Fowl Language

By: Eagle81 & Eagles Wing Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

A chilly morning team-up with crawburr did the trick. SMILIE She pointed out my clue-blindness at the first stage, but I redeemed myself by coming up with the cache at the end. I really shouldn't have missed that first stage. [:I][:I][:I] Thanks for a fun puzzle with some old and new twists! mjp303

GC Rules!

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

1:17p I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. I really enjoyed this walk; parks are wonderful! mjp303

Tiny Frogs

By: oldbadger Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

12:45p I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. This was the best hide of the day, IMO. Nicely done. What a great stretch of the trail. Watching some kids play by the creek brought back some very pleasant childhood memories. TFTC. mjp303

Devoted Cache

By: triplep220 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

1:52p I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. We definitely made this harder than it had to be. Fatigue and hunger probably played a part. I dropped a TB. Thanks. mjp303

Cormorant Feeding Line

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

11:31a I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. I noticed some herons and a lot of ducks on our hike today, but the cormorants weren't around. Too bad. TFTC. mjp303

Cache-Fishing

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

11:12a I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. The Los Gatos Creek trail is a very pleasant place to hike. TFTC. mjp303

Family Beginnings

By: summerandnana Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

12:05p I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. Dowbiggin says she politely let me get it. Personally, I think she was afraid of the spot. [;)] TFTC. mjp303

Secret Trailhead #20 - Campbell

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

4:01p This was a cache we missed on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks that I picked up afterwards. It was a bit tricky to find because of some extra camouflage that had been stacked in the area. TFTC. mjp303

M & J Geobeads #4 - USPC Stamp

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

10:31a I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. It was a bit chilly starting out, but the exercise is warming things up. TFTC. mjp303

Assume Nothing #8

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I passed by this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. It was fun to watch Dowbiggin and tlharrell work things out. SammyDee mentioned that we were in a SC county park, and that the placement is now against the rules. Too bad, but a great run.

1:32p I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. We found this cache nestled safely in its hiding spot, but it's true, there is an undergound beehive very close. Fortunately the insects are pretty lethargic in this cold weather. Probably a good idea to monitor the situation as things warm up. TFTC! mjp303

Slippery When Wet

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

12:37p I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. Yeah, like the previous cache, I did the dirty work. Actually, I was happy to contribute since others were taking me on a guided tour of LGC trail. The cache container was crawling with ants, and they were none too happy to be disturbed. TFTC. mjp303

Goose Meadow

By: jabberwocky and the little momeraths Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

1:09p I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. Thanks for pointing out this pleasant spot. mjp303

Secret Trailhead #9 - Vasona

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

1:02p I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. The look on Shadow101's face at the conclusion of his 'lesson' was one for the books. A true classic. Update the hint on the cache page and this baby is good to go. Thanks! mjp303

Los Gatos Creek Trail

By: tkohler Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

11:56a I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. Getting ready to wade into the middle of the bushes, Dowbiggin pointed out that it was right next to my foot. Whoops! I love the oldies. TFTC. mjp303

Thornewood's Front Door

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

6:14p #25 of 25 returning from a solo coastside blitz. No matter what time it is, you really can't pass up a cache that's only a few feet off your route. Can you? I can't. [;)] Thanks for a fun day! mjp303

Whimsical Wonders (HMB)

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

8:26a #2 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Quite a contrast from my experience at 'Chameleon Horse': This one was like watching paint dry. So, there was a fellow in his truck smoking. I sit there in my car patiently waiting while he lights 3 of the cancer sticks one right after the other. Since he wasn't leaving I decided I would stroll over to the cache and try to use the bush as cover. Drat, it's too short; and now the guy is curious about what I'm doing. In short, I spotted the cache, but decided not to draw my animal. As I left, the guy was lighting another smoke. Amazing. I'll have to come back another day. mjp303

Pigeon Point Lighthouse

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

11:39a #11 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. The lighthouse parking lot was overflowing, so I had to deal with prying eyes at close range. Thanks for placing the cache next to benchmark cover: the curious muggles got an inpromptu lesson on benchmarks, and fortunately for me, never asked about the funny container laying in the iceplant. [;)] T: travelling coin; L: A couple of pins. TFTC. mjp303

B. D. Picnic Place

By: Billspursuit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

5:02p #23 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. On my first attempt, nearly dead batteries conspired against me, so I hoofed back to the car and changed them out for a fresh set, which did the trick. Thanks for pointing out this lovely spot! mjp303

Secret Trail Head: Cove Beach

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

1:06p #15 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Lots of surfers coming and going. I enjoying walking down the trail a bit to the old bridge and soaking up the sun and the view. TFTC. mjp303

Elmo's Bounty #18 Revisited

By: ingmccleary Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

4:35p #22 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. It was getting dark quickly and I was really worried that I wouldn't be able to find it. Got lucky though. There were a suprising number of people about on this winter afternoon. Thanks. mjp303

A Seat for Cynthia

By: geekster Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

11:14a #9 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. What a great spot. The tide was out, so I wandered down on the rocks to explore: Lots of animals to see once you really start looking. The log is full. I'm sorry I didn't have a replacement. TFTC. mjp303

Candelabra Trail Access

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

3:46p #20 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. I love driving on these winding coastal roads! Thanks for providing the chance to explore. mjp303

Cowell Ranch Beach Trailhead

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

9:12a #3 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. I've enjoyed several other caches along this trail, so it was a pleasure to make a quick stop for this new one. T: a steel penny...since it was starting to rust; L: a pin of some sort. TFTC. mjp303

