Alder Springs

By: bishoptakesqueen Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

An easy drive up in a remote place. We wondered if the very good road had been built with CCC (...prison) labor. Plenty of country to explore up here, and would love to come back. TFTC! mjp303

Reflec On The Past

By: crowshoot Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was an interesting old relic. Thanks for pointing it out. mjp303

Flippin' a "U-ie" #4

By: redvoodoo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Wide open country here. No concerns for me with sudden changes in geocaching direction. Thanks for marking your 180! TFTC. mjp303

BIG BEAR THE FINAL BATTLE

By: BIG BEAR. Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

We tiptoed through the poison oak mine field and eventually located the cache by looking back uphill at an area we had already crossed. Thanks! mjp303

SHASTA

By: floflower Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This cemetary was a really interesting place! I headed out to find the cache while bthomas was taking photographs, then circled back down finding lost treasures all along the path back down the hillside. TFTC! mjp303

Car Wide Open

By: bishoptakesqueen Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Didn't realize that the cache owner had pulled a lot of caches, and found an attachment device without a container. Since it's a really cool hide, we decided to replace the container and try to keep the cache going. Thanks for all your caches in this area! mjp303

In The Outback

By: Olcowboy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I felt a bit unstable climbing up the edge of the road bank cut, but fortunately the cache was well back from the precipice! Thanks! mjp303

Always Out Back

By: Olcowboy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

It's a warm day, and getting hotter as we descend. Whew! Record highs for April, I believe. TFTC. mjp303

May The Bird Of Paradise...

By: OakStreetSeekers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Thanks for the cache along the way to NorCal DeLorme p65 up at Alder Spring. Pretty country and a very nice road to follow. TFTC. mjp303

By: BIG BEAR. Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Two containers, but only one cache! Thanks for the bonus. mjp303

DEERLICK

By: crowshoot Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Another summit cache! Thanks for the short walk in the forest. I'll be interested to see if this cache is in Trinity county or not. TFTC. mjp303

"Fish Don't Swim"

By: humcoca Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

What a beautiful day for a little hike. Thanks for pointing this spot out to us. The air was perfectly still, and the thing that struck me was just how quiet it was. That doesn't happen where I'm from. TFTC. mjp303

"Track" Me Down.

By: OakStreetSeekers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Saw the racetrack and then saw the cache! The hills are green and beautful right now. Thanks! mjp303

Buckhorn Summit

By: Vader Spade, VyCache, & Vantigo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Whew! What a curvy road to get to this summit! I felt slightly queezy after all of that turning. Thanks for the opportunity to get out and grab some fresh air. mjp303

Stress Relief

By: Desert(B)Rats Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I think it was a bit more than 10 minutes to get those coordinates, but hey, who's counting with views like the ones we were treated to near here! Thanks for the lifeline MotorBug. I decided to traverse the last few feet in my shorts and paid the price for it with those pesky manzanita bushes. Thanks for showing us a wonderful forest road high up in the mountains. mjp303

Fork in the road

By: SAR22 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

Definitely a one of a kind headstone. TFTVC! mjp303

Kok-Chee-Shup-Chee

By: Gatos & Laughing Ponies Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This cache turned out to be a highlight of the day for me. An interesting spot from a historical and geological standpoint in an out of the way place on a dirt road! Perfect. Thanks for bringing us here. mjp303

De Red Barn

By: Olcowboy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Quick find on my way to Redding. Views of snow covered mountains were very enjoyable. It was busy on the other side of the barn, but cache side was quiet. TFTC. mjp303

Roller Derby Madness

By: piddlepuddle Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

A bit of a cross-roads here in the middle of the forest. Thanks for the quick find along my way into Redding. mjp303

Montgomery Creek Falls

By: Rat & Mushroom Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Great hide! Very interesting location! The water was really bursting through the rocks. Thanks for pointing this location out. mjp303

