Just another pile of....

By: Silly_Hawg Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Last cache of the drive from Ft. Bragg to Wilits. Thanks for getting us onto this pretty road! On to lunch. mjp303

Fork in the Road

By: Silly_Hawg Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

We enjoyed the bit of dirt on the way to this cache. Sorry to be leaving the Mendocino coast after a fun weekend of caching and exploring; it's been a blast! The widget was pointing us about 200' into the trees, but we knew that probably wasn't right, and walked right up to the cache in a very 'geo-logical' spot. Interesting how the forest has recovered since clear-cutting. Thanks! mjp303

Lost at Sea

By: Silly_One_75 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

A somber reminder of how dangerous the ocean can be. We enjoyed looking out over the bearths, and could hear harbor seals barking in the distance. TFTC! mjp303

Half way?

By: Silly_Hawg Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was searching high and low with no sucess. Finally mrs303 got bored with her book and decided to rescue me. She walked up and found it in the first nook she checked! argggh! It was a pleasure to sign a nice fresh log sheet. TFTC. mjp303

The road NOT traveled...anymore?

By: Silly_Hawg Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

We noticed a lot of those yellow gates during our travels today. Thanks for getting us on the other side! mjp303

Not Just Another Log

By: osuae Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

That's a good one! I love a unique container. TFTC. mjp303

Noyo Harbor Secret

By: the5Bucks Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Last day of our trip to the Mendocino coast. A bit chilly and damp this morning, but plenty of people out on the jetty. We spent some time watching a trio of characters get into their snorkling gear and then into the water. It seemed they were a bit cold! Thanks for pointing out this harbor entrance! mjp303

Hidden Waterfall

By: vallen2 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Virtual

A very cool place that I happened across only because of geocaching! I love those discoveries! As we were approaching, a wedding party was just finishing up the ceremony and moving on to the reception. A very memorable spot! Thanks. mjp303

Hangin' out at Hidden Valley

By: sweetj Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

A couple of cars at the trailhead, but we didn't see anyone else during our short walk to the cache. The fog was quite thick, and we got wet with all of the drops that were falling from the trees. After starting out our search at the wrong tree, we eventually found it several minutes later. TFTC. mjp303

Got Dirt?

By: sweetj Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Heard somebody digging dirt, and got plenty of quizical looks. TFTC! mjp303

A.D.A .Pg 62

By: asaxist, Humboldt Flier Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I left mrs303 at the visitor center, but ended up being gone a lot longer than either of us expected. Fog and a steep hillside conspired against me, and I ended up wandering all over. Thanks for the backup! mjp303

every nook and cranny

By: Two Tracks Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I'm a pushover for old cemetaries. Thanks for providing a cache to find as well! mjp303

Whale Rock

By: Location Hunters Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

On our way to DeLorme p62, but as we passed by realized that the timing was perfect. What a beautiful beach! It took us several tries to find the correct approach, but eventually we found the path with the least amount of pucker factor and made the ascent. The cache was suprisingly exposed, but it doesn't look like too many people get up on top, so all is well. Great views from up there, and a very memorable adventure. TFTC! mjp303

Looking Into the Whale's Mouth

By: dandm Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I've heard a lot about this cache over the years, and was happy to finally experience it for myself. The weather was perfect with hazy filtered sun and light breezes. I think we probably saw all of the same Elk that Geobrowns ran into a week ago, which was quite a thrill. We spent quite some time talking to the park hosts, who were heading out for a new assignment the next day after speding a month at the ranch house. Wouldn't that be a fun way to spend your retirement? I actually thought the drive to the end of the road wasn't too bad. Somehow I was thinking that it was going to be dirt all the way from Garberville. Thanks for getting us into another remo te part of California, and a very scenic one at that! TFTC. mjp303

You don't know Jack S*%#$

By: forman Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Interesting to see the logging equipment. We were disappointed to see all the trash strewn about, but happy to find a place stretch our legs for a few minutes. TFTC! mjp303

