clear Creek and to the summit. What a fun adventure with million dollar views. It was definitely worth the effort to get here. I traded TBs. TFTC! mjp303

Road End

By: momagna Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I think I was occupied with getting something to eat out of the cooler while vaccine found this cache. Thanks buddy! mjp303

Paicines Reservoir

By: momagna Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

We ran into rain734 at this cache. Quite a coincidence to meet them here since they are from close to home on the peninsula. I swapped a TB, which they propmtly took to move further south. TFTC. mjp303

vaccine and I wormed our way up to the cache while geekster watched from below. He found it last week anyhow. Great view! TFTC. mjp303

Looking at You

By: Just a Short Walk & Iron Chef Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

geekster, vaccine and I tried to contour our way up to this cache. All we really accomplished was getting stuck by sharp plants. After wandering all over the hillside, we finally zeroed in on the hide. After taking care of business, we let gravity guide us back to the road. TFTC. mjp303

Steep Station

By: Just a Short Walk & Iron Chef Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen

I liked this little hike up a dry creek bed. Fortunately it didn't get too steep before we found the cache. The chance of getting it getting muggled is just about zero. Pretty different from back home in the bay area. TFTC. mjp303

Clear Creek

By: Just a Short Walk Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

We stratched our way into this cache. I won't wear shorts next time, that's for sure! mjp303

'G' Is For Ghost Town

By: Buxley Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

What a cool place! Even though nothing has been taken out of the ground here for over a century, it was still easy to envision all of the bustle and activity that must have once taken place. The editorial comments about the Sierra Club were quite entertaining. TFTC!

Tumey Hills

By: gbois Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

'The quest for the spoon' proves vaccine, geekster, and I are certifiable caching freaks. 8 miles out of our way on washboard dirt roads, across a field of grass that inbedded thousands of those razor sharp seeds in my socks and shoes (I already thew the socks away and the shoes are probably ruined), and up a cliff (yeah, let's be honest, that's what it really is), all to find a cache with no other redeeming virtue other than a SPOON!?! Well, it was an Iron Chef spoon, after all. [;)] Thanks for providing the adventure. mjp303

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

5:30p This location was shouting, 'You have no business here' so loudly that I couldn't concentrate on finding the cache. Since I could see people in their houses on the approach, I assume they noticed me. Maybe I'll come back at lunch time. That ought to be quieter.

c.f.m

By: c.f.m Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I was at this cache about 7:30p, but couldn't make the grab since there was a father and daughter playing catch nearby. So, I left to find another cache. When I returned, c.f.m and her dad were there for an owner visit. They looked for the cache in the place where they hid it, but a previous finder had improved the hide, which I was able to spot. [8D] It was very nice to meet you c.f.m! TFTC. mjp303

Go Left - I Mean Right

By: ibenthere Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I took a surveying course one summer when I was in high school, but the only thing I remember about it was that we did a lot of math with paper and pencil. The puzzle was a quick solve for me, but finding the cache was another matter. I got side tracked for quite a while by an alternate meaning to the hint, which fits really well with a close-by sign that shows a man, a dog, and a shovel. [;)] TFTC!
