Going Coastal in 07'By: GeoJakenfam Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular
Day five of our trip up North to camp and explore, and we're finally heading home. This was a quick stop after driving the scenic route from Orick to Weitchpec to Willow Creek to Arcata (no caches close to the route...but awesome scenery). TFTC. mjp303
White Deer MountainBy: Ken24 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
Day five of our trip up North to camp and explore, and we're finally heading home. A quick grab and go made a little more adventurous by the construction barricade: After leaving the cache, I opted to stay on the shoulder side and then had to traverse a slightly collapsed section of the road...no problem in the jeep though. Day five of our trip up North to camp and explore, and we're finally heading home. There was a huge RV parked closeby, but I was able to squeeze the jeep in front to block their view. Fortunately the sign provided further cover. Nice view! TFTC. mjp303

"Flying Tree Cache"By: Tigger 2 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual
Day five of our trip up North to camp and explore, and we're finally heading home. This was a really educational cache. I had no idea! The boys enjoyed playing engineer and imagining that they were bringing the logs to the mill. Thanks! mjp303
Miyasis DragonBy: Zack, Keith, Louise and Debbie Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular
Day five of our trip up North to camp and explore, and we're finally heading home. This was the last cache of the trip, and it turned out to be quite an adventure. You gotta love the mis-rated oldies with difficulty/terrain suprises: A steep side hill, loose rock, slippery dry grass, poison oak, plenty of inviting snake habitat, and two 7yo boys to keep an eye on. Nevertheless, it was an interesting area along the river and we were sorely tempted to cool off in the river, but time was getting late. TFTC. mjp303

No Spore PrintBy: xjrob Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
Day four of our trip up north to camp and explore. What an awesome spot. There was a really big bull elk along the path to the beach. A bunch of idiots decided it would be fun to walk towards him carrying sticks and knocking them together. The elk immediately stood up. They continued. The elk started swinging his antlers through the grass and tossing clumps around. They still continued. Finally the elk got fed up and charged them. He only pursued for about 50 feet, but that was enough to send them running all the way back to the parking lot. Potentially deadly, but still quite funny. TFTC. mjp303
Enjoy the viewBy: Arse & Hemi Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
Day three of our trip up north to camp and explore. Today it was the coast road. Unfortunately the fog had the view completely socked in, and the only evidence that we were close to the ocean was the very faint sound of the surf breaking way, way, way down below. By the time we made it to the WWII radar site, the fog was breaking up and we could appreciate the views. TFTC. mjp303
River on the RampageBy: QuarterCrazy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
Day three of our trip up north to camp and explore. Today it was the coast road loop. In a couple of locations along our path we had noticed the signs marking the Dec '64 high water mark. Scary and impressive. Thanks for marking this historic spot. mjp303

Out for a pleasant group hike with a great bunch of cachers. How wrong I was when I assumed my own cache placement along this trail (...and I'm not talking about Pure Quality Bald Knob; I didn't place that one, just adopted it. [;)]...) was further out than anyone else would consider as a destination. Thanks for the trail's end challenge! mjp303

Mines Scout CampBy: donvsop Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
Out with MotorBug to put a few ups and downs on his new Jeep, this was our next stop along an enjoyably long and winding road. Nicely hidden! I think several of us overlooked the spot before Shores Scout made the find. The gate was open, so I was tempted to drive up the road and check things out, but there were more caches to be found! Thanks. mjp303

Out with MotorBug to put a few ups and downs on his new Jeep, this was our next stop along an enjoyably long and winding road. That dirt road on the other side of the gate was calling to me, but alas it was not to be. I did notice a no trespassing, "except for members" sign on a tree nearby, so perhaps we could have travelled the road for a price. TFTC. mjp303
Dry Creek ViewBy: Butano Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular
Out with MotorBug to put a few ups and downs on his new Jeep, this was our next stop along an enjoyably long and winding road. He was yucking it up with bthomas in the lead and drove right by the cache. I brought them out of orbit with a quick call on the FRS radio. The cache seemed painfully exposed, but I suppose it really doesn't matter out here. Thanks! mjp303

Out with MotorBug to put a few ups and downs on his new Jeep, this was our next stop along an enjoyably long and winding road. The owner came out and wanted to know if we were carpenters. Road of Mines, You make me illBy: Kusakids and Dad Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro
Out with MotorBug to put a few ups and downs on his new Jeep, this was our next stop along an enjoyably long and winding road. Fruit of the EarthBy: Fallen Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
Out with MotorBug to put a few ups and downs on his new Jeep, this was our next stop along an enjoyably long and winding road. 'Fruit of the earth'? Is that what it's called now? We got worried when we saw the tell-tale pieces of soiled TP scattered about on approach. Yup, some serious fertilzation going on in there. We moved the cache slightly so that future finders won't have to enter the 'drop zone'. Heh! mjp303
Joaquin's Watering HoleBy: fizzymagic Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
Out with MotorBug to put a few ups and downs on his new Jeep, this was our next stop along an enjoyably long and winding road. I knew they would though, since bthomas was patiently waiting for us to fumble though. Interesting story! mjp303
Quarter TurnBy: fizzymagic Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro
Out with MotorBug to put a few ups and downs on his new Jeep, this was our next stop along an enjoyably long and winding road. Dry as a bone along the way to the cache this time of year, and every nook and cranny a potential snake hole. Thanks for the adrenaline rush! mjp303

Marissa's California CacheBy: PrincessMarissa Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular
This should have been an easy one, but just as I was returning to replace the cache, a car sputtered to a stop just feet from ground zero. I smiled and continued walking with the cache in my hand. Back at my car, I waited and watched...their car was quite dead, and soon they were on the phone for a lifeline. So, the cache will spend the night with me, and I'll replace it in the morning. Of all the dumb luck! TFTC. mjp303
Red Cross ReadyBy: ottokar790 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small
Nicely done! The grab and replace were complicated by a lady who was intently picking apples on the nearby tree. I think she must have been curious about why I walked by...twice(!), but fortunately for me, the best apples were on the opposite side of the tree, and she was none the wiser. TFTC. mjp303
Let Them ShopBy: rosmo Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Ordinary TimberBy: brown-eyed susan Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
A Sunday night caching stroll with the family. The container seemed to be in a pretty geo-logical spot to me, and I quickly palmed it as there were lots of people on the trail. We walked out towards the bay a bit and spent quite a while watching the sandpipers bed down on the shell beach for the night. On the way back, I dropped the cache off in its snug little hiding spot.