Lower Vista Point

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

2:01p #18 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Haha! You said: "Many switch backs to nicely accomodate the elevation gain"...While hiking it, I was thinking to myself: "If this trail gets any steeper, I'll need ropes to climb it." ...that was until I got to this cache...What a great view! Superb! Breathtaking! I'll remember this trail for a long time to come, and am going to write the following out: Thanks for the cache. mjp303

Upper Vista Point

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

2:25p #19 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. After 'Lower Vista Point', I really couldn't turn around. Besides that, my as the crow flies distance was only 0.1 mi further than the distance on the trail marker. Well, it was still steep, but the real barrier turned out to be a downed tree that had fallen along the trail. A 3' diameter Douglas Fir has recently snapped off about 50' above the ground and the broken piece (about 150' long!) is laying right on the trail. Bushwacking around was pretty much impossible due to the steepness of the hillside, so I waded along and over the fallen monster. Oh, did I mention that the view at this cache was even better? I decided to turn around here though. I'll leave the other caches for a second visit. Thanks for the wonderful discoveries along this trail. mjp303

Chameleon Horse

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

8:05a #1 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Sorry, I can't remember what the horse was wearing 'cuz a recycling truck pulled out in front of another speeding 18-wheeler and my life passed before my eyes as I watched the whole horn tooting, tires squealing and smoking affair play out right before my eyes. It was one of those split-second slow-motion affairs. After changing my shorts, I moved on. [;)]Thanks for helping me remember my mortality. mjp303

Bean Hollow State Beach

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

11:22a #10 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Plenty of people out enjoying this warm and sunny winter day, but all eyes were on the surf, making my job a quick one. TFTC. mjp303

Secret Trail Head: Whitehouse Creek Beach

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

12:48p #14 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Watched a guy walk his dogs right by the sign that said 'NO DOGS ALLOWED'. Grrrr. Thanks for the quick find. mjp303

Secret Trail Head: Whitehouse Ridge

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

1:30p #17 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. So, I'm driving up Whitehouse Road looking for the access to 'Fence Posts' (GCR32G), when I realized that I was pretty close to this cache. Okay, so I was waaaay past the supposed Fence Post cache trailhead, but that's the fun of caching isn't it? Thanks for luring me a bit further off the beaten path than I expected! mjp303

Babbling Brook Bridge

By: dr.dolittle & faith Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

4:16p #21 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. I had trouble with this cache in the quickly gathering twilight of a winter afternoon. Steep canyon walls and shady spots didn't help, but made the find eventually. I loved the sounds of the water. Very nice. mjp303

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

12:38p #13 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Another spot I wanted to spend more time exploring...but Mr. Smilie is calling me onward. A lady was reading a newspaper in her car closeby and never even looked up at what I was doing. BTW, the log is full. TFTC. mjp303

Pescadero Walking Tour

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

10:34a #7 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Thanks for pointing out the interesting history of this picturesque town. Fortunately for me (...at least I think it was...) I was the only tourist around. Perhaps I stood out more while struggling to find the final? In any case, perserverence paid off. TFTC! mjp303

The End of the Line

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

9:29a #4 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Unlike last time, I had the site to myself. I've enjoyed learning the history of the Coastside Railway. Thanks for placing the series. mjp303

Wilbur's Watch

By: camnpete Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

12:26p #12 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. What a pleasant hike and a fantastic view. I loved the suprise of a viewing telescope at the top, and spent awhile examining the sights. That's some pretty expensive stone they used for all the culverts along the trail! TFTC. mjp303

Cache Me if U Can

By: Mr152 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

5:51p #24 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Well, I'm not really on the coast anymore, and it's way past the time I should have stopped caching, but it seems I just don't know how to quit. I managed to stumble accross this cache by flashlight. I'm sure it's a nice trail, but honestly, the moonlight really didn't show too much. [:I] TFTC. mjp303

Fence Posts

By: richchips Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

Can I respectfully suggest that you add the coordinates for the suggested trailhead on the cache page? The sign you mention in your description is gone, and I couldn't find the trailhead. With your familiarity of the area, you probably can determine coordinates using Google Earth or some other aerial photo / mapping website, and won't even have to visit physically. Thanks.

By: Eagle81 & Eagles Wing Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Well, I finally figured out how to translate the cache page, which put me on scene at least. Although I'm wondering if I might have made a slight error since my GPSr was pointing in the middle of several suspicious objects and I couldn't make up my mind which one to focus on. I did manage to park quite worry-free only about 100' from the waypoint, though. This one's too close to home coordinates to ignore, so I'll be back.

Veterans Pump Station

By: vaccine Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I didn't need to enter the coordinates in the GPSr since I'd been intermittently pondering putting a cache in the general vicinity as well. Mine would have been called 'U-Turn Required', though. Upon approach I thought my search was going to be ruined by a SamTrans bus driver who was parked nearby, but it turns out he was asleep on the back row of the bus and not in the front where he could see me. Interestingly enough, there was a fairly nice bike stashed close to the cache, so this area must get a bit of foot traffic. TFTC! mjp303

By: mjp303 Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Rule #9 refers only to the final cache, and then only to people who have not met the challenge requirements. For safety reasons, I envisioned the possibility that people searching for the final cache might prefer to hike in a group. It's fine for someone who hasn't met the challenge requirements to accompany you on the search for the final cache, they just don't get to log it online. (If they want so sign the cache logbook that's fine!)