Firefighter Chadlynn

By: floflower Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

A nice find in fading light. TFTC. mjp303

299E Hatchet Mt. Cache

By: Rat & Mushroom Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I was glad the snow was all gone. Thanks for the cache at another summit. It seems I have climbed quite of few of these today! mjp303

On A Hot Day

By: Olcowboy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The sun was stong, and yes, it was quite warm all around the cache. A little sting on the fingers during the search! TFTC. mjp303

It's Tiny

By: Olcowboy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

A quick stop just barely out of traffic...not that anyone passed us during our brief stop. Just a pleasant breeze to keep us company as we inked the log. TFTC. mjp303

Shortly Off Hiway

By: Olcowboy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Quiet today, although the area around the cache looks like it could be busy with campers at times. Thanks for the little excursion off the paved path! mjp303

Old Gnarley

By: day,ca Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

It was fun to meet other cachers in the field. I enjoyed the tree and the birds that had made a nest a few feet from the cache. Hopefully they won't get disturbed too much by visitors. TFTC. mjp303

Adin Mtn

By: Olcowboy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Pretty road on a beautiful day. TFTC. mjp303

Getting Up There

By: Olcowboy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

After stumbling over the rocks and tripping over the trash, I made a find. Thanks for marking my route! mjp303

Wary Interesting

By: Olcowboy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Heading for Redding. I found an empty hide-a-key a few feet from the real cache, which was somewhat interesting, and a tad bit confusing!

Canby's Best

By: Olcowboy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I made the search here harder than it had to be: bthomas pulled it out of a hiding spot right under my nose while I was looking further down and behind. TFTC. mjp303

Grass Lake Rest Area

By: Chocolate Rock (adopted by hafhas) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was an interesting lake. We also enjoyed watching the crew working on the railroad track on the other side of the highway. TFTC! mjp303

Cindy's Cache

By: redog1 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Lots of memories in geocaching for me, too. Mostly happy, but some bittersweet: remembering two friends who moved on before their time. Thanks for sharing in a spot with a heavenly view! mjp303

Minema Cemetery

By: jkruegel Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

First of the day after a great breakfast in town. The dew was heavy on the grass, but the sun was strong and I knew a great day was in store. Thanks for a good start! mjp303

Welcome to Tulelake

By: peac2u2 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I never knew there was an internment camp here, but bthomas filled in some of the details for me. TFTC! mjp303

No Bug Crossing

By: sar933 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The inspector told me that I needed to wash the Jeep. No way! That's a badge of honor. Plenty of bugs got a free ride on my windshield and grille today! TFTC. mjp303

Micro Cache at Mammoth Road

By: CABass Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Travelling down Hwy139, we make the quick stop for this cache. Pretty country in these parts! TFTC. mjp303

Grizzly

By: maasman72 Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I tried the conventional spots, then remembered that I'd seen this hide spot before. Good one! TFTC. mjp303

Hatfield Crossing: Craig's Third Micro

By: CABass Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Plenty of CA sunshine for our run through the northern tier of DeLorme map pages. TFTC! mjp303

Craig's Key Ring Cache - or - The Road to Mammoth

By: CABass Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

It was a bit muddy along the way to the cache, which was just fine by me. Splish, splash, the Jeep's sprayed with dash! We kept a sharp eye for snakes on this warm spring day. TFTC. mjp303

Memorial Day

By: kokopeli Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Thanks for pointing out this interesting history. Folks have been in these parts for a long time! TFTC. mjp303

Crook Cache

By: Rat & Mushroom Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The caretaker had just closed up for the day as I drove up. 'Can I help you?' she says, and I replied that I just wanted a spot to stretch my legs (which I really did want!). So I spent a few minutes looking around and discovered that the bathrooms weren't locked up, which was a lucky break. After that, I made a quick find and enjoyed the views to the river below. TFTC. mjp303

I Can See Forever

By: Lil Devil Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Fantastic views! Unfortunately I was squinting into the setting sun, which I knew would ruin the pictures. I made the approach more difficult than it had to be, but came back down the easy way. TFTC. mjp303