Our Favorite Secret Spot in Mendocino

By: SRHunters Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This was a tough find. Signal was bouncing us all over, and there were plenty of places to check. Eventually we made the find. TFTC. mjp303

Kelly's Konkrete room with a view

By: Erin, Karl, Jon and Miles Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

A quick find along our way. That Sea Ranch place is suprisingly big! It just went on and on and on. TFTC. mjp303

Secret View

By: CrystalTravelers Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Great view! The Mendocino coastline is beautiful. TFTC. mjp303

Pacific Coast Cache #2

By: Andypants Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I love the old cemetaries! This one was especially overgrown and neglected. People have been living along this coast for a long time, haven't they? TFTC. mjp303

So close, yet so far

By: BelleauWayTeam Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 4.5 Container: Small

On our way up the coast, we chanced up on this doozie! What a fun adventure! All in all, I'm a bit suprised with made it out and back without incident. Well, almost! I did put my hand smack in the middle of a bunch of poison oak during the rope climb, and suffered the consequences of that mistake! A small price to pay for an exciting scramble! Thanks for leading the way! mjp303

Troop 333 Salmon Creek

By: h_mtreasurecache and troop 333 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

A good place to stop and stretch the legs. With today's fog, we got all wet during the hunt. Each bush we touched caused a shower of heavy drops. Thanks! mjp303

The Gungan Shuttle

By: Zop Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Heading for the coast, we stopped to find this cache. It didn't remind me of Star Wars at all, but I appreciated your cache description. Thanks! mjp303

TH15 - Hav42's Treasure Hunt Series

By: Hav42 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Making our way up the coast to Fort Bragg. Thanks for the hide. mjp303

Duncan Landing Overlook

By: Hav42 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Great views, although somewhat obscured by the fog. Thanks for placing a cache along our path! mjp303

SEASONAL

By: "ZAG" Dad Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

First stop of our trip along the Mendocino coastline. Thanks for the cache and the views! mjp303

Russian River Bridge

By: Hav42 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I took care of the caching business while mrs303 tried to make friends with the cows. I had more sucess than she did. That was some very suspicious livestock! TFTC. mjp303

Point Arena Pile Driver

By: Smith Clan Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Nothing too interesting going on at the cache site, but we took your advice and spent some time on the pier. Now that was interesting! Thanks for getting us to this place! Very cool. mjp303

001-408

By: budmuc and team 9-er Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

We were tempted to phone it in, but the fines for improper usage seemed pretty stiff. TFTC. mjp303

On Shaky Ground

By: cowboyB Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

We passed on paying $7 to see Ft. Ross, and decided to hunt for this cache instead. Beautiful trees! Of course the redwoods are impressive, but we liked the huge bay laurel as well. TFTC! mjp303

Portuguese Beach

By: Isolino Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

Our first opportunity to walk on the sand since hitting the coast. A really pretty beach! TFTC. mjp303

Stop for the Sea Lions and Pelicans

By: Primate Social Club Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

After a great sandwich for lunch in Jenner, we made a quick stop for this cache. Plenty of sea lions lounging on the river bank, but no pelicans. We watched a couple of hikers approach from the south, but they kept a respectful distance. TFTC! mjp303

Glass Beach

By: Team Palaina Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

We were interested in this beach, but disappointed to discover that the cache was likely missing. After contacting the cache owner and getting his permission, we have replaced the cache. Future finders, please re-hide the cache carefully with rocks. What a cool spot. It's sort of sad realizing that people would dump trash in such a beautiful location, but with a hopeful conclusion and renewal. Very unique! Thanks for showing us this spot! mjp303

Pacifica Steeper

By: evanhk Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

A great lunchtime hike on a sunny, but breezy day. As advertised, the views were breathtaking! I could see that the cache is a very wet spot, and the water (probably somewhat salty?) has done it's damage on the ammo can. The latch, handle and hinges have flaked away with rust. Despite damage on the outside, everything inside is dry. Thanks for a fun adventure. mjp303

By: McGrude-n-Nif (adopted by mjp303) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

It sounds like I need to get up to the cache and do some PO trimming.

