Soapstone Rocks

By: 2 toe head boys Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Coming back from an overnight backpacking trip with family, we stopped to find the cache. There were lots of places to look at GZ, but eventually my nephew, Spencer, made the find. Thanks! mjp303

TUNNEL CACHE

By: Dhobby1 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

We stopped here on our way up to the Lily Lakes area for an overnight backpacking trip. My B-in-L, being somewhat of a local, had heard of the tunnel before. Given the amount of water that was flowing, it sure seems like they went to a lot of trouble and expense. Very interesting! TFTVC! mjp303

Rock On!

By: June 09 PC Adventure Camp Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 4.5 Container: Small

Headed for Watson Lake, somehow we took a wrong turn and ended up at Wall Lake and close to this cache. Great views of Notch Mountain! A perfect backpacking adventure! TFTC! mjp303

Provo River Falls

By: AD0OR Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

On our way up to the Lilly Lakes area for a little backpacking. The water was really flowing over the rocks. Thanks for bringing us to this beautiful spot! mjp303

Watson Lake Uinta Cache

By: redjay Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

We had intended to make it to Clyde Lake for the overnight, but this spot, in the rocky shadow of Mount Watson seemed just perfect! There was a bit of a breeze during our stay, which kept the mosquitos at bay. Thanks for placing caches to guide the way! mjp303

Cliff Lake Uinta Cache

By: redjay Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

Great hike! We spent the night up at Watson Lake, stopping here for a break and a cache. It was the first backpacking trip for my boys, and they had a great time with their cousins. Thanks for placing a cache in this beautiful area! mjp303

Bear Hollow Cache

By: Captain Ron and Friends Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Visiting at the Canyons from California. We took the gondola up for a picnic lunch. After a short loop, I took off from the rest of a group for a very nice hike back to the bottom of the mountain. There was a lot of varied terrain: pine forests, aspen groves, and scrub oak. I passed under several lifts and got to see the ski area from a very different perspective. My route ended up being about 7 miles (track attached), and your cache was along the way. Thanks for getting me out into a beautiful area on a wonderful summer day! mjp303

St Antony's Cache

By: CAKID Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Caching my way back to the Bay Area. Thanks for the quick stop and diversion through a sleepy little town. It sort of suprised me that the exits are so far removed. mjp303

LA to Vegas/Vegas to LA swap valt

By: Chrisified Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

No swapping, but close enough to stop for a drive-by. TFTC. mjp303

Out in the corner

By: Huggy_D1 and Moose Mob Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Yeah, definitely a corner of a DeLorme page. Since I'm in the sedan on this trip, it was much appreciated. Having travelled Route 66 yesterday, I'm wondering if this place will eventually suffer a similar fate. There's a thought! TFTC. mjp303

Mirror, Mirror on the wall

By: Rallye Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Thanks for pointing out this interesting spot. I was suprised that there were no fences to keep me out. I did approach a bit to check things out, but figured I better not wander too close. TFTC. mjp303

Another Tortoise Themed Cache

By: armynate Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

No live tortises to be seen, but I did step over their fence to find your cache. I suppose they have the good sense to stay out of the sun though. Thanks. mjp303

Not Making the Grade

By: CactusKid & Co Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I felt fortunate to have made the grade. There were others nearby were attempting to cool off (tough to do in this heat!) before making the attempt. TFTC. mjp303

Shopping in Nevada!

By: Moose Mob Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Despite having spent the night in Las Vegas, this was my only NV cache on this trip. Thanks. mjp303

Sandy Valley Trail 9 of 9

By: notsonew2 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was hunting DeLorme pages today, and saw this line of caches that nipped a corner. Thanks for getting me off of the well-beaten path! mjp303

Sandy Valley Trail 8 of 9

By: notsonew2 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Sandy Valley Trail 7 of 9

By: notsonew2 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Hot and bone dry right now. Any water has long since evaporated from this place. I can't imagine there'd be much for cattle to eat out here anyhow. TFTC. mjp303

Sandy Valley Trail 6 of 9

By: notsonew2 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I still haven't seen anybody else on this road since I left the interstate. Where does it go? I'll probably never know. Thanks for the caches. mjp303

Sandy Valley Trail 5 of 9

By: DTSpec Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Foxtails and Softtails

By: d three and cappie g Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

The Arvin "Y" Bug Hotel II

By: sloigo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Blown Engine Cache

By: Boris and Natasha Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

While finding this cache, I saw some folks who had suffered a similar mechanical fate. Probably not all that rare, unfortunately. TFTC. mjp303

Happy Harper Haven

By: jeanthebean Adopted by Autoteach & Red Lady Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

The autorouter completely failed on this one as it told me to come in from the east along a powerline road. That would have been okay in the Jeep, but today I was driving the Camry. FAIL. Fortunately the signs along Hwy 58 saved the day. Plenty of evidence of water in the vicinity of the cache, including rusty spots on the ammo can, but all of that has long since evaporated in the summer heat. Interesting place though. Thanks for pointing the way. mjp303

YELLOWDOG6

By: Team Yellowdog Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Had to stop when I saw the name of the exit! Suprisingly, there was another car in the 'parking' area. Those folks didn't get out into the heat, and I'll bet they thought I was crazy to do so! Thanks for a little stroll in the desert. mjp303

Silver Queen

By: Chooper Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

TFTC. I'm not clear on the reason for the name of the cache. Is there a mine nearby?