The Old Flower Shop

By: Morock & Miss C Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

The lady working in the store took a bit of pleasure in playing a game of warmer / colder with us. Soon we were red hot, and the joke was clear. TFTC! mjp303

Hat Creek Park

By: S.A.R 29 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

What a nice park along a peaceful stretch of river. Thanks for the cache and a little stroll in the woods! mjp303

Cal-Ore

By: Lone Ranger & Tonto Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

All-Cal for us...right turn at the next intersection for a run down the line. TFTC! mjp303

Electric Horseman

By: Lone Ranger & Tonto Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Thanks for the fun little diversion off pavement! We drove pretty close, then scrambled up the rocks to make the find. TFTC! mjp303

Living Memorial Sculpture Garden

By: Wolfb8 (libby) & Bgohan Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

This was an interesting and moving place! Thanks for luring me in with a cache. mjp303

Ingomar

By: IAMGMAN adopted by TeamFimJam Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

First cache of the day, we walked over from the motel. WOW! What a place. Thanks for pointing out this magnificent building. Now, off to hunt DeLorme pages between Eureka and Yreka. TFTC! mjp303

Pollocks Gulch

By: Lil Devil Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

[8D]FTF![8D] with bthomas. This cache has remained unfound for quite awhile, probably rightly so because of its remoteness. Nevertheless, we felt fortunate to have arrived first. Thanks for pointing out Yellow Jacket Road, and this pleasant stopping place along the way to the top. mjp303

On the way to Pony Peak

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I was suprised to see a familiar name as the owner of this cache! Thanks Tom. The gate was locked, so we took a quick walk and stretched our legs. It would have been a fun trip to the top...perhaps another time. TFTC. mjp303

23 PONIES SITTING ON A RAIL DOO DAH DOO DAH

By: humboldt flier Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The gate was still locked, so we humped it up the hill. Several downed trees impeded our progress; there is some work to be done before vehicles will be able to make it past those obstacles. Thanks for getting us a short ways up the trail! mjp303

Troubled waters

By: scottbar and rubbergirl Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

We found it about 50' from our zero. I felt bad tromping all over that steep hillside. TFTC. mjp303

Summit

By: sweetj Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

That's a pretty good sized 'micro'! Jumping to conclusions about size and hints had me looking in a completely wrong spot. Eventually things worked out. I loved the view! TFTC. mjp303

Mount Shasta

By: Retiredprof Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

bthomas and I were racing the setting sun to get to the correct spot for the photo. As you can see we were just 5 - 10 minutes too late. It was a fun ending to a wonderful day chasing DeLorme pages across the northern part of the state. FWIW, the rest area is now open, although most of the landscaping still needs to be put in. Thanks for the earth cache! mjp303

LET US PRAY

By: hafhas Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This is a beautiful valley. I can understand why people have wanted to put down roots here for a very long time. TFTC! mjp303

McCloud Flag

By: jkruegel(Adopted by patnanz) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I love seeing a big flag! Thanks for the quick find during our whirlwind night tour of McCloud! mjp303

By: humboldt flier & asaxist Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Thanks for p33! ...and a reminder that p34 is coming up soon. bthomas and loved driving this beautiful road and watching the river as we travelled along. mjp303

A.D.A. Pg. 34 No Knives or Spoons

By: humboldt flier & asaxist Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

bthomas and I had the road to ourselves this fine spring day. Thanks for all the views along this wonderful road! mjp303

A.D.A. pg 24 Bridge to Titus Gap

By: asaxist Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Thanks for p24! Most definitely a beautiful spot along a magnificent river. We're headed back to Somes Bar for the turn into p34...TFTC! mjp303

Nordheimer A.D.A. pg34

By: asaxist Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

More remote country! What a beautiful canyon. I loved looking at the river down below, but the narrow road, high cliffs and noticible absence of guard rails led me to do it while the vehicle was safely parked! TFTC! mjp303

Red Bank Cache

By: jewels57 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

bthomas and I really enjoyed our time on this remote road. Thanks for placing a cache for us to find. mjp303