Big Tree at La Honda Creek OSP

By: KendraH and justbob Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

We had stopped at the Methusalah tree up along Skyline earlier in the day. This one is probably taller; an awe-inspiring sight! Thanks for getting us here! mjp303

I am a Lemming!

By: AlphaRomero.com Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I started out looking at the large downed log on the opposite side of the trail from where we eventually found the cache. Lots of interesting hiding spots there! And, yes, after realizing there was a cliff closeby, we did feel a bit like lemmings! TFTC. mjp303

Are You a Lemming Too?

By: AlphaRomero.com Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The first stop on our tour of La Honda Creek. I had a permit, but we discovered upon arrival that the gate was already open so that at t could make a service call down at the house. With bright sunshine and mild temperatures it's going to be a fun hike! TFTC. mjp303

End of The Road

By: AlphaRomero.com Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

The grass is still green and tall along the way to this cache, and we waded through plenty of it along the way. I can see that this was once a pretty choice area if you were a cow! Great views of hillsides and open meadows! TFTC. mjp303

More Lemming Bait

By: justbob & KendraH Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

The third of three end-of-the-trail caches for the day. Hopefully development of the park will create looping trails! TFTC. mjp303

No Exercise Cache

By: the voucher Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

We were on our way to get our exercise at LaHonda Creek OSP, but stopped by to find this cache. There were several groups getting ready for the descent, and a local pooch who was making the morning rounds. Thanks for marking this spot! mjp303

Ocean, Cemetery, City

By: the voucher Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Since I was a bit slow getting the GPSr turned on, we almost drove by this cache. A great spot on a scenic ridge. There were a few wisps of fog down below, but the views were still good. TFTC! mjp303

La Vista de La Honda

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

A lonely cache indeed, but what an incredible and unexpected view it brought us to! Thanks for discovering this place and pointing it out. mjp303

La Honda Creek OSP

By: geekster Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

It seems I've had my eye on this hike for quite a while. After finally getting around to it, I'm really glad I did! The hills are still quite green and the grass is tall. Great views! Topping things off with lunch at Alice's made for a fantastic day. TFTC! mjp303

Spare Change

By: kobidge Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

A fun find in an urban, busy area! I'm glad I came on a Saturday...that made things easier. There seems to be some sort of apology written in a scrap of paper that has been placed in the cache. For the cache owner, perhaps? TFTC! mjp303

The Lonely Tree

By: MacGeekPro Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I parked near the lower access, and enjoyed the short stroll up to the cache. Crossing the washed out section of the trail was interesting, and then discovering the storage trailer near the cache was a suprise. I wonder what's in it? Thanks for pointing out another hidden canyon! TFTC. mjp303

Eating Up Inside

By: Chancer Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

By: The Geoides Family Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

[8D]FTF![8D] 2:45p As I drove up, I noticed another car pulling in behind me. It turns out Navysparks Mrs had been out caching on this overcast day as well. Really great to see you guys; it's been awhile. There was some FTF smack going back and forth for a minute or two, but we soon had examined all of the tried and true hide locations, and quickly combined forces to make the search. We must have been there about 20 minutes before a tricky little thought dawned on me, et voila! That's a unique hide. Tthanks for the fun! mjp303

REDy Set GO!

On Approach

By: Sparkotron & LeLe Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I felt fortunate to spot the cache quickly. This type can be tricky! A bit overcast and misty meant that I didn't have to contend with a lot of passersby. TFTC. mjp303

What a Drain...

By: Geoides Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

A one of a kind container! Very creative. The log was completely soaked, but I was still able to sign the sheet and replace it. Thanks for a fun hunt! mjp303