The Old Road

By: olsenr Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen

Pole Whole

By: Xeretnipcs & Tassieworfsky Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

The cache was close to a shady parking spot, which was good. We finished our fast food from across the street and found your cache. Thanks!

By: Terra Girl Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

"Oh Well"

By: Tassieworfsky Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Interesting back story. Thanks for sharing it. I was amused to see the old and new versions of the CDOT buildings across the street from each other. I suppose it was just easier to start fresh, huh? The roof above the well is quite flimsy. (I know, I tried searching up there!) Hopefully someone will maintain this bit of history. TFTC. mjp303

Discovering & Logging California's 58 Counties

By: Team Geo-Rangers Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Other

First of all, sorry for the late log...a couple of vacations sandwiched around a hectic week of work have kept me away from the computer. I made the hunt for the final on a blisteringly hot Sunday morning. Fortunately I had the advice of a previous finder, and made my approach from the "easy" side. That was probably a good thing since chuch services were in full swing during my ordeal. Diving into the jungle, it was readily apparent what the hide style would be, but it took quite awhile to check all the potential spots. By that time, I was dripping with sweat, stinging from nettles, covered with dirt, leaves, pollen, spi derwebs, and heaven knows what else. Fortunately I didn't see any snakes! I noticed the remains of a large dead bird (just the wings), and shortly thereafter had the cache in hand. It was definitely a concluding search worthy of my statewide quest, and a fun challenge with lots of great memories. Thanks! mjp303

This Newer Bridge

By: Scooterman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The cache had slipped from its hidey hole, and was sticking out. I quickly noticed it. Restored to its intended location. Thanks for the quickie. mjp303

This Old Bridge.

By: Scooterman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

We parked about 5' from the cache, and then proceeded to look all over in the wrong spots. Startled a bunny holed up to beat the heat. Finally realized that the cache was right under our noses! TFTC. mjp303

Errors Motel

By: c33 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

That's a pretty minimalist cache! Saw a bunch of folks all decked out for a wedding reception. Scared off a stray cat. TFTC. mjp303

Geocachers Parking Only

By: Lil' Duckling Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

Not a space any more, but I suppose you already knew that. Thanks. mjp303

A bold hide in a beautiful spot. We stayed to watch the sunset. Perfect timing! TFTC. mjp303

Million Dollar View

By: Station 18 Bomberos Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

What a strange place for a fire station! There doesn't seem to be any need for it here. Thanks for showing us the view! mjp303

Whole Hog: A Biker's Paradise

By: General Grant & The Mad Dog Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Really busy nearby, but all quiet at ground zero for this cache. After a quick find, we braved the crowds for some lunch. TFTC. mjp303

Rodeo Gardens

By: General Grant & The Mad Dog Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Searched the wrong location, and got that pleasant spiced smell all over my hands. Widening my search eventually got it. I loved looking at all of the plants in the garden. TFTC. mjp303

Calbash Dash

By: N82558 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

It seemed kinda quiet for a late Saturday afternoon. HOT. Perhaps that's why. An interesting area. TFTC. mjp303

My decMin 772 and 803. Hot and Sunny with not a cloud in the sky. Forgot to note the elevation. A couple of parties with jumpers going on down there in the park. TFTC. mjp303

Clumpy

By: HMB Lipripper Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Yes, the vegetation have been whacked, making a nice wide path. The grass that conceals the cache is quite parched now though, and the container is somewhat exposed. Great hike through here. Thanks! mjp303

Hot Lead Ahead

By: HMB Lipripper Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

The only noise we heard while passing by this cache was the sound of two lonesome dogs over at the residence. TFTC. mjp303

Feeling Nuts

By: HMB Lipripper Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

We grabbed the final coordinates for this cache while waiting for our group to gather at the trailhead. We were initially struggling with a metric to english conversion, but realized that it was easier just to switch the units on the widget! There were lots of appreciative ooohhs and aaahhs when the cache was discovered. TFTC. mjp303

A Trail To The Past

By: HMB Lipripper Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

We found this cache with Sandlotfamily and a group of Cub Scouts from Pack 61 in Redwood Shores. Great day for a hike and interesting to explore the old barn. TFTC. mjp303

EMERGENCY LANDING

By: CNDGIRL1 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

Didn't get the hint, and couldn't really see the airport from anywhere close to GZ. Lots more bushes and grass tromped down than 1 prior DNF would indicate. I think the neighbors across the street thought I was trying to break into that RV parked above the cache. I didn't hang around to find out if they had called the cops.

Lunch Walk - Rest

By: MRSautoX Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was pretty curious about the pipes out in the water near the cache. I wonder if I could figure out what they're for if the tide was out? Interesting. TFTC. mjp303

Lunch Walk - Liberty

By: MRSautoX Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This cache is close enough for a lunch time hunt for me, too! Thanks for placing another cache along the bay trail. It was a very pleasant day to be out for a walk. TFTC. mjp303

Evil Avenue #1 - Boulders

By: Geoides and Son Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen

Adding my DNF. After 20 minutes of running my hands all over, my fingertips were starting to get a bit tender and I decided to call it quits. I hope you ruined a drill bit making that little devil. [}:)]