Road To Deacon Lee

By: jewels57 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The grab on this cache was a bit nerve-wracking since I nearly dropped it down below! TFTC. mjp303

Jump Off Joe

By: jewels57 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Thanks for the history of this place! The log sheets were damp, but I spread them out on the very warm hood of my Jeep (...it's a steep climb along this stretch...), and they were much drier when I returned them too the container. TFTC. mjp303

f-troop

By: scottbar Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Thanks for pointing out this interesting monument. I picked up the object that hides the cache and found a lethargic garter snake curled up around the container! It gave me a start! TFTC. mjp303

Old Kids on the Block

By: patnanz Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

We thought we were going to get stiffed on this cache, but then saw a second object that matched the hint. Whew! TFTC. mjp303

Road Apple

By: Ruff-N-Ready-Rider Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Neat sculpture and fun hide! I laughed out loud. TFTC. mjp303

Stickers, Weeds, and Shasta

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The rest area appears to be open now, although there is no landscaping in many places and there are fences protecting the bare ground. We were able to take a meandering route to the cache and make a quick find. Thanks! mjp303

TUNNEL VISION

By: gpsnjeep01 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The snow is gone, and we were able to move the object that was pinching the cache. Thanks for a quick find after a couple of DNFs. mjp303

Yellow Jacket

By: Lil Devil Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

[8D]FTF[8D] with bthomas. We thought we were going to be able to drive a little further, but a snow bank across the road stopped our progress a couple of tenths from the cache. Hopping out of the vehicle, we noticed a set of large paw prints in the snow. Oh Mah? Couldn't be, since it's the middle of the day. Walking for a moment more, we saw the black bear rolling around in the snow about 50 yards off. I froze, but bthomas stepped forward, with camera clicking. What a magnificent animal! It was my first opportunity to see a bear in the wild. The whole encounter only lasted a few seconds, as soon as it saw us, the bear lumbered off in the opposite direction. It's a sight I won't ever forget. Somehow it wasn't suprising to see a bear on Yellow Jacket Road! We never saw any evidence of bees (...or honey) however. BTW, I loved the camouflage on the cache container! TFTC. mjp303

Coons' Hollow

By: ouzels-R-we Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

This was a neat little spot. It seems to have been cleaned up, or perhaps winter storms have scoured the debris away. The fish ladder was interesting. It's amazing to me that they make the trek back at all. The cache seems to have been muggled, but we provided a replacement. It's tucked away in a little hollow at the base of the stump. TFTC. mjp303

This guy gets around!!

By: Uncle Al Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

Thanks for the interesting virtual cache. bthomas and I enjoyed finding caches in this guy's stomping grounds! mjp303

Fifty is Nifty!

By: NCFLYERS - The Double J's of Fortuna, CA Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

bthomas and I were on our way up the hill on the way to remote and far away spots. Thanks for the steping stone! mjp303

CREST CACHE

By: Ca_Surveyor & Ali Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I thought it would be even money the cache was still covered with snow. bthomas, however, confidently struck out to find it. His hunch that it would be snow free turned out to be correct, but we had a lot of fun sliding back down to the road after our find. TFTC! mjp303

VFW

By: SAR22 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

I was with bthomas. It's true, we did stop at quite a few cemetaries. Fortunately for me, most of them had a cache! Thanks! mjp303

This Park

Heh! I've been to this park before. There used to be a cache in it. GCPDA9 Apparently that's it's only use. [;)]

Benchmarked in Vallemar

By: Team Johnson Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

An afternoon sweep through Pacifica. This is my third or fourth visit to this street to find a cache. They seem to come and go in this spot. There used to be a manequin head in one of the upstairs windows. It gave me a serious fright, and I haven't forgotten it. TFTC. mjp303

Old Stone's Home

By: Lyndalou2 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I've been to this park for a cache before. Your spot was much more interesting than the previous one! It looked like a high school party spot though. I hope the cache stays safe. Thanks! mjp303

Got Nuts?

By: Weekend Driver Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro
